I'm loving this post and seeing everyones beautiful pups. Dogs truly are amazing.

Gnulie...Im glad to hear your bt with issues is 11 and going strong. Puppy mills and backyard breeders who are only in it for a buck are infuriating. I knew I wanted to adopt and was looking for a boston mix...our little pure bred kinda just fell into out lap from one of the rescue groups I fostered through. Not only does Gertie have yeast/allergy issues, she needed patella surgery, has seasonal hairloss, and a fearful/unconfident nature...we've been working on it and she's made great progress.

Disappearingtwinkie...may I ask how you fed/dealt with your sweet late bubble dog, Einstein, to combat his yeast? I'd love any tips/suggestions from someone who has battled this directly.

She's basically a cat disguised as a dog. Smart, agile, friendly but a little aloof. I was reading my kindle, and it caused a reflection on the ceiling. She started chasing it around just like a cat.

She's beautiful. Where did you manage to get a full grown sheltie?

This post is really making me miss my Cupcake. She is a pit mix, and when we moved to Houston it was so hard to find a place to live with her, so I eventually sent her to live with my oldest daughter in the country in upstate NY.

My daughter's piano teacher runs Shelties for agility. This one didn't get along well with her other dogs, so she offered her to us. She's housebroken and well trained. We couldn't resist.

Jon Stewart bought a farm in NJ to protect abused farm animals. My dream. There is so much abuse and sadness.
If you have ever loved a pet, you should never tolerate the abuse of those less fortunate.

That's awesome. I'm jealous. My hubby wants a sheltie, but he plans to pay hundreds of dollars to buy and fly a puppy here. I don't like the idea at all. I like to pick my pups in person, not via the internet, and I don't like the thought of them flying alone. We aren't getting a dog at all until we get a house, though.

They can be great dogs, but some can be a little neurotic. Our last Sheltie was so needy that we got another dog to keep her entertained and take some of the burden off of us. That second dog turned out to be our favorite dog ever -- a Border Collie / Lab mix. All the smarts of a Border Collie with all of the affection of a Lab. The perfect dog.

My girl is also enjoying the new meats and fats in my diet. Usually she does not get much though because I eat it all!filkszfoygz9.jpg

@wabmester She's beautiful! Raw meat? I've never known anyone who fed their dog a raw meat diet. Must be a good thing to do if you're doing it. :)

My 16 year old Paleo Puppy has been a turkey & chicken-meat eating dog for all the years I've had her (14) rescued at 2 yrs from a cheap s*** neighbor who barely fed her any crappy dry food, kept her on a chain 24/7 and she had to crawl under a shed for shelter in the worst weather.

But the love is strong in this one……and I chose my profile pic caused it looked like her, attitude and all.

    Paleo nutrition:
I used to buy 12* huge frozen turkeys during Nov. when the stores promote them very cheap…for .25 cents to 50 cents a pound…she & her pal got the turkey meat daily once I roasted it…and I know this is what has kept her so strong and RUNNING a mile+ a day 365 a year..she demands 2 walks a day…bless her heart. If I don't leave by 3pm she comes and "escorts" me to the car as a hint. She's slower now, but still strong due to real meat and some quality dry food. (*you need a big deep freezer) Shakari..the red rocket dog

I had a border collie lab mix once. She was so sweet!

Here is our canine furbaby, ET (stray when hubby was working on an Effluent Treatment project and he showed up there, hence the "ET"). He is a 14 year old mix and has been the best dog. In the picture he is on the cats bed, lol! Don't have any pictures of the cat (Oscar) who is solid black, and is about the same age as the dog. So, we have a couple of senior animals now. I will be sad, but will know we have given them the best life we could.

I have three rescue Boston's (can you say "foster failure"?) two with no skin issues and the newest one with bad yeast issues. I would not have a problem with switching them from kibble to a homemade low carb diet but need some suggestions, as I am limited budget wise to even what my OWN food can be. What are some good combos I can fees three dogs? I had a friend that would do boiled hamburger, veggies and brown rice, but I think the rice would not work for my "issues" girl.

Check out this website, it was my go to when I first stared raw for my 2 dogs.
    http://www.rawdogranch.com

There should be calculator to figure out how much of what your dog should eat.

If you have any questions let me know. My dogs were 100% raw fed for almost 8 years.
