Stess and Hunger = fast food

Today was rough... Slept in, ran out of the house without eating, was on my way to drop my son off after his dentist appt and grab some lunch at around 1:30 pm, got rear ended... My first ever accident and the guy had road rage and hit me a second time, was laying on the horn nonstop... Finally wrapped that up with the police, late to my next appt... Finally finished, rushing to catch the ferry, went through Wendy's drive through, ordered the spicy chicken Caesar salad and a Diet Coke, no idea what the stats were but too hungry and upset to care... Barely made it on the ferry, almost missed it... Got home, had someone waiting to pick up our kayaks and move them to the marina... It's almost 7 pm and I'm finally able to sit down and chill.

Logged my meal... Full size Wendy's fast food spicy chicken Caesar salad was only 27 net carbs (used both packs of dressing, skipped the croutons). The chicken is even breaded... Was the most delicious thing I've eaten in years because I was so "hangry"! I give myself 50 net carbs so I'm thrilled I stayed on plan...

I think I did okay given the circumstances. What's your go to fast food low carb meal?

Protein style burger (no bun), extra lettuce from Carl's Jr. Sometimes turkey burger, sometimes beef depending on how much protein I want, usually with cheese. Sounds like you had a hell of a day! Congrats for be able to stay on plan!

I make a delicious beef soup, like 1 1/2 to 3 gallons. I then put them in pint mason jars. I grab one for lunch or dinner (I take them to work). 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 minutes in microwave.

I also make pots of bone broth and do the same thing as above. And precooked bacon eating it cold ~ is good too.

    I hope this helps,

In a perfect world I would have grabbed the hard boiled and pre cooked bacon from my fridge, some cheese and nuts, but I was late and didn't want to miss the ferry. Sometimes life just doesn't work out the way you expect! Plus I was literally nowhere today where I could have reheated something, so even your soup would have been cold... Unless police have them in their cars now? HAHA!!

Awe I'm so sorry you had a stressful day, those things derail me like crazy. You did so well, good job! I went to Wendy's today for lunch, got two Jr bacon cheeseburgers with no bun, so good. Wendy's it's super accommodating and they don't even make you feel weird about it.

It's one of the few places my kid with tons of allergies can eat too.

I like chipotle for keto friendly fast food. I only go there once in a couple months because it can get pricey but my go to order is a barbacoa salad, add in sour cream, cheese, and guacamole - skip the dressing and it comes to a big bowl for about 8g net carbs. And you can usually make two meals out of it!

Wendy's will do any burger on the menu "low carb style". They put it all in a tray, without the bun, and give you a fork and knife! Yum! Hardees, and Carl's Jr. (Depending on where you live for availability of these fast food options) do a lettuce wrapped low carb version of their burgers too! I prefer their thickburgers this way, vs. their "natural style".

So sorry for your stressful day! Hope you aren't hurt from the accident! You did wonderfully, in a terrible situation! I have no doubt that your goals will be your future!!

You did great! I hope today is a better day!

Most fast food places have pretty detailed nutritional info online, and most low-carb versions (no bun, etc) are in the MFP database. I have some items in mind at chains in my area. It's a double-edged sword for me, though-- I know what I can go to when time is tight and I'm not otherwise prepared, but it also drives cravings for me (driving by and thinking, "Oh, I can have their double cheeseburger and just not eat the bun, maybe I'll stop in"). Fast food is a big trigger for me.

If I go through drive through I always get something without breading and no bun. I avoid Burger King and McDonald's though. I have gotten to the point now where I can buy fries for the girls and not eat even one. Before I always had to have a taste - which usually meant eating half of them. No longer. I like 5 Guys Burgers, Wendy's, Whataburger and any place the burgers are made fresh. Any place will leave the bun off for you, just ask. And any place that has both breaded and not breaded chicken will substitute for you too.

    Heavy whipping cream.

Heavy whipping cream?? Like you drink it straight up?

I'm in Canada, and a rural area at that... there are NO fast food restaurants where I live, but just across the water in the closest city there's basically just Wendy's, McDonalds, A&W, Burger King, Subway, Starbucks, Serious Coffee, Tim Hortons, KFC, Dairy Queen, Taco Bell... That's about it I think, if you don't count the mall... I don't like Starbucks coffee at all so never go there. Someone gave me a gift card for a birthday or Christmas or something ages ago and I think I've used it twice and didn't enjoy it both times. LOL I almost never eat fast food (helps if there aren't any where you live!! haha!) and I don't have TV so don't see food commercials for them, so I'm way out of the loop. Sometimes I get a decaf timmies coffee with double cream... I have a wheat and soy allergy so that limits me a lot too, even before doing LC.

