My question is this, is there any workout that I can do siting down or laying on the ground while burning 300 or so calories without further hurting my ankle? I already cut my calories intake to 1 thousand to just try to lose more weight because of what the doctor has told me.

    @Jkyzab
At my highest weight I was 365+ lbs.
I lost 175 lbs by riding a recumbent exercise bike while watching tv, and swimming 2-3x per week. Both are low impact and great for sore ankles or knees. Once I lost some of the weight, I was more able to start going for long walks and exercising in other ways and the impact of my weight on was more manageable. Good luck!

@Jkyzab I have to wonder if that intake is way too low for your current weight. Ideally you should be dropping your calories much slower so you adapt slower and don't shock your system.
Have you considered trying another approach to diet entirely, something like a Ketogenic diet...that's what helped me drop 50 lbs and I did that really pretty easily in about 6 months last year, just switching to keto and still eating quite a bit, and I didn't feel hungry and I was full of energy too.

Sorry, really been thinking a lot about this because your situation isn't unlike my hubby who has lost 70 lbs and he REFUSES to exercise, because he thinks he's too fat and don't want to go to the gym so "people can stare at him" and I just feed him a ketogenic diet and he eats well over 2500 calories a day at well, almost 400 lbs now (started at 470 lbs) so that really leads me to believe that you might just be too low on your intake.

Even at my heaviest almost 250 lbs, my doctor never said to go that low on my calories, even before I went keto...

I went to the doctor today and again he boldly told me to stop "being lazy on the couch and start working out". I even showed him this app that shows him how much I am eating, what workout I"m doing and such. He wasn't impressed at all. My weight went down 280. Again he told me off and not taken a look at my ankle. Im just going to stop focusing on my workout and deal with my stress and depression and seek another professional about my ankle pain and such. Then I will get back to working out, this time without borderline pushing my limits.

I used the treadmill at home, along with using workout videos such as Denise Austin boot camp, Michelle 30 day workout and some basic yoga (Dog face down, warrior pose (1 and 2), child pose)

Tomorrow I am heading away to do some work for the Dept of Education. I will be gone til Friday. So no pool for me!

I also got bad news today that the place that I go swimming is going to close. They are a non profit organization and money isn't flowing. It is so sad! So when I come back from working, I will be looking at a new pool.... probably the YMCA.

Hmm, that doctor's attitude is a little concerning. I'm sorry you're going through this. Certainly weight can aggravate foot pain. My mom deals with this as well. But just telling your patient to "stop being lazy" and workout on a bad ankle regardless of pain doesn't seem like the right answer. Maybe he thought you were trying to make an excuse to not work out at all. I don't know but I would definitely try the exercises others outlined for low impact if you really want to work out. As @AB0215 said, focusing on diet is the most important part in losing weight so my personal advice (similar to Ashley) is to focus on losing weight through diet (and low impact exercises if you want) until your ankle gets a little better with weight loss. I'd definitely try another more empathetic doctor too. Good luck with this and take care of yourself!

@Jkyzab Definitely think it's time for a new doctor. They should be advocates for you, not send you into depression...
I believe your really headed in the right direction though. Hang in there, focus on nutrition, you will get there, take it one day at a time, one meal at a time. Take care of yourself, it's important.

    Track: Yes
    Calories: Yes
Exercise:Yes, 75 minutes of yard work, been neglecting it because it's hot, so worked outside for as long as I could stand it, then continued the party inside for some "spring" cleaning I never got around to. Got a party coming up at the end of the month and my house needs help.

Comments: It was a pretty good day. Traded the gym and my treadmill for some yard work and house work. Spent most of the day on my feet, doubled my step "goal"....Hopefully my headache goes away and the scale cooperates this week, despite "shark week", you know the dreaded week where you work so hard and your body gives you the middle finger when you step on the scale, despite all the hard work you put in...only time will tell...

Yesterday was my little sister birthday. Knew I couldn’t resist the cake cake and pizza so didn’t eat much of anything else all day. Was under my calories but over in carbs. The weight went back up. But hopefully I can bring it back down again soon.

    OMG!!!
Time for a new doctor. That's terrible!! ANY weight loss and signs of exercise should be encouraged!
Telling someone with a hurt ankle to "stop being lazy" is AWFUL.
    He should be reported.

Sorry you are going through this!! Take it easy, and stay positive, and take care of yourself! <3<3

@Jkyzab I would probably be looking for a new doctor. He/she should be giving you some suggestions for safe exercise options with your ankle, or at least refer you to physical therapy. I have to echo Ashley's concerns about the low calorie intake. You do need to carefully monitor your intake, and that is probably going to be the best avenue of weight loss for you right now. But, 1000 is really really low. What does MFP give you as a suggested intake for lightly active?
Pool workouts are going to be great for you right now! It's probably the best way to burn calories without putting additional strain on your ankle. Hopefully you are able to find another pool.
I'm not a video expert, but I would think most bodyweight style strength training videos would work, or at least could be modified. Most upper body exercises can at least be modified to sitting, kneeling, or laying. You may even be able to modify squats and lunges by using a broom or chair for support. Another option is to get a stability ball, and look at options for exercises or exercise videos using that.

I haven't tracked food today. Mentally calculating calories - it will probably be close. I didn't have the energy to get up at 5am to run this morning, so I'm going to try for that tomorrow. I've got a kickboxing class later this evening.

Been MIA due to work. My steps have sucked. I guess this is a preview of September when I go back. I am tired and crabby. At least my eating has been ok.

Weigh in week: July Week 2
    Weigh in day: Thursday
    Previous Weight: 157.2
    Current Weight: 159.1

Ok, so I am actually happy with this number. I gained a lot during my week of vacation/wedding/roadtripping.... And I had actually gone up into the 160s (grrr....)
So when I weighed in this morning at 159.1 I was OVERJOYED.

Back in the 150s and I'm staying there until I get to the 140s. There is no going back! I am done with the 160 weight decade!

No good reasons - the day just got away from me. I had planned to swim. But turns out the pool was closed for cleaning. Go figure! Knee was hurting after kickboxing last night, so I don’t want to take any chances.
