Wannab - would you consider weighing daily and using an app which helps you see the trends? I like the Libra app.

Keep it up! Question which days do you weight yourself? I fluctuate so much throughout the week and I'm always up on Monday, trying to determine when is a good day.

Best weigh in day is one to minimize known expected water weight fluctuations:

Morning after rest day eating normal sodium levels, not sore from last workout.

Like Sat is my only day, and if I blow it by eating Chinese on Fri, don't even bother because it's meaningless to me, I can't even compare how much more that day may have added since prior morning wasn't valid either to have good before/after numbers to use.
I find it more interesting to see lbs loss from a long bike ride, I know that is lost water and if I drank enough to keep it low number.

If not bothered by the extra noise of invalid data that can lend to an average trend, then daily with an app.
If it messes with mind from fast gains/losses - then only valid days, maybe only weekly too.

Ya. Sunday is a rest day for me so Mondays are good. Weds are lowest (Monday is a lift and Tuesday is cardio so I'm sure it's because I've shed water weight). But it's always the same day over time so it's all good.

Ok, Sat & Sun are usually my rest days but I do run on Saturdays when I miss a workout during the week. Also I tend to have wine on Fri & Sat and I feel like I get dehydrated/ or gain water weight if I eat out etc. Mondays I'm always up about two lbs. I;m thinking sticking to Friday mornings.

So....let me give you my daily weigh ins for week 11.

    Mon 191
Tues and weds no weigh ins camping
    thurs 193.4
    Frid 193.4
    Sat 191.6
    Sun 194.4
    Mon 193.2

Camping this week threw off my target cals a smidge but my burn was higher too....so I should have been ok. A couple of things going on....my son heads off to his freshman year of college on Friday...my first one to leave...can you say stress??? Also, working in the kitchen for 3 hrs 3 nights a week in humidity (NO ac...sweating all night...) makes for water retention. And I had a couple workouts that I was very sore the next 2 days.

I'll be wrapping up my last week of reset. Cal goal 2400 and then on to cutting on Sept 7.

So you will be starting out within 5 lbs of when you did the restart (if I read your notes correctly), that is terrific.

I am excited to see where you go from here. I stayed within 5 lbs also (for 8 weeks), before starting a small cut (shooting for .5 per week). So far I have gone down only 1 lb. but I am only in my 3rd week and it never goes downwards smoothly for me anyway :p

Yes...give or take. My weight was really bouncing around the last few months before my reset. I was as low as 174 for a bit. And then lived around 186 mostly. After Memorial Day (big cookout) I was 190...then did 3 weeks of 1200 to see if I got movement ...I did...got to 179.6. But my first week after reset I was 186.6 so I really count that number....So not even 4 lbs from there. I say I'm ok with that. I don't like seeing 190 on the scale but I saw it anyway after a cookout before reset and eating much less so it's relative.

I feel really happy about what the reset did for me in terms of mental health. I'm in such a good place now. I'm comfortable with my body for the first time in my life. I'm enjoying food without bingeing and I'm working out daily even though I'm not "dieting" for the first time in my life.....I'm an all or nothing person and this has been a lesson in moderation. Middle ground. I've liked it.

I'm going to begin my cut at 2k. It looks like that might be between 15% and 20 % but I think it will give me some wiggle room when I undercalculate and overeat some days. LOL

Thank you all! I still can't believe it. I started this white knuckling the whole thing and am now like...eh whatever. I'll lose it. It's not time yet. LOL I'm ready though. Not panicky ready like before...just ready. I'm not looking for huge numbers just a downward trend over time. I hope more people realize we ALL started out in a panic. But you have to go through it. It's only 12 weeks. Seems like forever at the beginning but it flies by because you stop focusing on it...stop waiting for numbers. It's so freeing.

    Good Luck!!
I'm right there with you. I've gained 6lbs on my reset, was freaking out the first 4 weeks, and Just yesterday it hit me, I was like, meh, I could care less about doing a cut now. I could probably eat another month at TDEE and be ok with this. I'm more worried about how hungry I'll be during the cut, not looking forward to that at all. Its amazing the mental shift you have doing a reset - as hard as it is/was and then the ah-ha moment when your ok with it all. Just bizarre.

    UPDATE!!!!
    WEEK 12 2577 eaten + 3.2 2520 burned

So started this at 179.6 after 3 weeks of 1200 (was 190.0 lbs just before that).

