Got back from weekend trip to celebrate birthdays of our twin sons with their brother and girlfriends. Met his new girlfriend and she is perfect for him! She gave us a box of Fran's chocolates which went over really really well :) So enjoyed playing a new card game Cards Against Humanity with them - hilarious, disgusting, at the same time, went to farmer's market, had excellent sunny weather for Seattle that says a lot! Mt Rainier, the Cascades and Olympics, sparkling Lake Union, sailboats, water activity, smiling faces everywhere, puppies, street musicians. It was quite the time for making good memories. My heart is full!!! We ate, drank had treats, birthday cake, chocolates, cookies and TODAY we swore off the sweets for the week and are going to get back in line --- and NO WHINING about it! Glad you are here cuz I need help. I have not lost a pound yet!! So I will do everything right today!! I have had a low cal breakfast, did californiagirls Monday exercises and will go to the gym. Even tried on my new beach coverups with a modeling job for husband this morning. I am motivated to look the best I can look at my age!! without being too --- I don't know what the word is --- risque, crazy, disgusting, revealing, clueless, do you get me? Anyways, have Fun, love Life!! Sending hugs and love :)

I'm quietly struggling over here in my little corner of Texas.

Once I start eating (anything) it seems that there isn't enough food in this house/town/nearest Walmart to satisfy me. One side of brain knows better, the other (apparently dominant) side is screaming EAT EAT EAT :explode:

I swear I do better if I just don't eat real food at all. And, whine whine whine, my ankle injury is flaring up again big time so need to give it a break from the treadmill/walking much for a few days to let it get back to a more normal size.

Such a tale of woe and anguish LOL. Hope all of you are having a great week!

I know exactly how you feel........ I have not been adding my exercise calories and so seem to be over the 1200 very easily and very early in the day....none left for this evening which is not good news....at least I got a three mile run in this afternoon which I will remember if I succumb to the snacks later on!

Sounds like maybe you need a little break both food and exercise wise....... maybe start again after Easter...as I guess a few of us will be doing! :ohwell:

The last guests have finally left, most of the sheets and towels have been washed, and our suitcases are in the guestroom, waiting to be packed. Today was my last day at the gym before we leave on Sunday, and I have hair and nails appointments set for tomorrow and Saturday, which will have to keep me looking as good as possible for the six weeks we're away. Vitamins and pills have been sorted and counted, and my purse has been changed. Tomorrow, the friends who will be watching our houseplants are coming over for a key.
Reality is setting in...we'll really be in Europe for the next month and a half!

I copied this from my diary, since some of you are only MFP friends, here...

We leave on Sunday morning (Easter Sunday was one of the few open days when we could use mileage for business class.) For those friends who came to my site recently and have asked about our itinerary: We fly first to Paris to spend a few days with my youngest son, Daniel, and his wife. He is in the diplomatic corps, and has been at our embassy there for two years. Then we head to Lisbon, Portugal for an 11 day river cruise with our neighbors, Susan and Robert. After that, we will fly to London, pick up a rental car, and explore the back roads of the UK for a month, returning late on June 4. We made a mutual decision to travel while our health is good. Clyde will be 77 next month, and feels great, but who knows what the future holds?

Ker in Texas: Try to get a handle on that binge eating while we are gone. Boredom? Restlessness? Meanwhile, get your trigger foods out of the house.

Been a glorious day today.....running this morning and sat in garden taking in the sun this afternoon....... not great on the food though....always get tempted to have a glass of wine when I sit out in the sunshine and that leads to nibbles.......:ohwell:

Just poking my head in to say 'hi'. We came up to the lake this weekend, and are heading out on the boat for a couple hours. Not going to get many steps in that way  but I WILL get some sunshine and positive thinking.

    Have a great day everyone!:glasses:

I visited our 80 year old uncle and aunt, who are healthy as can be. They are cattle ranchers and keep busy. OMGosh - cannot believe how at their age they have such an active lifestyle. Our aunt said she doesn't understand how anyone cannot have desserts. Of course I especially love her for that!!! So I am hearing what I want to hear -- stay active, keep busy, eat a serving of a sweet, not the whole box of chocolates and I will be happy for the rest of my life!!! (I just confessed on MFP that I weighed 135 lbs when I started MFP a couple years ago and this Feb weighed 152.2 - and still doing a lot of the right things!! ) I have been beating myself up, overeating with family stress, and now I think I am getting thicker skin to life. I am aging, I am counting my blessings and I am letting go of a lot of stuff I cannot control. So my words of wisdom today mainly to myself and anyone else who needs to hear it - is to Just keep going! Not to let myself focus on the scale alone, but to focus on what I do that is right on track towards m y goals. WE GOT THIS! Have fun! Happy Easter!

    joyous Easter!
I have been beating myself up, overeating with family stress, ...
Yeah, that got to me as well. Bounced right back up 50 pounds to where I started.

Tracking my (small) progress on MFP has made me aware of other "fat" in my life. I am getting rid of decades of stuff - things rarely if ever used, keepsakes that collect dust, the extra stuff hanging around "just in case" but have not used for 3 years. I collected things as a younger person - minerals, railroad paraphernalia - it is all going. I am discovering it is similar to getting fit in that it took years to gather all this clutter, it may take over a year to get rid of it.

