No haven't had morning sickness at all I've been lucky but I did go off a lot of food and couldn't eat big portions of anything. But I lost 1lb last week and I've no idea why as I haven't been counting and had a good appetite!

@DaniKane are you tracking your calories? I find that really helps. You could also be bloated and retaining water.

Eliz, I lost until week 13 then started going up, but still haven't gone back to my start point and I am 23 weeks now :) So don't fret about eating more :) Great work so far!

Into the second trimester! I'm so relieved, I'm feeling much better and now I can stop stressing so much because you are actually "supposed" to gain weight in the second trimester. Not feeling great about gaining almost 5lbs already but what can I do.

I'm not sure if I'm going to up my calories from maintenance yet...I seem to be gaining just fine. If I don't gain 1/2 a pound a week I'll start eating more. I also don't weigh all my food so I might be eating a bit more than I think I am.

I'm also debating on if I should add calories or not... I eat between 1700 and 2100 daily (if I exercise) so I think it's enough?! I'll see.

So total this pregnancy I gained about 35lbs (I am 5'7", SW: 130, FW: 165?) I actually don't know my true final weight in but I'm guessing it was 165. I am one week pp and have lost 21lbs already belly almost completely down. Guess it was good I kept in shape the whole time, also really think it helped with my labour, delivery and recovery :)

Thanks for sharing! I bookmarked it. I need to create a few full body workouts because I just can't manage going 4x a week anymore, so no more body splits for me. Plus, I want to do 1x workout a week at home, at least... So I'll definitely use some of your workouts/exercises! :)

Thanks for sharing! I was near my goal weight and gaining muscle when I got pregnant. I just started my second trimester and finally feeling better. I've been trying to piece together a pregnancy friendly routine (I don't feel comfortable using barbells) so your plan is really helpful!

5'3" starting weight on doctor's scale: 130 lbs
    8 weeks: 130
    12 weeks: 132
    16 weeks: 138
    20 weeks: 147
    25 weeks: 150
    28 weeks: 153
    30 weeks: 153

    So far: 23 lbs

I gained a ton in the middle, which is typical for me (baby #4). But still more than I would have liked. Luckily it's backed off a bit. (home scale this morning says I'm up 25 total). Had been hoping to only gain about 25 lbs, but looks like I'll be closer to 30 which is fine. 1st pregnancy weight gain: 23 lbs, 2nd: 46 lbs (haha), 3rd: 22 lbs. I also am lucky enough to have gestational diabetes with this one (as well as my 1st).

I'd been having a really hard time keeping up with my workouts because I am so exhausted by the end of the work day. This week I got up 45 minutes early and worked out (gym is in my condo building) before work. It was so much better! I had the energy to get through my workout and actually felt less tired during the day.

@spunkychelsea can I ask if there was anything different about the pregnancies where you go GD? Just curious, diabetes runs in my family so I'm trying to be extra careful.

@LisaTcan Diabetes runs rampant in my family too, but I'm the only one to get GD so far? My first pregnancy (@ 5'3") I started out 157 lbs I gained pretty slow and steadily after 20 weeks - up until then I had lost 6 lbs and then gained just that back (23 lbs total). So they told me it was family history + being overweight. My 2nd I started out 147 lbs but I thought I'd have GD again (much more likely if you've had it before) so I gained weight like crazy all through out (a risk factor is putting on too much weight too fast pregnant). I didn't have GD and gained 46 lbs total. My 3rd I started out 135 lbs gained at a reasonable pace and 22 lbs total. My 4th I started out 127 lbs (my scale not dr).

The explanation I've had for years has been I was pregnant with different genders, and I think this pregnancy just reinforces it. My 1st was a boy, 4th a boy, 2nd & 3rd girls - no GD. There was a 30 lb difference in starting weight (greatly decreasing my chances). I'm older but really I'll have had 4 kids in a 5 year span, so I'm not THAT much older (27 vs 31). I finally googled GD and boys and it said you have a 7% more likely chance to get it with boys (probably not much of a difference, and I didn't check to see how/where they got that number) but it seems true for me.

So really what it comes down to hormones. My placenta and everything worked normally with my girls and for some reason I just can't process sugars the same with my boys. I thought if I got down to a "normal" weight I could prevent it from coming back, but that obviously didn't work. So for me there was nothing I could do to predict or prevent. Best of luck avoiding it! I think only like 10% of women get it, so hopefully you'll be one of the 90%!

@spunkychelsea thanks for all the info! My mom has pretty severe type II (insulin dependent) and had GD as well. I'm a healthy weight and very active and trying to keep an eye on sugars and carbs. I think part of it is just chance/genetics though so I'll have to wait and see.

Very interesting you only had it with boys! Congrats on your 4th :)

I ended up upping my calories from 1800 to 2000 this week just because I was so incredibly hungry! It also coincided with my uterus totally popping and needing to buy maternity wear so I guess baby is growing.

Whoop whoop! Exciting news about the bump appearing! I have a good appetite too, and also just want carbs and high calorie stuff all the time. Have to remind myself to try the healthier options first and see how I go, but sometimes temptations gets the better of me....

I feel you ladies! I'm 15 weeks and super hungry. I also am wearing my maternity jeans, much more comfortable although they're still a little big in the belly area. I'm up 6 pounds so far.

My weight has been a bit erratic the last three weeks, going up and down. I think it is due to fluid as yesterday when I took my socks off I had massive indents in my ankles. I have been eating a lots of carbs too, so trying to reel that back in a bit (not a great start though as we had waffles for brunch - oh well, onwards and upwards!). Still 2.3 pounds less than I was to start with.

OMG, I just looked up what I was at the start of week 25 in my past pregnancies, and in number 1 I was up 22 pounds and in number 2 I was up 17.5 pounds. I do not have the records for pregnancy 3 here, but it was along the same lines. So still being a couple of pounds below start weight at the end of second trimester feels amazing!

That isn't really so bad! I hear that the ideal is 10lbs at 20 weeks. I'm almost 16 weeks and at 7lbs already.