I miss Starbuck's....I HATE their coffee, it's too bitter for me... but LOVE the Berry Hibiscus Refreshers...which are filled with sugar. Sigh....

I was on the road to and from a family party in the next state over with 3 relatives last weekend, and they wanted burger king (despite being the driver, I always also the youngest, so I acquiesced) I got a bacon double cheeseburger plain and ate between the bun. It was actually pretty tasty and it staved my hunger for the rest of the ride home.

Pork rinds and stupid amounts of cheese. I bet I stink. Here in Yorkshire (the UK) we have one of the best creameries in the world. The wife and I took a tour last week and came home with so much cheese we've still got half left: Wensleydale; Kit Calvert, oak smoked, mature oak smoked, special smoked, chilli, sheep milk, cranberry, apricot, caramelised onions, blue, red blue, abbots. I like cheese.

Oh my goodness!! This would be my second favorite place to live after my Uncle's hometown of Novellara close to Grana Padano Parmesan and San Daniele prosciutto country, lol. You are making me drool on my keyboard!

In Canada A&W will do lettuce wrap burgers too and their beef suppliers use no hormones or antibiotics. They are pretty tasty especially the Angus Burgers with cheese & bacon.

I don't know if there is such an animal.

But, when I'm out, I try to make sure I have some Joseph's Flax Lavash Bread with me. I cut a piece into quarters and that fits in my computer bag or sling pack as need be. Then if I want/need fast food, I ask for it without the bun and wrap the sandwich in the lavash bread. That's been working pretty well for me and keeps most things low carb.

What a horrible day. :( I think you did amazingly well with all things considered. Yikes.

I don't go for fast food at all. I'm a celiac so very little fast food is safe for me to eat. Diet pop maybe? Almost everything is at risk of cross contamination and not worth the risk of feeling poorly for a couple of weeks.

My go-to foods are bags of nuts, BPC, pepperoni sticks and cheese. Nuts are usually the fastest to grab but I like BPC the most.

I'm glad you are ok. Road rage is so scary! Great job keeping on plan.

I eat fast food a couple of times per week. My usual picks are:

Wendy's: double stack + jr. bacon w/ no bun, no onion, and no ketchup.
McDonald's: Double cheeseburger w/ no bun, no onion, and no ketchup.
Five Guys: Bacon cheeseburger, 2 patties, w/ mushrooms, pickles, and mayo.
Qdoba: Naked burrito w/ grilled chicken, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa on the side.
Arby's: Medium roast beef w/ no bun, cheese sauce on the side.
Dickey's BBQ: Brisket w/ creamed spinach.
Hardee's: Low carb thickburger w/ cheese
Captain D's: Grilled salmon with steamed broccoli (no rice or breadstick)
Chick-fil-a: Grilled cobb salad w/ avocado ranch, no fried red peppers or croutons (a little higher carb than my usual but worth it).

I'm big into iced coffee. I will sometimes skip a meal and just have iced coffee with cream. Usually at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts.

My fast food is sub way ham and cheese with all the veggies with mayo salt and pepper. I eat half of a half of a 6 inch and throw the rest of the bread away or wrap it for my man. and I eat all the meat, cheese and veggies like a sandwich. It's to die for!!!

You can get any 'sandwich' made into a chopped salad instead and customize whatever amount of veggies you want in it including black olives and extra bacon for more fat and just have them top it with mayo and Frank's Hot Sauce for a dressing.... That's another option I use when I feel like a large volume of food. Subway's good for that :)

I've been to subway twice in my life and won't go back unless under duress. I love a Burger King, and a KFC. If you do it right it can be low carb if you don't eat anything the day before. My wife loves KFC.

Google Wensleydale, North Yorkshire. Breathtaking scenery!!
    And cheese.

Yeah but they charge you 1.80 more for it. Someone mentioned you can order a sub in a bowl and they won't charge more. Id rather do that and order double meat than get tons of lettuce for 1.80

I go to Chipotle and order 2 sides of meat and 1 side of guac. It's about $6 and filling.

My idea of fast food is making things at home like an unwich: Italian cold cuts like salami and capicola or smoked ham wrapped in a big romaine leaf with mozzarella or provolone, thinly sliced onion, some Italian dressing, cherry peppers, thin sliced tomato. Or else, FlatOut pizza, or taco salad. I seem to always have either seasoned ground beef/turkey and all the fixings for a salad plus black olives, cilantro, sour cream and homemade salsa around. I really don't eat out much, especially not fast food.
