    Oh I know it was the biscuit and honey. I know I need to watch carbs better especially at night. The coke slaw I probably had about 1/4 c. I didn't think about added sugar in it though.

    141 tonight. Thanks guys. I didn't think about sugar in the coleslaw, I only had about 1/4 c. I know my hard thing is breads and pastas, and I need to cut that more than I have. I've been having really good numbers during the day then I mess it up at dinner...

    If you're dealing with carb addiction, and I'm guessing it might be part of the scenario, it can be difficult and take years to break it.

    In my case, the only method that has worked in 15+ years of T2D was to face the sad truth that "treat carbs" (starches and sugars) belong in the the same category as other household poisons: Something to eliminate, recycle, or feed your enemies, but never to eat.

    So I distrust everything that poses as "food" and make it convince me it's not really poison in sheep's clothing.

    In my reality,

    Honey = Drano, and
    Honey + Biscuits = Drano + D-Con :scream:

    It's all in the perception!

    I just can't eat bread - like Ralf I just think of it as poison, because to me it is. I can eat two slices of whole wheat bread totalling 22 g net on a good day, or 1/2 a tortilla, if I go and work out within the hour to lower my glucose, but something like a biscuit, no way. And honey, not even on the list of possible things.

    In a way I was lucky, because when I was diagnosed, the meds which lowered my glucose levels really messed up my vision temporarily. I couldn't see well enough to drive because my distance vision was blurry and couldn't read because my close vision was too blurry. It took about six weeks to resolve, and really scared me. So I am not tempted to play around with eating foods I should not eat, because for me the consequences are not some theoretical thing - I know I will go blind if I behave badly.

    That must have made things much more vivid (blurry) for you than just imagining each day of waiting to tighten your belt is just another day.....

    What tipped things for me was hearing my wife relate yet another sad story of a diabetic foot amputation and realizing that if I wanted Father Time to be on my side rather than the side of Demon Diabetes, I had best get cracking.
