Take care my friends and keep walking strong and happy! I see some mighty fine miles being walked :drinker: . August is a rough month with the heat and humidity for some of us :glasses: . I'm right there with you, and I have to go out when the sun is barely up. And even so, sometimes I feel like I'm "...walking through a giant wet paper towel..." as Ann so aptly described the humidity with a great word picture for us.

Toot Toot!!! I walked 6 miles this morning and did a personal best. My fastest mile 14:25, my average mile was 15:10 and my fastest mile was 4.6. I started adding a banana before my walks the past two days and what a difference it has made. Who knew?
If I wasn't so sore I would have kept walking. Have a great day every one.

WOW PinkyPan! Breaking that 15 minute mile barrier on real terrain is such an accomplishment!! "Walking like a runner" as Leslie says. Congratulations! :drinker: I can do it in Michigan where the terrain is flatter, but here in NY, where I am in the sumer, there are too many darn hills that slow me down!! Nice Job! :bigsmile:0 -
thank you so much ladies! I can't tell you how excited I am! I am where I want to be for the wedding and may be able to pull off a few more pounds by sept 14. I haven't been in onederland since I had my son 29 years ago, so this is pretty exciting for me. I still have a long way to go to get where I want to be but it doesn't seem so far away anymore!!!
Leslies walking dvds have helped me so much! I enjoy the exercise now and even though I have to drag myself out of bed to do it some mornings I am doing it. Winter has always been hard on me because I hated driving in the snow to the gym, now I will be in my comfy home and not have to worry about it so it won't slow me down. I feel so good!

Hey, that's an excellent idea. I bring a fruit (apple, banana, nectarine,...) or some vegs (cherry tomatoes, red peppers, ..) with me. It's very comforting to have it in my pocket while I walk. After a mile or so i take out my fruit (or whatever I brought with me) and eat it very slowly, tasting every bit of it. It tastes better when you're outside and have time to eat slowly.
Today I felt urge to go to kitchen and eat something (in my case a banana). I said to myself, "OK go fetch it, put it in your pocket and go for a walk. While you're walking you are free to eat it". I did that and 2 miles later I was home :happy:0 -
An additional 6 miles this morning. I got to walk in the rain again and it felt sooooooooooooooo good! Walk strong Walkers and smile!

I think need to change from miles walked to minutes walked, that will be much easier for me to keep up with...I love to walk with/on my Wii and have no idea the actual miles I walk, so instead of "guess-ta-mating" I'm changing to minutes....
So since almost half the month is already over, (I have been walking) I'm gong to change to : 500 minutes for the rest of the month