Hello All: My name is Marian & I just clicked the join button for the "60" group! I am new to mfp and social media so I hope this is the correct way to ask if I may join in with all of you? I am 66 and have been following the site for the past month as I learned how some of the 'things' worked. Apparently I have been 'lurking"! I have been overweight my entire life & am now at the heaviest I have ever been ... I retired a few years ago & thought "right, now I will lose weight without all the stress at work" ... not so much success there. I am not ready for lots of exercise yet as it is a challenge to just get myself out for a walk ... but I am trying on going for a short walk 3 times a week .. didn't walktoday :ohwell: . I really enjoy posting to my diary though and am truly awed by many of the mfp posters on the various boards though I haven't had the courage to join in yet! I find I really enjoy your group, though I am certainly not as physically & socially active as many of you. Please read by profile as I would appreciate some friends. Next, I need to learn how to "friend" people, oh well one new skill at a time. This is my first post, so I hope it works. Many thanks again, Marian

Howdy Marian! So glad you graduated from lurking to posting

Your profile sounds oh so familiar to me - from the yo yo dieting to the supportive slim husband! When I started using MFP, I too posted a much smaller number for the same reason (I have since changed them), but my numbers are lots worse than yours!

And, hey - congrats on logging and your 3x a week walk as well as your weight loss - it's a terrific start.

    Sending a friend request :flowerforyou:

:flowerforyou: Jean: thank you for your warm welcome. I am typing this again as I was in the middle of my message & everything disappeared .... I am also a newbie to social media so I hope this second attempt goes through :blushing: How wonderful that you have taken up running and enjoy it so much, good for you! I promised Ker that I would get out for a walk today so I am going to walk to my hair stylist's salon (which is about 10 blocks away) and my reward will be to get my hair cut ... do you think shorter hair will help with my weight loss? oh, well, we can always dream! Later today I hope to try to figure out how to post a picture on my profile so that should take up the rest of my day & will try out to eat out of frustration  . I don't have a lot of recent photos (recent = these past many years) as the only thing that will make me try to run is if someone takes out a camera! Enjoy your evening in the UK and hello to all our group in N. A.

Hi Marian you are going to learn as you go for tech stuff here. Just ask whenever something doesn't work, sometimes it is not you!!! I think short help helps as I just cut my hair the shortest I have had since the 90s. It is much more wash and wear now and I plan to start swimming soon. Isn't the warmer weather uplifting? sooooooo --- feel free to friend me.

Hellooooo Tuesday! Let's go to the gym or something active, even though it is raining, who cares?! This is the day to do something good for yourself! Who's in?

Thought I would pop in to say hi as I will not be on line tomorrow until very late. Though I am retired I work 2 to 3 days per month for my former boss. He left the corporation we both worked for, bought a small company & asked if I would help him out. It is kind of fun as no stress but it is about 100k (one way) from my home so I am off for a drive tomorrow and I will even be able to wear my sunglasses as it is supposed to be sunny - lovely! Jean perhaps we will both be turning our faces to the sun!

Doug There must be something in the air as I too have started to 'bug' out. Good thought connecting our wt loss & health improvement journey with the other 'fat' in our lives

Wooken3 tks for the Earth Day poster, it made me smile!

Smilesback thanks for your encouragement about this techie stuff. Well here is my question pls If I enter a comment in the "Newsfeed" option on my profile page, who sees this comment? Does it go to everyone on MFP or ?

Have a good day everyone & I shall try to park as far as I can from the main door to the office tmrw so I walk a few more steps & as the office is only on the second floor I plan to take the stairs

Marion...I am not totally sure but I think only your "Friends" can see posts on your Newsfeed....

I went to see my cousin today in his Nursing Home...he has dementia and was pretty much asleep.

He is in the town where we both used to live...I left 40 years ago and used to go back to see my Mum, who is no longer with us, and now to see him every couple of weeks. Today I found a new Coffee Shop which was delightful. I usually end up in Costa when I have spent time with Peter.... just a bit of time to myself after the often difficult visit...but I will now be going to this new little shop called Cafe Moments instead.....I just had a small toasted teacake and a filter coffee which was my lunch......Will be away this weekend, will try to log on on my phone so as to keep my Streak going...lol...but may not be commenting here unless I take my laptop..... have a great end of the week and weekend everyone!:flowerforyou:

Have fun Jean this weekend - where you going, someplace warm? I like that you find something pleasurable visiting family - even like a new coffee shop! I am settling down about my Dad who has dementia and delusional thinking. He has been attacking me and my son as well as my stepmother who moved out a couple years ago. He hired a helper now because she is moving out of state. She has been such a saint to him! I don't want to visit my Dad - just was there in Feb. Most of me thinks that's okay that I not visit him until I feel like it. I don't want to get upset or upset him either Kinda a bad situation either way :indifferent. Anyways, today is a new day, right ladies? I walked an hour and getting exercise as part of my lifestyle is easier today. I will start to focus on not eating so much. What are you working on?

Smiles...we are going down to London to visit our son ... for Christmas he bought us a voucher to go up the Shard...new skyscraper, tallest building in London, followed by a meal in a posh restaurant, so we are going down to do all that! I am hoping to get some walking in, maybe not running but we usually walk round cities...will wear pedometer to keep track....have to say I drive my hubby crazy sometimes when I have not done enough steps and I start jogging or marching on the spot........lol:bigsmile:

I have to say...dementia is a terrible disease...I went through it with my Mum and now I am the only relative to visit my cousin..... he can be agressive , placid, sweet or nasty and swearing...today he was asleep.....so sad
