Lisa, that is pretty close to your target! Women gain at different rates through their pregnancies, so it may level out again later.

My weight was very stable until the last couple of weeks, when I started putting on nearly 2 pounds a week! I hope that trend won't last!! Hopefully some of it is water. One can but hope, right? Still only up 1.5 pound in total, so it is much better than in my previous pregnancies, but it is hard to see the numbers go up so fast.

Week - weekly change - total change

I'm liking how tracking at maintenance feels too. I actually dropped DOWN 4 lbs this past week just doing that, so I'm now 10 weeks and up just 2 lbs, which is right on track with my goals. Wahoo! I think I'll go up a few hundred calories and try to gain a pound per week once I'm in second trimester.

It's nice to see people here who have done so well with pregnancy weight gain. Bravo.

Start: 166 lbs (8 weeks pregnant)
Current: 164.8 lbs (20 weeks pregnant)

I have yet to gain any weight from my first OB appointment, so I'm thankful for that! I think my weight is just redistributing to my belly area lol I'm really hoping to keep the gain at a minimum this pregnancy since I started out overweight.

    Welcome Sarah & Cassie!

Emma - I think it's great you made it this far and you're just starting to gain!

I'll admit, even though I started at a normal BMI, I'm pretty jealous of you ladies who have made it to 20 weeks without gaining any weight! My doctor told me they have changed the guidelines in Canada and even women who start at a healthy weight are only supposed to gain 20-30 lbs.

Lisa, I swear the guidelines change weekly here (Australia)! Or maybe it's just who you speak to? I see a different midwife at every appointment, and if I listened to all of their advice, my head would probably explode from the contradictions!

Currently 32+3 weeks, and am sitting 0.5kg above my pre-pregnancy weight (started at an overweight BMI).

20 weeks and 3 days and I'm 15lbs up. Slacking in the excerise department. I feel my thighs growing by the day. Only part of gaining weight that really bothers me the most during pregnancy. I love being pregnant otherwise.

ME, TOO! I'm almost 20 weeks and up about 15lbs...I am eating all the food and not working out...instead of feeling bad for myself, I need to get off my butt and watch those calories!!

Well done Ruby on only gaining 0.5kg by 32 weeks, that's really good going!

I wish the guidelines were what they are now when I had my first babies - I might not have been so overweight then (never lost my last round of pregnancy weigh :( ).

Doing exercise every day has really helped me. These past two weeks i haven't been doing it regularly as I have been too tired/stressed and have so much work to do, and it is showing on the scales. I need to get back into that again.

If I gain half a pound a week from now until my due date, my total gain will be 6.3 pounds (about 3 kg gain, which should equate to an overall fat loss of about 5kg). However, if I gain 2 pounds (800 grams) every week, then my total gain will be 23 pounds (10.3kg), so there is still all to play for!

I am going to focus on getting protein and slow release carbs with every meal and eating every 2-3 hours. I also need to wean myself of the chocolate which has been so tempting lately!

I've noticed a couple big jumps the past few weeks! My "official" weigh in is Saturday but I think I'm up 12 pounds at 19 weeks. However it is all in my belly! It is huge!

I'm 23 weeks pregnant with my second baby and I've gained 13lbs so far. I was extremely hungry and tired in my first trimester and couldn't control my cravings. But now I'm back to my workouts and watch what I eat. Hopefully I won't gain too much.x

I've been sooooo hungry for the past 3-4 days it's crazy! I'll be 20 weeks thursday. Am I the only one who's been starving? I'm constantly eating :( Hopefully it's just a phase.

I'm back to work tomorrow after my mat leave so I will probably eat a little less, since I tend to eat less when I'm at work, doing paperwork, meeting clients, etc.

I've been starving for a while now! I find it is mostly during the day time, I'm also 19 weeks. I have to have like 3 snacks during the day, pre-pregnancy I wasn't a snacker at all.

Eliz, I am the same! Working from home these days and there are so many temptations!

Half a pound up for me this week - not too bad considering how hungry I have been!

Week - weekly gain - total change:
    12 w: 0.0 Total: -5.6
    13 w: 0.2 Total: -5.4
    14 w: 0.0 Total: -5.4
    15 w: 0.2 Total: -5.2
    16 w: 0.2 Total: -4.9
    17 w: 0.2 Total: -4.7
    18 w: 0.2 Total: -4.5
    19 w: 0.0 Total: -4.5
    20 w: 0.0 Total: -4.5
    21 w: 0.7 Total: -3.8
    22 w: 1.1 Total: -2.7
    23 w: 1.1 Total: -1.6
    24 w: -2.0 Total: -3.6
    25 w: 1.3 Total: -2.3
    26 w: 0.2 Total: -2.1
    27 w: 1.8 Total: -0.3
    28 w: 1.8 Total: 1.5
    29 w: 0.4 Total: 1.9

Up 2 pounds in total - it was 28 pounds at this point in a previous pregnancy so it is definitely working. I find my bike sessions to be key, as I get hungry and feel I have to eat then, but working off about 350 calories a day on the bike, plus other little bits of exercise, helps keep me on track. The weeks I gained was when I was not as consistent with my exercise (too much work...).

Still sitting a little under my beginning weight at my first OB appointment. I've been eating ok. Weekends are much harder when my sweet loving husband is home lol I go to the doctor on Wednesday for an ultrasound. Can't wait to see my babe :)

    8 weeks: 130
    12 weeks: 132
    16 weeks: 138
    20 weeks: 147
    25 weeks: 150

    32 weeks: 156
    34 weeks: 158
    36 weeks: 158

    So far: 28 lbs

Hope I can stay close to 30 lbs! I should at least be good to be under 35. I didn't think it would slow down this much since I gained 20 lbs by 25 weeks, but I'm glad. Almost there! Saturday is full term, he's welcome to come anytime now! That would also curb the weight gain. But I'll probably be much closer to 40 weeks.
