@Samquentin Happy Surgerversary! You've really embraced your new lifestyle. I'm so happy for you!

How is the running going? I forget if you did the 5k? My story is startimg to get noticed. I'll be interviewed tomorrow for the third time. Marathon Training Academy Podcast. It's a pretty popular one!

Sadly, I've had to take a couple weeks off of running, had to get my dang gallbladder out :( But, Surgeon said I'm healed up to try running again, but if I have any pain to stop, since I'm 2.5 weeks out. SO, with his blessing, I'm going for a run today. :):)

I had signed up for two 5K's, both of them were the weekend after my surgery. :/ I've gotta find me another one and sign up again!

I totally forgot I was going to read your story!!! I had did a quick once over, but that's it! I"m so excited for you and how awesome you did in the marathon!! You are my running inspiration!

    And hi from New Zealand!
HW 260lbs, and had a lap band 2009. Dropped to 180lbs and maintained maybe 4-5 years.
Got cancer, band emptied for chemo, and it broke when refilling a year later.
Gained weight to 220lbs and had RNY December 2017.
Now 161lbs, 5lbs off goal (goal determined by ‘not overweight BMI’)

It has been a bit of a dream journey for me - plain sailing, steady weight loss, manageable stalls. Have recently begin hankering for the rubbish food again, but I am hunkering down and riding that out! I know I have to have ended those rubbish habits forever...

    My stats are:
    Preop diet - April 16th 2018 -128 kg
    Surgery weight - April 30th 2018- 119.4kg
    Current weight - July 22nd 2018- 91.9 kg
    Hight - 1.73 m
    Age: 33 (34 in 2 months)
Goal weight - 65 kg (27kg more to go)
Type of surgery : gastric bypass

Before the surgery I was a type 2 diabetic, had hepatic steatosis, the doctors suspected a polycitemie vera and my colesterol and triglycerides were through the roof. Now I have almost perfect blood tests (thank God and the surgeon for that) and except for the dizzinesa I'm doing perfect. Trying to workout too (never did this before), bought a crosstrainer and working out 30 minutes a day (i started 2 days ago) - before it was just walking a few km a day.

Hoping to find like-minded people getting ready to go through this process, as well as people who have already taken the plunge! Can use all the support I can get :)

    Hi, I'm Kate.

I just wrote a detailed post & it disappeared. So, I'm trying again, but in mini-version:
    Gastric bypass - March 2014
    Highest pre-op weight: 279.4
    Day of op weight: 246.4
    Lowest post-op: 164.5
Original target: 154 (so didn't make it, but surgeon was OK with my loss)
    Dream weight: 125 (ideal bmi)
    Current weight: 187

So, still got a long way to go...frustrating, but my new motto is:
'Keep Calm, Keep Going and Enjoy the Journey'!
    Good luck to all. 🙂

I had my VSG on 2/19/18
I used to wear 3x-4x tops and 26 pants
I am currently wearing Xl - 2X tops depending on the style and size 20 pants
I joined the YMCA and am walking and exercising 2-3 days a week. I have also just recently started doing workout videos at home on the other days so I hope this will help with muscle tone, flexibility, and strength. I actually just brought my balance ball to work today to use as my desk chair and love it!
    I eat approximately 1000- 1100 calories a day.

UPDATE: Consistency pays off. I am still steadily losing. Currently at 225, 7 months out from VSG. I haven't been eating the BEST but am aware of my mistakes so I guess that is the first step in correcting them. i want to be 100# down by the end of November which is when I began my journey. Surgery was 2/19/18.

    Time for my update :)

    Highest weight: 2015 - 333.8 lbs
    Pre-op diet weight: June 5, 2018 - 288.8 lbs
    Surgery date: June 25,2018
    Current weight: 224.0 lbs

Honestly who cares what I lost cause it’s more important what I gained:

Energy, I walk for miles, run around with my dog, work out and then still have energy to clean the house, run up the stairs etc.

Confidence: I went to Vegas in October, got on a plane, fit in the seat, four hour flight, then still walked Vegas for hours every day!

