I found coffee!!

I'm super excited. My husband got this coffee at Sam's that is the actual coffee bean and you grind it right there in the store. I've always been one to put tons of flavored creamer in my coffee. Whoever said to me in this group that find a good quality coffee is absolutely right. This coffee is amazing. With just one or two packets of Splenda it's amazing!! WOOHOO!!
Also can I get a McDonald's unsweetened ice tea and put Splenda in it?

Might have been me. I made this discovery very recently upon quitting artificial sweetener cold turkey. I realized I needed it because my coffee was gross! lol
I just tried the Sumatra coffee from Starbucks. They will grind it for you too. I really need to get my own because it's apparently even better when you grind it fresh right before brewing.
I'm working on my full coffee snob credentials.0 -
This coffee smells delicious. It fills up your whole house with the smell. Yum. It's called Verena Street and it's even a dark roast!0
-
Dark coffee is my favorite too!
The brand is Verena Street? I'll have to look for it. I am sampling all kinds of different ones now.0 -
I used to need super sweet coffee but since adding fat I can drink it without! Good end are a must as well. I also aim for free trade coffee since they treat their workers better. Bullet proof coffee is my best friend0

Do you have a Sam's Club near you? That is where we got it from!0

I don't know if I could handle putting butter in my coffee....0
-
Butter is just cream. Try it. Everyone says that at first.0
-
I know it I should try it...0

My husband is a coffee snob, but thanks to him, I actually enjoy drinking it now ... especially with lots of heavy cream. We always buy whole bean and grind it ourselves. We actually just bought some coffee beans online and are going to try roasting them at home. Yum!0

Yes to the unsweetened tea! Congratulations on the coffee find!
I have to find me some good coffee! The Folgers is getting old!0 -
Oh my word you should totally get a cheap little spice grinder. Grinding your own beans in the morning takes just a minute, your house smells heavenly and the coffee is delicious. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest. Coffee is liquid gold to me0

That's honestly the only thing I like about coffee...the smell of fresh ground beans. Maybe I just need to get a hoity-toity coffee, BP it, and drink in small amounts - boycotting creamer! I remember my last coffee adventure in an attempt to start a love affair - and OMG, disastrous!!!!
Edited to add: my guy would love it if I loved coffee, because then I'd make it more often. He's terrified to make it since he accidentally broke the last pot to our small coffeemaker. LOL And he'd NEVER use a French Press or something manual....no patience for instructions.0 -
I never would have thought grinding my own coffee at home made that much of a difference. After all these posts now I'm temped to check it out!0

I'm not big coffee drinker at this point in my life, but if I ever do become one I am so going to try some of the coffee flavors this place carries because they just sound so darn good:

This may be a dumb question, but since coffee isn't required to have nutrition info...are there carbs/sugar in the flavored beans? Same question on the various flavored teas (I have seen a chocolate and a couple fruit flavors I have been tempted to try but have not since they lack the info.0

Try Brooklyn roasting company, you can order whole bean grind yourself then brew in a French press. It's beyond delicious and so smooth.

Thanks! I'll check it out. I love trying new coffees!0 -
For serious coffee snob credentials you should treat yourself to some Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee (not the blend but the 100% certified JBM coffee). It has excellent flavor (hint of nuttiness) and rich aroma with no bitter aftertaste. I usually buy several pounds of it in bean form when I'm in Jamaica and bring it back with me to grind as needed. Prepare for sticker shock buying it in the U.S. (I'm told it costs around $70 a pound). Gives me a reason to go to Jamaica at least once a year, lol.0

My wife thought the same way. Butter! That's going to be oily and gross! Now she makes her own bulletproof coffee (with butter and coconut oil) every morning using a small emulsifier to blend it all up.0 -
So I'm getting there I put HWC in mine this morning....I don't have a blender at home but can I still use butter and coconut oil? And how much for a 16 oz cup0

I would start with about 1 tsp of each and move up slowly as some people experience bathroom issues. If you don't have a blender I would consider buying one of those $10 handheld milk frothers. You could just stir it into your coffee but the oils would float to the top and that seems to bother a lot of people.0 -

Butter has butyric acid which is another short chain fatty acid and very Ketogenic. It also has less of the dairy proteins that can be troublesome to some people.
You'd be surprised how rich and smooth the flavor is. I actually like a salted butter myself, but most others use unsalted I think.
Butter stirs in okay, it kinda floats on top a bit, but not all of it. It's better to blend it or use the frother though and you really need to do it for sure if you're using coconut or MCT oil.
Also, for the purpose of fasting (Bulletproof style), butter and coconut oil do not break your body from fasting. But cream does.0 -
I didn't "get" coffee until I went to France. There, the coffee tastes like it smells... wonderful. Now that Jamaican coffee sounds interesting. Couldn't afford it, even if I found it! For now, Circle K's decaf is keeping me company. Certainly not fancy, but it works.0

I would do it with salted butter also. I haven't done the bulletproof coffee yet, (it honestly sounds atrocious to me, and I don't really feel like I need the added calories because I'm in weight-loss mode) but I have my coffee in the morning with cream and then try not to eat until about noon. I might try the butter tomorrow. I might. Do you only use like Kerrigold butter though? Grass fed etc.? I haven't bought any of that just because the way my family goes through butter it would send me to the poorhouse. Lol. I buy my butter at Costco. Would I be defeating myself if I didn't use "the good butter? Just curious.

Salt in your coffee is supposed to help douse the bitter edge. Many recipes actually include adding salt to the grounds to cut the edge while brewing... @Sunny_Bunny_0
-
If it's bitter cinnamon can help when brewing but mostly you need a smoother blend or cold brew or French press brewing method.0

You can use Costco butter. It doesn't have to be grass fed. The very slight difference between grass fed and not has nothing to do with the whole butter coffee thing.
If you nix the cream and use butter instead, you're getting the same calories but keeping your body in a fasted state. Which could help with fat loss... It's not about calories. It's about the food.
And adding coconut oil provides lots of benefits including boosting ketones, physical and mental energy, and provides satiety like you've eaten, while actually remaining in a fasted state.
If you blend the coffee it looks like this. And it tastes very creamy and you'd have absolutely no idea there's any oil in it at all.
I've had 24oz. of coffee, 1Tbs MCT, 1/2Tbs coconut oil and 1Tbs butter today so far. I last ate at 6:30 last night. I've been up since 6am and it's now 1pm. I haven't felt the slightest hunger as of yet and plan to get some exercise in before eating in a couple more hours.
That's the reason I do Keto style coffee. Plus, I really love it!0 -
I brought coconut oil with me today....I couldn't do it..haha0

Oh and here's another win. I got a McDonalds unsweet tea and usually I pucker at the taste of unsweet tea. It actually tastes good and not too bitter!0
