So on a whim I decided to do an egg fast, to see if I can get my weight loss rolling again. Day one wasn't so bad. Let's see if I can make it through day two!

Made it through day two. But I feel like I ate way to many calories today. I made cream cheese pancakes for dinner. They were yummy!

You go! My love of variation makes the egg fast seem a little intimidating to me. Huh, same thing with a regular fat fast. Then again, I do love cream cheese pancakes. Wishing you great success, let us know how it goes.

Great loss though. I get the not looking another yoke in the eye. I was so burned out on eggs to begin with. Now I space them out enough to keep them tolerable. I do not think I am tough enough to do an egg fast.

Not a fast, but I eat 18 eggs/week or so.

Sucks in California, new chicken cage law went in to effect on Jan 1st and egg prices are skyrocketing. :(

Today was my first day and I'm already sick of eggs. Breakfast was great; three scrambled eggs with butter. Lunch, not so much. I made the egg salad. I thought I was going to regurgitate. How will I make it through 5 days? This might be it.

lol, sorry to hear your frustration.

But really people, an egg fast?? Isn't keto already enough of a hack?

In my case I think it's going to have be enough. I was trying to reset after making some bad choices. Not sure if I can follow through.

Easiest way around it, go to a feedstore this spring and get yourself 6 sexed hen chicks. They're cute and they'll get really friendly if handled. In 8-9 months youll have more eggs than you know what to do with. A 15 buck bag of good feed lasts 4-6 weeks. I never knew having the girls would help with keto, also they eat the cooking scraps and are more than happy to dispose of any baking mishaps.

Hmm, I've never heard of the egg fast before, so I had to read up on it. It certainly sounds interesting! I will have to keep this in mind when I stall out (it happens to us all at some point ! )

I do know, during my first round with MFP, and keto I hit a stall around 160 lbs. I wish I would have heard about this before I went off track and became a train wreck again. Although, at least I know now that I can in fact lose the weight, and there are better ways to break a stall. My same mistakes will not be repeated I can tell you that much lol.

That said, please do keep us posted on how this works out for you.

I don't do egg fasts. Eggs and me are taking a break. Except for deviled eggs. But I DO increase my fat as high as I can for a while after a carb oops. Extra butter, cheese, sour cream, fat bombs, fatter meat, animal fat, or eating cream cheese off a spoon (my current fave) while keeping my carbs as low as possible. Tastier IMO. But really, if even that drives you nuts, just do regular Keto and avoid cheating that kicks you out in the first place and be patient, and/or try an IF instead to treat a stall.

    Just my 33.5 cents.

I bumped myself out of Keto last weekend (much needed {and appreciated}) girls weekend. I'm back at it working hard to get back into Keto and think once I've been there for a few days, I'll try the egg fast. Anyone else thinking of going for it? Maybe we can commiserate together?
  • I haven't read the link yet.. getting ready to. So the egg fast, isn't where you fast FROM eggs, but you eat more?? I could do it. I haven't been eating many. I will definitely keep this mind, as Minerva said, for future plateaus! *hugs*

My egg fast chewed up a bunch of time searching the inter webs for egg recipes. It unfortunately did not chew anything off my *kitten*. On an up note....buffalo egg salad is the bomb.

Nice to stumble upon this. My wt. loss has stalled and I am looking for a re-boot. I have kept it off but want to lose 1-2lb/week. Any other ways to re-boot- please share them with me. Reading the info on the egg fast right now.

    Tks for any pointers.

A 24 hour water fast does it for me. Works every time I try it.

    I hope this helps,

There is always IF in the form of a daily eating window. I've been doing a 16:8. I eat my calories between noon and 7 or 8pm. I'm not sure if it was me upping my fat or the IF, but after things poking along to the tune of two-tenths of a pound a week (if that) for a long while, things have started moving downward faster again.

Yes, the egg fast and fat fast is the exact opposite of what you think it is!
I like the egg fast way compared to fat fast, although it basically is the same concept...getting your carbs to zero, minimal protein, and high fat.

Yeah, that is a good way too. I try to practice that a little too. One other thing that I probably didn't post correctly. I say 24 hour water fast. That isn't what I do actually. That would have me eating every day. Actually what I do is, I skip an entire day ~ from eating. So, if I eat my last meal today at 6:00 pm (Monday), I won't eat until sometime Wednesday. I even hold out as long as noon (or longer) on Wednesday. So I guess technically, that's a 36 hour fast.

    I hope this helps,

In response to breaking plateaus... I cut out dairy for a while but I know dairy doesn't affect everyone the same.

I know IF really helped the bf when he had been stalled for over a year!! He started with an 8 hour eating window and felt so great he gradually reduced it to a one hour eating window. He did that for about 6 months but then found his energy (and other things) low so he's gone back up to about a 6 hour window and has never felt better. He actually has to watch he doesn't lose too much weight now! So every now and then he just has a "cheat weekend". Also about once every couple of weeks he does what Dan the Man does and will just skip a day of eating basically.
