I am below 280 for the first time in 10 years. So thankful for keto and the inspiration I get from other's stories of success and bumps in the road. I'm not perfect at it yet, but 15 lbs in 25 days shows me I'm hanging in there. After seeing my Mom pass at 63 yrs young, from diabetes, heart disease, and cancer, I just woke up. I want to be vibrant and healthy again. NSV yesterday was a new meal to break the monotony, Queso poblano chicken sausage with a whole small avocado. So good and filling! Happy Friday! Hope everyone has a blessed day!10

Kudos @db19732018. I am quite certain there is someone watching from above hoping to see you vibrant and healthy again.1

As of today I’ve been on Keto for 101 Days. I’ve lost over 24lbs. It’s been the easiest weight loss ever!!9
-
my wife and me are more than one year on keto - both done some kind of sport in the past - and we *kitten* rule the 90 minutes of pure crossfit workout with the age of 44
while we have the feeling it should go on harder after half an hour, the carb loaded youngsters already start to hyperventilate
best decision we ever made in years and so much fun, once in8 -
My NSV for this week: tried on trousers that I bought last year and were a bit too tight to wear in public. I haven’t touched them since then. I tried them on today and they fit perfectly. The only problem that I have is they are still too long lol. I guess no amount of keto and discipline is going to make me taller
I guess I will be wearing those pants next week6 -

@shirli2018 Wear them while they still fit! Sounds like they might be too big soon.

Been stuck for a month at 157-158 range. Not sure what to do and feeling very frustrated I've measured and rechecked my calories/macros, and everything is in order. I've had maybe 2 higher carb (but still in ketosis) days since I stared in March, but no "cheat" days and I use IF whenever I can. Maybe my body is just happy where it's at? I don't know. Any suggestions?1 -

Ugh, I picked up a nasty cold this week and had to make an unexpected business trip on top of that which ended up being extended a night due to a weather-related flight cancellation. I'm happy to be home in my own bed, but I'm also happy that I didn't have any trouble sticking to my new WOE through multiple airport meals and work dinners. Things are moving in the right direction!2 -
What a difference making a plan, logging it on MFP, then sticking to the plan makes. This has been a pretty keto clean week for me despite obstacles like dinner out with friends, graduation parties and a class I took over the weekend. Here’s the rub though. I can’t maintain this lifestyle. It is too much like a restricted “DIET” -following too many rules. Eventually, I want to eat intuitively, what I know is right, without all the planning, logging and rigid attention to detail.
That day will have to wait until I reach some long-term goals. Today I weighed in at 159.0 giving me a loss of 3.6 pounds for the week. That puts me within 5 pounds of my 6-month goal of 50 pounds lost. I’m also creeping up on a Body Mass Index less than 25.0 by recording a 25.7 today. My Tanita scale says my metabolic age (MA) is 47 (real age 68) and my body fat% (BF) is below 20%. Both my MA and BF meet goals set back in January of this year.
So, back to a few more weeks of diligent planning, logging and adherence for me. I am so happy I found keto. Keto has given me control of my appetite. With that control I’ve been able to reasonably restrict my calories steadily for over 5 months now. I can see doing that for another few weeks to reach those long-term goals. I can also envision staying on keto in a more relaxed manner to maintain healthy stats for my lifetime. I keto and I eating fat.

Ugh, I've been swirling around 160-162 for the last few weeks. It's frustrating! I was hoping and expecting to weigh-in today in the 150's. I can recognize I haven't been a saint but I've been no worse than when I first started Keto and I seemed to lose no matter what I did. Today I am going to resume week 3 (IF and Keto for lunch & Dinner) of the Ruled Me Keto Guide for beginners and see where that gets me. And, I guess... No Alcohol. But Hey, I feel great and my measurements are still going down.3 -
GREAT WEEK !!! Made a few changes this week and did OMAD for a couple days, drank more water and increased my exercise. Still walking and threw in Jillian Michael's Beginner 30 day shred. I CANNOT believe I will see the 20s soon. Here's to hoping my body let's me be great again this week!
Hope everyone is having a happy Sunday!

Due to a super busy schedule, I ate out almost every single day this week. Dinner meetings, conference lunches etc... I didn't track and I think I basically just took a week off. I of course stayed keto and stuck to keto friendly foods, but I didn't log calories. I'm happy I didn't gain!
I resolve to track, intermittent fast, and get my steps this week. I can't just slack off now because I hit a milestone! Onwards and downwards...

Lo carb is working - the scale is declining daily. Had a minor slip yesterday but not enough to trigger overwhelming cravings. Last night my brain won the resulting skirmish when it made my hand-and-mouth ignore the grumbling tastebuds.
Then today I woke up feeling back in the almost effortless "new-normal feeling" of not needing to eat if I don't have to.

