    Check out
    eatingacademy.com

They have some great lectures on how the body burns carbs and fats and interplay of insulin. Very informative!

Thank you for the links. I enjoyed reading them and they were very informative. I was really interested in the stats behind the 40-48 hr fast.

Yeah, I'm planning on adding that in once I get into a good groove with OMAD for the extra fat burning effects. It's definitely some interesting stuff. I'm also really intrigued by the cognitive benefits from fasting too. My Grandmother had Alzheimer's, so I've always had that on my "radar", so to speak, as something to be conscious of.

Day two successfully down... I will say I was "bad" in that I did have a second bowl of curry chicken for dinner, even though I was already full. It's mainly an issue of having "left-overs" since I'm so used to making big meals. That's something I'm working on -- I'll just store any extra food I have on hand to eat on another day. Having said that, with just two days of fasting I think my stomach's shrinking already, so that's good.

Pictured: curry chicken w/ rice & chicken thighs, and a small bag of mini-donuts my Mother brought home.

I am super stuffed after overeating tonight. Definitely going to limit myself to one plate of food tomorrow. I did successfully fast all day today though, so I'm taking that as a positive.

I also weighed myself this morning: 355.8 lbs, so the terrible week I've had resulted in maybe a 1-2 pound shift. I'll be really happy when I get under 350. Soon!

You're making progress, and being very open about your weaknesses, which is always good.

Funny how you mention portion sizes Sean, my mind still can't adapt (or maybe accept) that I now eat smaller amounts, it still thinks I can eat a mountain of food! lol

Your doing awesome! Just starting was the hardest part! Congrats on your loss!!

    Thanks everybody.

I did an "official" weigh-in today since it's Friday. I'm at 354 lbs.
That's a 1.8 lb shift from just yesterday. Kind of funny.

I just took a look at my weight report on MFP to see my weight loss in the last 30 days:
    1/1: 370 lbs
    1/19: 357.4 lbs
    1/22: 354.6 lbs
    1/26: 357.4 lbs
    1/31: 355.2 lbs

Then I went up to 355.8 lbs for a few days and now I'm at 354 lbs. I'm glad I've been tracking my weight because it's very interesting to see the shifts in the chart.

I've lost 16 lbs overall now. Just gotta stay consistent and keep moving forward. Making this journal to keep myself honest is helping out a lot, as is everyone's encouragement, so thanks again everyone. :)

I live in South Texas where Mexican is top game and can be had any time anywhere. But no matter where it is from, Mexican food is a winner in my book!

Chicken stir fry tonight. No pic, cuz I'm feeling sooo lazy.

I'm gonna do a 48 hour fast tomorrow out of curiosity. I don't really plan on making it a regular thing though. I am making a point this day forward to stick to only one plate of food. I don't think I've lost much weight this week because I am having very calorie-dense and large portions of food, so I've gotta fix that.

I usually still loose weight even with large calorie dense meals if eaten in short time window.

Well, fingers crossed my weigh-in this week is better than I'm thinking it's going to be.

I have madly failed my 48 hour fast today, haha. Just not quite ready for it mentally yet, I think. I don't know if I ever really plan on adding it to my schedule. Perhaps in the future.

Anyway, I had some chicken sandwiches from Burger King and fries and a bunch of pineapple today.

I'm really itching to start working out once I get the OK from my surgeon. I've got some annoying minor back pain I wanna fix by strengthening my body.

Why do you want to do 48 hrs? I can see some detox benefits and using it as a way to get into ketosis but I think it could make it harder to stick to a daily fast.

Yeah, I think you're right. I've just read in the past that 48 hour fasts are quite good for fat loss, but I don't think I'll really try it again.

Sustainability is the key imo. I would rather eat a little more during my one meal if it means I won't fall off the wagon the next day. I would rather even just skip breakfast than to not do any fasting at all. I think you have to find a point where you will have a deficit but it is sustainable.

261.6 lbs today. Ouch! I've clearly been eating way too much this week. I'm hoping quite a bit of that is just water weight... fingers crossed.

I honestly can't wait until I can start working out. I have a tough time sticking to healthy eating plans without exercise. I like to exercise in the morning to get a good start to the day. I also need to start a good strength training routine to fix up my general aches and pains, haha.

Well, I'm gonna put this week behind me and focus on doing a better job next week.

Hopefully everyone else had more success than I did.
