New things you've discovered recently

Well my apologies if you don't like that I asked for the sake of my children, since Sunny had mentioned benefits being something she had discovered and I had more questions. I thought that was the idea of a forum was to have candid discussions, and I "discovered" something new and potentially beneficial from this thread.0

@newsue52 I totally understand your feelings on that. It happens a lot in threads that there will be other sub conversations going on. You just never know what will come from someone's post and how it might help someone else. I tend to skim past the stuff that doesn't relate to me, but I definitely am so happy you shared your new things. I've heard of those flax crackers before, I've made some too with just flax meal and water then in the oven to dry them till crisp. They worked but didn't taste delicious even after adding seasoning. I'm going to have to try the flackers and see if they work better. +1 on the bigelow tea, I just had a cup of there very kind, its so yummy. I also had read where you can steep them in milk to make a flavored creamer for your coffee, if your into that kind of stuff. Sounds so good.
@ashleyc1023 I don't think there was any ill meaning in Sue's post. I'm glad you and @sunny_bunny_ were able to share so much information. You just never know where a thread will lead to0 -
I did not mean to be insulting. However, I got lost in the discussion that might have been better as a private message. You can always email someone if you want more information. I agree that the forum is for candid discussion. Perhaps the discussion of ADHD warrants a thread of its own especially if it is a topic that will benefit others. It might not be serving the greater good buried in another discussion0

that's a really good point, there was tons of information in there that might not be seen by others if they don't wander into this thread0 -
Except private messages aren't shared with the world. I find lots of things via google that are in this group. But I'm done. I'm glad I could get some insight from someone helpful out of it, other than snack ideas.0

I suppose I'm the one that started the subject matter. But it is still something I've discovered recently. It's only recent couple months that I've been applying the use of MCT this way.
What's the point of sharing a great Ketogenic product in a thread about new discoveries if not to discuss it?
I've learned a lot about things that don't apply to me directly, like PCOS and cholesterol. I find it to be very interesting and helps to build a greater understanding of overall health. So, it didn't occur to me that we two were the only audience that might be interested in the info.
Apologies.0 -
I totally have to try that Walden farms pancake syrup. My sister sent me a recipe for lc waffles using protein powder, they look so good but I need syrup on waffles. Though I will make a carb exception for pure maple syrup, I'd like to be able to enjoy more than occasionally0

@Sunny_Bunny_ I'm sure there are others interested in the info as well. I don't have an ADHD Dx but I struggle with focus, and one of my twins has possible symptoms.
New things I've discovered ... I mentioned this in another thread, but I'm glad I hit upon a version of BPC that I actually like. 1/2 Tbsp of coconut oil, 30 ml of HWC, some SF syrup and 2 cups of coffee. Yum. I hope to gradually increase the coconut oil, though I might try MCT oil instead.
Also, my new favorite (and super quick) keto treat:
2 Tbsp nut butter, 2 Tbsp unsweetened coconut flakes, about 1 Tbsp of raw cacao nibs and a bit of splenda, all mixed together and microwaved for maybe 30 seconds. So tasty and I think it might replace my former cookie dough addiction.0 -
I discovered today that 1/8 tsp of my salt free potassium "salt" in my big water bottle actually made it taste BETTER. I drank it like a mad mad in the desert and therefore almost rendering the potassium supplements I bought yesterday, useless.
1/8tsp provided over 300mg potassium while the supplements were $9 for 100 @99mg each.
I bought the lite salt so long ago, I don't remember how much it was, but I know it's way more cost effective. Someone on here mentioned it a while ago (which is why I tried it) Just wish I would have "remembered" it before buying the supplements. Whatever. I'm keto for life. I'll get around to them I suppose.0 -
I also have officially linked diet pop/soda with marked cravings, hunger and difficulty sticking to plan for up to 3 days. And that I can't eat more than 4 of my italian sausages that I eat as "junk food" without having bathroom problems due to the oat hull powder. I figured that's the "junk food" part in them but as it's likely just fiber carbs I should be ok. Apparently more than 4 provides a little too much fiber.0

@MerryOne00 How does afternoon caffiene affect your sleep? Sounds yum but I think I would be up all night in a manic can not sleep phase, chatting online to all the USA folk who are still in daylight hours. Going to try hwc n butter for a change yo my bpc tomorrow.0 -

Good question. I can't even have a cup of TEA after 3pm because I have trouble falling asleep. A cup of coffee would see me pinging off the walls and talking a mile a minute to anyone who'd listen

I've never been sensitive to caffeine and always have a cup of tea at night. However, I've really been struggling with insomnia since I went VLC. I'm wondering if it's made me sensitive to caffeine or it's just my body's reaction to all the extra energy.
I struggled with insomnia from age 5 to 35, which included 5 years on Ambien. I'd literally tried everything you could imagine and nothing worked. But after kicking the Ambien 5 years ago I sleep like a whole different person, that was until recently.
Have any other former insomniacs had a reoccurrence with this woe.0 -

Insomnia can be a side effect especially in the beginning. Some people find taking magnesium before bed to be helpful.0 -
Caffeine seemingly has no effect on me. I'm sometimes have a cappuccino shortly before going to bed.
As to things I've discovered: Fairlife whole milk. Half the carbs of regular milk. I use it to make espresso beverages.0 -
Ooh, @anglyn1, I do miss the lattes I used to make. I'll have to try some Fairlife! How is the taste?0

Man, I'm so jealous of all the cool stuff you guys can get in the U.S. The lowest carb milk I've been able to find has 9g per 250ml0 -
@macchiatto I think it tastes pretty much like regular milk. My husband says it has a weird aftertaste but I don't notice. Maybe it's been too long since I've had real milk and I've never drank it without espresso. It steams and froths perfectly!

I think I am middle of the road with caffeine sensitivity. I drink about 28 oz of coffee in the morning (before 9) and about 60 oz of tea in the mid day (10 - 3). I don't have any problems falling or staying asleep. I get 8 or 9 hours a night. A few months back, before Keto and before afternoon tea, I tried an afternoon coffee but that did cause me problems with restless sleep.
Now, I have good sleep, lots of Keto dreams but they don't bother me. I find it interesting all the places my mind wanders. So no late nights chats for me0 -
I wish I could drink caffeinated beverages in the evenings. A nice latte before bed would be so awesome if it didn't prevent me from getting the rest I need. Speaking of which, my discovery was unsweetened almond/coconut milk, which is what I use to make lattes.0

I'll have to throw "Heavy Tea" out there. It is awesome. I know many of you have heard me talk about it, but for those that haven't, I take a cup of stronger tea, typically a flavored black or herbal, and add 1 tbsp of Coconut Oil, 2 oz of Heavy Cream, and 1 tsp of unsweetened Cocoa powder. It turns many of teas into a dessert, just without the carbs or sweetness. One cup has 330 calories and will hold me until lunchtime.
I've tried it with Vanilla Mint Pu-Erh, Java Fusion Black, Cinnamon Plum Herbal, Berry Much Black, Creme Brullee Black, and even Fudge Brownie Black. Anything that Cocoa and Coconut would taste good in. I often add mint tea to the black tea when making it. Sometimes it tastes like a Mounds and other times like a Mint patty. All without the sugar. The cocoa, coconut, mint, and creaminess from the heavy cream all combine for an awesome combination.0 -
Ok so I had a big day at work. Lots of technical and stressing activities. Interesting but difficult in terms of constantly alert. Had 630am BPC then at 11am I had a cappucino. It is 11pm and I am on here chattering away in a manic can not sleep manner as my dog peaceful snores nearby. Sticking to just the early bpc in future!0
