I wish I would've found this group a long time ago! I haven't had that much support so I've fallen off and gotten back on too many times to count now. I started out w/my LCHF/Keto plan again today and I am excited to account for my #'s on the spreadsheet. It just seems like a little bit more accountability until I can get back into the lifestyle permanently. Can't wait to see where I am come the holidays and on into the future!1

Hi - I started last month. Quick question - is there a way of editing the original post to this challenge? I put my weight in the spreadsheet, but couldn't find a way to go back in to my original post to add weights each week.
Hi, @wendaeh ! There isn’t a way to edit original posts so typically people either copy/paste from past posts and then repost with the new details, or quote their last post and update with new details whatever is easiest for you!
Thank you!1 -

To all the new folks - Welcome!! There is no doubt in my mind that without the support and camaraderie of this group, I would not have lost 30lbs.3

Today is my first day on Keto. I really would like a glass of wine or something, but I will not do it! I have never tried keto, but have been trying to read about it and so far I know I have to plan, plan, plan. It will be a challenge, but I need to lose 43lbs. Any books or website recommendations appreciated.

Let's do it @eggfooyamyam! I definitely need more help checking in. I try to at least get my food put into my diary every day, but I don't always remember to close it. So I'm trying to work on that too!3 -

Welcome Diamond! Firstly, I drank my share of wine when I first started and sometimes I still do. Wine has a pretty low carb count. I believe Sauvignon Blanc is the lowest at 3 grams for a 5-ounce glass. It counts toward your daily carb intake, so you just need to log it. Many Keto gurus advise against drinking alcohol because it interferes with liver function and we are trying to repair insulin resistance by repairing our livers. Which brings me to videos to watch or blogs to read. The following helped me:
Dr. Eric Berg - Wonderfully to the point videos without all the fancy production. My go-to Keto mentor.
Keto Connect - Super cute Keto couple who cover the gamut of the Keto lifestyle - recipe videos, daily menus,
ingredients & product recommendations, shopping, etc..
Thomas DeLauer - A fat to fit story who makes exhaustively comprehensive videos about the science of Keto.
Gnom Gnom - A great recipe website with beautiful pictures and the expertise of a chef. I just made hamburger
buns that defied all the pitfalls of keto baked goods. They looked just like they did
on the website - I couldn't believe it!
Don't stress about anything. I ate deliciously simple meals for months while I slowly built my pantry with things like almond and coconut flour, Xantham gum, erythritol, liquid stevia, etc... There is a learning curve, but the beautiful thing is if you keep your macros in check, you will still lose weight while you are learning. There are so many success stories on this thread. If you have any questions - this is a good place be!xDaniDragonflyx wrote: »eggfooyamyam wrote: »

It's been difficult to keep up with logging for the past 2 weeks and loss had slowed. (Actually stopped) I'm traveling this week so it won't get any better till I get home. Hope to get back on track next week.

Hi everyone! I have been absent from the group mostly due to my busy schedule. I believe there are two kinds of busy. For me its the normal, life is hectic - I have a husband who travels for work, 4 kids, a job, etc - it is what it is, and we make it work.
THEN, there is the: "what was I thinking when I signed up for this, I bit off more than I can chew" kind of busy. Right now my life is in the latter category. I signed up for a few more things adding about 15 hours (that I didn't have) to my week so it's a busy season, leaving very little 'me time'. But, I know this is important, so here I am!
I have met some great MFP friends that have stuck around (thank you!) and I am excited to see so many new people in this group. Welcome!
I'm up 4-5 lbs over the past 6 weeks and it's the most I've been up since I started this journey (even over vacations I maintained) so I'm a little disappointed in myself, but I know what to do to fix it.
My goal this month is not in numbers, but to get back into Ketosis, to fit in a couple of workouts per week, and get back to tracking EVERYTHING I eat! If I do those things, I know the scale numbers will follow. Then I can get back to numbers goals.
I know how important it is for me to be on track before the holidays hit full-swing, so I'm ready!
SW: 153
GW: 115 (I'm 5' 1" so this is reasonable depending on my muscle mass. I'm fine with a higher weight number if my body fat % is where it should be!)
October 1 start weight: 135

KLD thanks for the warning. The holidays are the most difficult time for me. Last year I ballooned up to 210 pounds and was very sick (currently 174). I was prediabetic, had bad joints, no energy, depressed and in a downward spiral. Then I heard about this crazy idea of eating high fat, moderate protein and low carbs. I tinkered around with keto over the holidays but didn’t fully commit until New Years. Keto pulled me out of my downward spiral!
This will be my first holiday season fully armed with keto. I’m totally with you KLD! Tracking is key. I’m starting today and keeping my good tracking habit through the holidays. I’m going to celebrate the holidays in a new way this year. Healthy, happy and habitual about tracking! I keto.

I hear you @stormywxs288 . I was absolutely miserable last holiday season. Every year we take a family photo (for our Christmas cards) and a photo with just my husband and I. My husband keeps a wallet size copy of each of these pictures in his truck all year. Every time I get in his truck and see the picture of me I cringe remembering how horrible I felt. I can't wait to redo those pictures this year!3

Going to Austin for a music festival this weekend. I'm going to still log in, and I'll stick to healthy eating and drinking if I can find it. Luckily there's a lot of options there.4

Hi all! My name is Jackie and I literally just started Keto today lol For the past few months I have been eating healthy, Whole Foods containing real ingredients. I still have slip ups and have even gained more weight. I’m the heaviest I have ever been in my life. I decided to give the Keto diet a try since I have heard all the raves about it and I am tired of slipping up on my diets. Any advice would be great! I have been looking up recipes and bought a book as well. I will love to weigh in with the group every Sunday. Since it’s only Friday I will state my current weight. I just got back from a Dr.’s appointment and was shocked at what the scale said...144 pounds! My goal is to lose 10 pounds to start with. Thanks and I look forward to losing weight with you all!1
