In regards to meter accuracy-- this test will make most of you slightly ill, and from what I've seen from my own 3 meters, its pretty much true across the board... but +/-10 seems fairly common across all meters... and really that's not nearly accurate enough. I think lack of accurate testing is harming most diabetics an awful lot.

    https://zippy.gfycat.com/ImmenseDamagedChupacabra.webm

I've done same drop of blood on 3 meters, got 3 different results, pull strips, replace, same drop of blood on all 3 again, not one matched previous results... the one i use now is an accu-check aviva, and it consistently comes up with smaller variability than the other two, but rarely even on same drop of blood same number twice... often +/-5-10 (old two were up to +/-30, which is functionally worthless imo.)

Good God, that's a vivid and pathetic illustration. :s

I've had far better results - more consistent and closer to what professional labs return - with my 3 Bayer Contour Next EZ meters than any of the others I've tried.
(That includes the plain old, crappy Bayer Contour, which might as well be a random number generator.)

Hi, my name is Lynn. I am a carb-aholic. My fbs for the last month has been incredibly high... around 189. I need to be here, get back into a better diet and loose the weight I have gained in the last 7 months. I am only on metformin 2000mg per day but am wondering if I need more meds at this time. You can throw me a letter with advice if you feel so inclined. Thx.

@phxteach simple control of diet and some added exercise and weight loss should help. lowering the daily carbohydrate consumption will help a great deal. a keto diet is one way but you could also just start lowering your carb intake over a month or two so that the adjustment is easier

    It sure helps novo nordisk.
My insurance pays 50% of the contract price
    with Wal-mart, I pay the other 50%.

In the past it has worked well. Usually I can
cut back on my insulin using it.

111 this morning, I had my keto dirty refeed, diet, and diabetes cheat day yesterday... "*kitten* got real." ^_^ 5k of cals, 500g of carbs, etc. I'm feeling ok about my numbers after that kinda abuse. It seems like, losing 50 lbs has helped a *LOT* on how my numbers respond... nother 80 to go.

6.8 (123) this morning. A few hours later, after my coffee, 3.7(67). Very, very shakey. So, I had breakfast. More protein than carbs and it only went up to 3.8(68). So I had a Greek yogurt. But, on the good stuff de, I'm not feeling sick or in pain anymore.

77 this morning. Just had an appt with my endochronologist. 5.5 A1C. In December it was 13.something. Yay progress.

That's awesome, how did you do that?

I've been working out about 3-4x a week. I've radically changed my diet and no more mike and Ike's

Any hints what your new diet's like? ;)

I'm starting to gravitate towards a Whole Foods, plant based diet. Not 100% there yet, but about 4/7 days a week are plant based. I've been doing this for about 5 months now.

220......I've been away for a while obviously seeing that number. Thought I had it all under control and then stopped testing because I "knew" what I was doing. Nothing like a hospital visit with your sugar over 400 to fix that!