@d_c_lady I know exactly how you feel! My scale didn't move for a month (except up a few pounds when I had a conference to attend). Friday I totally broke though to the 50s before I went out of town for the weekend and now I'm sure I gained a couple. Just stick with it! Increase your calorie deficit for a few days and see where that puts you. That's what it took for me. After this weekend I will have to be patient with myself for a few days until I get back control, but just seeing that 159 on the scale however briefly is a huge boost to my motivation. I know it's easy to be discouraged. I've been there more often than not in this journey. But perseverance is key.1 -
Just this, there are some folks who seem to have gone MIA. I know there are ebbs & flows in the Keto journey and life happens and people get very busy, but if you use to be more active on this 'monthly challenge' thread and you know that you have been increasingly absent as of late, you should know that you have been very important to me and many others on here. You are missed! If you think I'm not talking about you because there is no way that you could have been THAT inspirational to anyone - you are wrong! So, if it's a matter of having drifted off course or more of an overboard situation, there is no feeling shame here. I'm here for The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly! Bring it all!!

I was finally ready to face the music... I got on the scale this morning (as promised) and the battery is low so I couldn’t get a #.
I know it doesn’t sound believable but here’s proof...

Hola Keto peeps!! I think I finally have a slow week where I can just take a breath and plan my days and meals better. Last night I met up with a group of moms in town that run the High School track, bleachers, and a whole mess of other boot camp (torture) style drills. It was AWESOME!! I'm sore and I feel GREAT! My 13yo daughter went with us, and she ran and participated as well.
Last week I noticed I was doing a lot of mindless eating. I've always been guilty of eating way too many snacks when I'm busy. It starts of with me having a coffee in the morning because coffee is life! Then I run out to do whatever errand I have planned, get home in the afternoon and I'm starving, but there's no time because I have to do more things, so I grab some cheese or a tuna pouch and eat while standing over the kitchen sink, straight from the package or out of my hand. Of course my brain isn't registering this as a meal so half hour later I'm looking for food again. So bad for me, the mindless eating. I'm making it my business to sit down and eat proper meals this week. I think I do so much better when I look at my plate and make sure not only that the food is the right food, but also enough food.
NSV TIME! On Friday I was volunteering at a Habitat for Humanity Blitz build site. At arrival they were giving each volunteer a t-shirt. When asked what size I wanted I answered, "whatever you have is fine". The guy says, "We have everything!" I was about to ask for a large, and he said, "HERE! Take a Medium!" OMG PEOPLE!!!!! I used to wear a 2X a year ago, and those shirts were tight and there were jelly rolls everywhere. WOWWWWWWW!!!!!
Anyway, I've added about 2lbs of muscle the past few weeks so I'm not sweating the scale moving up. I'm building some muscle here.

First day for Keto for both myself and husband. It's difficult finding stuff to make for him for lunch, that is sure. He has lettuce wraps today... I am all new to Keto and am doing tons of reading. I still don't understand how to figure out the correct amount of carbs in food. Counting calories just didn't seem to work for me
Starting weight...and this is the heaviest I have been in 5 years! I feel awful and look terrible!
I use to walk daily, but due to stenosis and other problems with my back (2 surgeries with no relief), I can not stand or walk for very long. I do use the elliptical twice a week (1 miles is about all I can handle) and strength train, and when I don't do that I TRY to use the recumbent bike.
I am 54 years old, 5'5 / 5'4 1/2 and today's weight is 156!
SW: 156
GW: 140
Current goal is to lose 5 lbs and then 5 lbs. One step at a time!
Any help, encouragement, experience, would be GREATLY appreciated.1 -

Welcome to keto and this thread. I think you’ve stumbled upon a great source of encouragement, inspiration and information by joining this forum. This group has several experienced and enthusiastic keto fans who unselfishly share support and advice.
I don’t know if you are into you tube, but there are great keto sources there. I would recommend starting out with Eric Berg. He has numerous user-friendly keto videos on a variety of subjects involving getting started and staying on keto.
Keto can be a bit difficult and overwhelming to get started. However, in my opinion as a yo-yo dieter for over 40 years, it is an approach that has promise to help me both acheive and maintain health goals.

Thanks stormywxs288! I already messed up! I ate watermelon! Ugh...I love fruit, ice cream and beer! That is going to be my biggest problems. I am taking it one day at a time and as I always seemed to do in the past was if I messed up, I stopped tracking and caring. My hope is to track!

Ha ha! Thanks! The fact that my toenails don’t grow and its cool enough here that I’m still mostly wearing socks and shoes makes it still look fresh...0
