SIDE NOTE FOR ANYONE THAT READS ALL OF THESE> USE SUN BLOCK, DON'T LAY OUT, DON'T USING TANNING BEDS. Spent the last two days inside staying out of the sun and fluorescent lights due to having a procedure called, "Photodynamic Therapy" for skin issues. OR don't believe or listen to me because it will never happen to you. End of lesson. Now back to your regularly scheduled posts.0 -

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa!!!! That's a cancer treatment. Uhhhhhh, are you treating precancerous lesions? You are doing a lot of activity for someone with the cancers those are approved for. Is that being used for something I'm not aware of?

is website that I've seen that explains it pretty well. I don't have the "C" word, but I've had bouts with basal cell. The PDT is a preventative procedure treating precancerous issues that if left untreated become cancerous. I'm not a Dr., but that is what I've gathered. As the website explains they use PDT for acne situations as well. I wear a hat as often as possible when I'm outside and I'll be using more sunscreen in the future. Long sleeve shirts might be a good idea as well.
Sorry to the moderators if I steered us off course at all.0 -
Glad to hear it's pre cancer basal cells. Makes me think I should be wearing more sunscreen when I ride.0

=============================New total 64.5 miles all bonus from now on
JOEMO - I reluctantly have to admit I'm not much of a sunblock wearer as I rarely ever burn and I don't deliberately try to tan. But I'm sure I am still taking a fair amount of risk, even as far north here as Minnesota. Thanks for the Public Service Announcement. And I hope you're okay. (Later note: I just read your explanation and thanks for sharing that. Don't worry about being "on topic" with us. We're not so rigid that all we talk about is the fitness aspect....we are a group of friends that care and support each other and anyone in this thread is encouraged to share anything they like about whatever is going on with them. I don't want to have random political or religious discussions here lol, but if there's something someone is dealing with or wants to share, please feel free.)
I got a nice half-hour or so ride in this evening for 6.5 miles bringing me to MTD 106.9.

Somehow I have been moving less on the weekends recently. :frown: Only added 7 miles this weekend. I still should reach goal today. Really really early in the month for me.
May total 91.5 miles.
@JOEMO I hope your treatment is successful. After 20+years in the Navy and 20+years at the Post Office, my father had many, many run ins with basal cell carcinomas so his Docs treated him with a similar procedure which left him embarressed and a bit miserable for weeks. BUT.....while we still watch, he has had far fewer problems with skin lesions since then.
On a different note, I always like reading about where you've been hiking. Makes me really, really jealous, but until I can afford to travel more, living through the movers here will have to do.
Sounds like many of you had a wonderful weekend. I'm really looking forward to our next few days here with........SUNSHINE!!!! Keep on moving everyone.....even if you feel like you are behind, you can still get plenty of moving in by the end of May. :flowerforyou:0 -
It's been a while since I've been able to log. Trust me, I've been walking! But unfortunately it's been at the hospital. My husband had a TIA (mini stroke) last week, completely took us both by surprise. He's lucky enough to have all memory, speech, vision and for the most part mobility. With that said, I'm adding 26.46 for a total of 52 mtd0

Wow! That was unexpected. Glad to hear he is doing well and that so far there is no diminished mental ability. Rough way to get your miles though.0 -
