    @Janet: I think that is true. I have a colleague that was put on leave the first half of this school year. He does the same thing day in and out and his quality of work was getting sloppy to the point that he was putting kids at risk. He was on probation all of last year and he had another issue before the year was out so he is waiting to see if he has his job back. I always felt that I would become stagnant unless I pushed myself out of my comfort zone.
    As far as running, I think that it is like losing weight. You have to change up what you eat or your body adjusts. I also think the body develops muscle memory. I always had running routes and I found that reversing them really changed things. I also did intervals, hill training runs and hill repeats to mix things up. Then I threw trail running in the mix. Now that is a whole different animal. Your time slows tremendously. So glad your body seems to have responded to your change of routine.

    Feb. 3: Adding 16 3/4 miles of walking 2.75 miles and x biking 14 miles
    TTD: 47.25 miles

    I'm really struggling with making myself do any kind of regular exercise. Cannot get motivated at all. Please put me down for 50 miles this month. Maybe this will help.

    2.1 miles. Part of that were laps around the track doing farmer carries during Boot Camp. I grabbed 30 lb kettle bells. Arms not sore yet. May regret that decision in the morning :smiley:

    @Just_Ceci: So good to have you back! I thought you took a wrong turn on your bike and got lost.

    Feb. 4: Adding 18 miles of walking 3 miles (it was in the 60’s here...freaky weather) and cycling 15 mph. My speed has been greatly improving on my bike while my meniscus tear continues to trip at unexpected moments.

    @Kar: Is a farmer carry when you haul weights around like a farmer hauls bales and sacks of grain?

    @kar328, you're becoming a fitness BEAST!!!!
    I too was unmotivated the first two days of this month & chose to do nothing. Still not feeling 100% from the cold I just had but I got my lab results back & EVERYTHING (like Iron, Thyroid, Vit D, Progesterone, Testosterone, (my estrogen was fine), dhea, etc etc were all in the TANK so that explains why I'm feeling wrung out. Will try to get my iron infusion on Friday because it was a 7 & she said it should be between 15-150. She wants to test me for Hashimotos Thyroiditis too. What NEXT? This getting old sucks!!
    Did ride ex bike 16 miles during Super Bowl & walked my feet 3 miles this evening.
    Plus I shoveled snow & shoveled snow today in the negative temps. We are a negative all week!

    No, it's when you haul a weight around and complain about the weather the whole time. :smile:

    Feb. 5: Adding 16 miles. Took my chemo pup for a walk to enjoy the milder weather. Plus his human dad is out of town and he is laying at my door waiting for him to come home.
    So 3 miles of walking and 13 miles on the x bike.

    @Dean: I like your definition of farmer carry.
    @vhuber: Wow, I would say that might explain your fatigue. And yes, some days I fewl like aging sink. I cannot believe that one day I am running and the next I am dealing with multiple cysts and another tear in my knee. Today I forgot to take my ibuprofen before walking and I was feeling the pain.
    @Dave: So are you trying to tell us that your internal clock is screwed up?

    Hi guys, just peeping in, good to see you are all still moving. I don't have any distance goals right now just my standard goal of moving 10K steps daily. @Janet: About the 10,000 hour rule and what makes somebody stand out, I suggest you read the book Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell
