@gwendyprism I have always been a big water drinker...so not drinking it seems...odd lol
I fill up my water bottle 2-3 times a day, it holds a liter...I have just added another teaspoon of salt to that...that makes 2 teaspoons of salt plus anything that has been added to my food.
This HAS to help out somehow...1 -
I was craving a tuna sandwich today so I tried making my first keto bread. I wanted something simple with no exotic ingredients. Found a 1 serving microwave recipe. I was surprised how good it was! Nice to have an easy option and I no longer have to feel bread deprived.4

My "quote" and link seems to be acting weird lately. Hope this works.0 -
Recipe: mix in greased large mug or small bowl: 1 T oil or melted butter, 1egg, 3T almond flour, 1/2 t. Baking powder. Mix well with fork and microwave 90 seconds. Cut in half for 2 slices bread. (I toasted mine lightly in toaster to brown. )6

Day 30!!!
So, according to my weekly weigh-ins, I am down just a tad bit over10lbs. I wont measure myself until Nov 1st, but I know I have lost some inches already. Others have noticed a smaller waist...so yay!
First week was fine, a little tired but nothing crazy. Second and third week, keto flu was real! I was tired, foggy, feeling all types of icky...fourth week was a bit better. I started adding salt to my drinks and the keto flu went away. Energy wise I am still waiting for it to kick in. I am not super tired but I could use a little more energy.
My net carbs continue to be under 20g...my protein is always a bit over, but I am ok with that. Fat...sometimes I hit the numbers, mostly under...I feel full and sometimes don't even eat the full 1400 calories recommended...
The scale had been a little wonky these past few weeks, last 2 weeks there was a change at all, previous week to that it had only been 1lb down. This morning the scale finally moved towards the right direction....down! I will keep an eye out for a trend based on my cycle/ovulation, this is probably what was impacting my scale.
I am really looking forward to more changes. I have a picture I took last year on my bday (Nov 30) and I was about 10lbs more than my keto starting weight, would like to see how far down I get!!
Definitely will be taking a comparison pic!5 -
@Everyonelies you made it! congrats on the trend and getting some external validation0

I'm actively living the Ketogenic WOE and currently working toward a healthy weight. I am 5'3", 28 years of age, a mother of five, and I weigh 223.8lb (as of 10/30/2018). I am a ways away from my goal, but I'm enjoying the journey along the way.
I'm hoping for friends for accountability and motivation!6 -
Hi everyone! I’m Jeri and I’m brand new to this community. I recently started the Keto lifestyle about a week ago. Man, it’s been tough! I am hoping that I can learn a lot from this group and maybe gain a few accountability partners in the process! Not sure if this is the right thread for introductions, but I’m happy to be here and looking forward to making friends!6

I'm new here too and am on day 6 of keto. I'm looking forward to the next week going by (hopefully quickly) so I can start to feel better and be more motivated to exercise. I'm zonked in the evenings but I know that will pass soon. I'm glad to have found this group and am hoping I can be a supportive member. Cheers!2

New to the group, not to MFP. Started in July at 173kg (383lbs), but I figure my true highest weight was around 180kg (396ish) last winter.
Current weight: 146kg (322lbs)
Year's End Goal Weight: 135kg (299lbs)
Overall Goal Weight: 78kg (173lbs)
Keto day 112 or 113, I've lost count tbh. I started tracking CICO at the start, so it's easy to know that is day 115.
Most carb cravings have stopped, which is pretty great. Keto is so much easier than it looks from the outside. I figured I'd eat more bacon on keto from the way other people talked about it.. but I rarely do.
Good luck to everyone else here, and I hope you hit your macros and your goals! Now, time to go do another 21km on the bike.8 -
Hey everyone! Hope y'all are having a good day so far! This is my first time posting in the daily check in thread but I've been a member of the group for a while and have been doing Keto since April. What's up with y'all today?1
-
Is it really day 121 for me? 50 days and 8.6kg (19lbs) left until my yearly goal.
Hope everyone else is having success and hitting their macros!6 -
@CentaurusSoter amazing progress!!! Good for you!2

Hi everyone! I'm new to the keto lifestyle and am seeing results. My question is is it normal for your urine to smell strange? Is that a sign of ketosis?2
-
I would say yes.1

Hey! I feel like I get on this keto kick then off it. But this time around I’ve had a heart to heart with myself and I need to just let go of sugar and snacks. It’s not even that I crave them it’s mostly because they’re convenient. But now I told myself my health is more important and letting those things go now will make me happy and possibly never crave them again if I remind myself how harmful they are to my body. Today is day two and because I ate way less than my goal calories yesterday I’m sure I can get in ketosis faster. Just need to up that water intake and stay below 20 carbs (which yesterday I only ate 10g of carbs and it was on 2 tbsp of ketchup!). Once I get in ketosis I want to eat healthy carbs like vegetables!! I’ll probably fill out the spreadsheet in December that way I’ll know that I stuck through it. I can’t be going back and forth anymore.1

I've done the low-carb/keto thing in spurts in the past when I wanted quick weight loss results but never stuck with it for any length of time. After reading the latest study about the impact of low-carb diets on metabolism, I've decided that maybe I need to get back on the bandwagon and stick with it. The truth is that I like the foods I get to eat on keto and I (almost) don't miss the other 'stuff'. So here I am back at it for the last 5 days and doing well. I do have one question for the group... should I limit carbs strictly to 20 grams per day or 20% of my total caloric intake? TIA2

Most people for keto use under 20 carbs or 5-10% of calories. Then there are people who just look at total carbs and others (like me) who use net carbs (which is total carbs minus the fiber.)
People who are just low carb, not keto, often have higher carbs.2 -
Happy Thanksgiving, my American friends! Today is only one day. Whether you choose to let loose or not, it's only one day and you'll be completely fine whichever way you decide to go.3

I find that if I make sure I am under 30 total via the app throughout the day, I usually am under or at my 20 net goal when I check with the script on my pc. Most days I’ll end at 20-25 total unless I add in something like a different protein shake, some string cheese post workout, a yogurt, or a low carb treat. 5% ended up being much easier than it seemed like in July.4 -
Hello everyone! I’m just starting Keto today. I bumped into a friend earlier in the week, she looked amazing and told me she lost 35 lbs doing Keto. I have tendencies toward diabetes - it runs in my family and I had gestational diabetes with both my pregnancies - so I think low carb will be good for me. I recently injured my knee and haven’t been exercising much so I’m putting on weight which is getting me down. Hoping Keto will help and I’m going to try to fit in more moderate exercise, also will be starting physical therapy for my knee. Thanks everyone!6

4 months since my carpal tunnel had been an issue. Carb heavy days have wrecked that and brought back the numbness and weakness in my hands. This was the practical test I needed to find out if I could go back to a normal diet. A resounding “nope” is the answer. Now, I some muscle rub and naproxen.. as I am inflamed and sore.
The soreness is at least from my personal victory of 28 miles on the exercise bike last night.3