Pants that fit: from a high size of 28 to a current size of 18!! And I finally own knee high boots!

    Weight post 2010 gastric band - 80kg
Weight climb after cancer op 2011, and refil broke band 2017 106kg
Gastric bypass (with Fobi pouch) end 2017 104kg
Post surgery weight 62kg - astounded even me as 80 was my goal!!

I am running 5k 3x a week, occasionally 10k. Gym strength training 4x a week. Cycling 3x a week in summer. And loving my life in a whole new way.
BUT I have learned I can still backslide into old habits, put weight on. I put on 2kg in the last 2 months (stressful time, so I excused bad habits) but have lost 1kg of it in the last fortnight.

I am half the woman I was, living twice the life I was...

    Hi!
I had VSG in Mexico 7.5 weeks ago so still new to the game. Would love to add a few surgery buddies.

    HW: 242lbs
    SW: 233lb
    CW: 196.6lbs

Obviously still losing but my goal is 130lbs. I’m 5’7” and currently in a size 12-14 pant and Large top (that’s down from an 18-20 pant and XXL top).

I wore a Size 11W shoe prior and I’m down to a 10M now. Really shocked that my feet lost weight!

Prior to surgery I had no energy, osteoarthritis in my knees and back, chronic plantar fasciitis and tendonitis so walking was super painful, sleep apnea, hormone imbalance and low TSH. I was self conscious and miserable.

I’m so happy I stopped putting off surgery! I have energy and I feel good even though I’m still early in my journey. I can walk without pain and do body weight exercises at home. My goal is to be able to run again and once I feel a bit more comfortable with the COVID situation I plan on hitting the gym!

    Highest Weight = 500+
    Gastric Bypass - April 2008??
    Lowest Weight = 278
    Current Weight = 300

Doctor warned me that I would never see 50 if I didn't do something about my weight. I turned 60 in January! I was on 12 different medicines before the surgery to include high doses of pain killers and sleep medicine. Now, my biggest problem is controlling my diabetes. My A1C before surgery was as high as 15. Now it is around 7.5 with a goal of 6. I've gained 15 pounds in the last three months so I decided to get back at it. I've started back on my low carb eating with a goal of 275 by my 35th wedding anniversary in October.

Friend me for some two way support.

I have been looking into the gastric bypass option. I am scared of making such a change but I am told that I won’t regret it.

I’m 5’5” tall; had gotten up to 252; currently at 245.

Any thoughts from those of you that have experienced this procedure?

    I’d really appreciate your feedback.

    Thanks!

    Highest weight: 296 lbs. 4/14/19
VSG - Weight day of surgery: 280 lbs. 5/16/19
    Current weight: 157 lbs. 12/12/20
    Goal weight: 136 lbs.

I’m in the best shape of my life thanks to my sleeve. I regret nothing. For the first time in my life I have control over what I eat and how much. It’s the best feeling in the world to not feel controlled by food.

I try to get 10k steps/4 miles walking per day, drink 64+ oz of fluids and eat ~1400 calories with a minimum 80g of protein. 40/30/30 macros.

My goal for the new year is going to be to incorporate more strength training because I have been terrible about that!

Hi name is Laura, I live in Orange County, CA
    I was sleeved on 2/10/2020

    I am 5'1
    Start weight 283 size 22-24 pants/3XL shirts

Current weight 193 Size 14 Pants (I have a big butt) / Large shirts.

I hot my rock bottom was when I got rushed to the ER with from my doctors office with my BP 238/164 with swollen purple feet and resting heart rate of 128. I got placed on my 3rd blood pressure medication. I had constant back pain, I slept 12 hours a day and was out of breath just walking to the bathroom.

I had big plans to join the gym after I was cleared but of course we were in a pandemic so I have not worked out much at all. My weight loss slowed in November. Enjoyed myself in December and began Keto in January and the scale is moving again. I'm hoping to get down to 150 at some point this year. I'm ok if it takes all year :)

I MIGHT consider Gastric Bypass if I cannot get under 175. Skin removal will be considered in the future as well.