Ended at 196.4 so...the first week at 186.6 is what I was counting or I could say 190....I'm either up 5.8lbs or 9.8 lbs.

This past week, I missed 1 lifting session and 2 cardio sessions and 1 work. Dropped my oldest son off at college....hello cortisol. LOL

So if I take 9.8 as actual gain....average cals eaten over 12 weeks 2639. Burned 2572 Surplus of 67 per day...which should have equated to almost 2 lbs weight gain. BUT....since it was 9.8 lbs....10X3500=35,000 /12=2917/7=417 cals surplus per day. 2577avg eaten -417 surplus =2160. Could be actual TDEE.

However, with Cortisol and chinese food last night and alcohol too....I'm not taking that figure.

Cutting begins today. 2k Will continue to document as I go along.

    Anything I'm missing?

Additionally...if I take 5.8 as the number.....6x3500=21,000/12=1750/7=250 surplus per day. Avg cals eaten 2639-250=2389 actual TDEE. So 2389-15% deficit =2030. Which would put be in line with 2k that I think.

More data is the only way to tell.

As long as starting on the high side.

At least you aren't one in the forums that barely understands that math, and thinks it should be applied to eating 1200 and not losing, or 1 lb in 6 weeks say, and then running the metabolism in to the ground even more.

Yup. LOL And here is a shot from before break and yesterday. Sorry for the quality...only full length mirror in the house is in my son's room and it was dusty. But....I do look bigger in the belly which I felt all along anyway so no surprise there. Everywhere else is comparable. Legs and hips appear smaller to me....we will see what happens when the water leaves. qd70w91n6cqc.jpg

I have no advise but I have to say that if you gained 10lbs It doesn't show from the pics. I can see what you say about the midsection but that could be a combination of being bloated/retaining water. I'm having the same problem so I can relate. Is like all the food is going straight to the belly. Someone even asked my husband if we were expecting.... ohhh the joys of eating more calories and resetting.

Thanks...I'm not really worried about the weight gain which is weird. I just felt so good mentally it was worth whatever, you know? Dropped a couple pounds overnight. Expect about 6 ish this week. Would be nice to start at 189. Then I'd know the true water is gone and I think probably 3 lbs of real fat gained is the real answer. We'll see. Excited to see how this cut goes.

Mid week check. Cutting sucks. LOL I'm so hungry. Too hungry. Had a stomach pain yesterday (maybe a bug) so that didn't help.
    Mon cals 1932 burned 2414
    Tues cals 1990 burned 2848
    Weds cals 2690 burned 2648
    Thurs cals 2357 burned 2652
    Frid cals 2238 burned 2747

So avg cals is 2236 instead of my plan for 2k. Burned avg so far 2662 . So deficit avg is 426 per day. So about 16% deficit. I really really really hope my body media is accurate because that is good.

I couldn't really tell if it was accurate on the reset since I had water weight gain going on the whole time but I'm hoping it's better now.

Anyway....dieting sucks but I still have to do it so. Boo.

Looks like it is trending downwards.

At least you are "dieting" on over 2K, imagine how you would be feeling if trying to do 1200/1300 instead. B)

I'm still here....trying to get my deficit numbers down.

    Wk 1 -1.6
    Wk 2 same
    Wk 3 -1.8

Honestly I expected a big whoosh at the beginning from water weight. Didn't happen. So I'd hoped to be in the 180's to start dieting down again (where I was at the beginning). Didn't happen. LOL

I'm still playing with the numbers and will post eaten burned as I get it dialed in. Clothes from before are still tightly unwearable but I can get into them. Weight is 193 Remember I started at 186.

Also, am thinking of switching to fit bit (not sure which one yet and am open to suggestions) and ditching the bodymedia.....my concern is that bodymedia is still the most accurate. Anyone have thoughts or comments or suggestions?

And something else...I'm having a little issue with my body media armband....Weds for example. Cleaned my house for 3 hours. Walk/ran (c25k) 1 hour (did 4.5 miles)....plus all the other normal stuff. Steps came in at 12958. Now, for 4..5 miles at my height , it would be about 2300 steps per mile so 10350. So that's 2605 steps not counting the walk. Now...Sunday, my rest day, and I was sedentary mostly except 3 hr night job where I'm on my feet but not walking around at all...I got 5342 steps. Could my armband be dying on me?
