baconslave wrote: »Welcome to the August LC Basics Bootcamp!
At the request of the Challenge members, and since no one else has mentioned anything else , here we go again!
One key thing that I have learned in my journey is this:
Consistency + Persistence + Time = Success
Consistently nailing the basics is so important. And consistency creates good habits, routines, and gives you momentum that will carry you through hard times or disruptions to your normal schedule. Forget motivation. Motivation is a fickle thing. Discipline carries you through when motivation fails you.
So what are the basics?
Well, hitting your carb goal, obviously, right? There are other very important other basics. Staying hydrated, keeping electrolytes up, logging consistently (if you're a logger), exercise (if that's one of your goals), hitting your macros, staying away from trigger foods and other things you know set you back...
You can report your progress to your goal, whether it be ultra-obsessive daily hitting your low-carb plan basics, or working on a fitness goal, or even nailing down other good habits in your life. And if you have problems or need advice, you'll find that here.
Each week there will be a thread to collect your progress that week and to interact with other challengers.
I'll keep links to the weekly threads at the bottom of the stickied post should the thread get buried. 2 clicks, to this post and the Weekly link, will get you back to it.
So go ahead and post your goals in this Thread.
My daily post would look something like this.

Think I got my motivation factor realigned.
My Ex just had to mention how my regain is noticable! Of course, it is a little, but the intention was to belittle me; and well now I'm pissed. But motivated! (There is a reason he's an ex.)
If it works, I'll use it. Tired of floundering around with all my rationalizations anyway.
Time to get this show on the road again.
That's my back to basics for the rest of August. Don't care how or why...just get the job done.8 -

HUGE seafood dinner last night that put me way over calories but not too bad on carbs. So worth it! The scale showed it today though.1 -
Who's a slacker?? Oh! That would be me!!
I've been neglecting my food log. Cause I just suck, no excuses! My goal list is getting longer and I've been slacking off a bit cause I'm just tired these last few day. Now I'm thinking my electrolytes are screwy so I've added in my GGMS drink and salts to the mix! Crossing my fingers to see if it works. I haven't had any other symptoms but I also have my Daith pierced to prevent headaches. So I possibly am covering that symptom unknowingly?
Anyway I need accountability!! So I'm giving someone here permission to smack me around if I'm not posting in this thread!!!

Bit the bullet and hopped on the scale to face up to the damage. 4.4 pounds over my first goal weight and that means 16.4 pounds til I get down to my reassigned permanent weight.
Could be worse. So I'm on it.
Tonight is dance night...rrrrreally looking forward to being with friends who love me at any weight! Gotta luv the Deadheads for that!!!! And I do. What a priceless gift to be able to have friends now and to be able to go out and have fun. One of the best and unexpected perks of losing weight for me. As a big girl I felt too ashamed to go out at all.
Have a great weekend pals!

Strategy #one gazillion....
Since the binge food has me all tied up, I figured if I add one binge event per week I would need to burn an extra 175 cals per day.. or a daily walk around the pond. Might have to go that route until I get over this particular insecurity. Really frustrated, and trying to work with my sorry self on this issue is getting to me. Not willing to backtrack on the socializing so...just planning on throwing myself up against the wall til I break through it.
Other than this one weekly glitch, which is elusively psychological, I am truly digging the keto life.
Hanging on to that thought for dear life.0 -

Feeling very emotional this week. Just had a good cry and I'm thinking I should jump on the scale to check for more water weightloss! Lol. (Silver linings strategy)
Kept to my plan for yesterday, and I'm not anticipating stress eating today. Just keeping low key for this week.
Have a couple possible outings this week which could involve some walks that are in addition to my present activity level as well as an opportunity for low stress social thingees.
This weekend I did take an extra social risk that went well and may open some new doors in the future.
It really is a challenge to rebuild a life after being shielded by fat for so long. I believe it is worth it in spite of the challenges, but that is not saying that it is easy. Sometimes I am racked with fear stepping out on my own and sometimes I am so let down because I misread signals or don't know what to do to let someone know I'm available. I can be surrounded by others and feel 100% shut down. I am trying to be consistant in building up a new life because I know that the only way past your fears is to go through them. So, I'm trying to act fearlessly, but it's taking a big emotional toll.
Kind of feel like crawling back into bed, under the covers for today, and I just might. That would be like a fat shield - without the fat!
