How many carbs per day do you personally consume while maintaining Ketosis? Please say whether you track Net or Total Carbs.
Ps Let’s please keep this post debate free, I’m honestly curious about works best for others.

My goal is 25g Total carbs per day, but I can do 50+g (I’m not sure what the actual “+” equals) and can still maintain Ketosis.
I also can get back rather quickly if I accidentally kick myself out.
My H however needs to stay under 20g Net to maintain and has a really hard time getting in Ketosis if he gets knocked out.2 -
When I was keto I was tracking total carbs and generally stayed around 30-40g which also included sweeteners.
I’m carnivore now and I don’t track anymore and obviously don’t have any trouble maintinaing Ketosis on the measly 3g or so I get from eggs or cheese so you probably don’t care about that info3 -
Under 20 net carbs. I usually hit it.0

I aim for 30g or lower of Net carbs/day, but most days i'm in the low 20s.0

He's done it twice in the past but is not currently. Both times it took him a week to start producing Ketones and he suffered horribly with Keto Flu even though I was practically spoon feeding him electrolytes. He already has a terrible metabolism so Keto was really hard for him. BUT when he's in it, he drops weight like crazy. He lost like 43lbs in 3mths.1 -
I haven't paid much attention to "net" carbs honestly, I have been limiting myself to be under 41g total carbs daily...I hit that amount on most days, and sometimes go over...but I'm not super "strict" on myself.
I've lost 30 lbs since Jan 1 this way... Have yet to start measuring ketones, a lot of people are very adamant that you need to...but so far I don't feel like I do..I may be in it, I may not be, but the weight keeps coming off so.....5 -

Oh ok, I was just curious. Most of the time people can get back in the zone in a day or two, so I wasn't aware that it can be difficult to some people.

Testing is not the end all be all. I like to test my blood after eating different foods to see how my body reacts to them. The deeper and deeper I get into adaption the more I like to play around with more carbs and/or protein ranges. This is when testing is key. But in all honestly, I only strongly recommend daily testing for people battling metabolic disease (ex: cancer, diabetes, epilepsy etc.) where blood number are extremely important.3 -
My carb goals cycle between 51 and 100 depending on the day.
My actual consumption averages more like 5-65 since I'm usually carnivore on the low days and I try not to go crazy on the high days. I track total carbs as well as fiber, so if I'm a bit over and my fiber is high, then I don't worry about it. I totally love my salads and veggies and I miss them on my carnivore days, but I really struggle to hit my protein goals, so I'm trying to work on that.
I have in past had days as high as 200 and still maintained ketosis, but those days included intense workouts morning, noon, and evening along with about 6-8 hours of labor intensive gardening or farm work, so that sort of thing doesn't happen often in my world.
I do keto for migraine control, and it's been working like magic for about 20 months now.7 -
I keep mine 25g Net or under.0
-
I stay between 20-30g net. For me the appetite suppression is amazing and I really need that.3
-
I stay under 20 net. Most days it is under 10 net. I have been doing this since 2016, but I have never checked ketones, so on a technicality, I don't *know* that I am in ketosis.2

I personally aim for 25 grams of carbs per day and usually end up less than 30 per day. I just count carbs (not net) to keep it honest with myself.

I do between 30 and 50 net carbs a day but that is because I am still breastfeeding my youngest. When I am not pregnant or breastfeeding, I keep the carbs under 25 net a day. I do net because I often eat things that are high total carbs but also high in fiber. Some days that is a difference of 30+ carbs and if my body cant use them as carbs, and my blood sugars dont recognize them as sugar, I am not going to base my eating on them. A difference of 30+ carbs is quite a few calories for me.2

@tcunbeliever My husband has TERRIBLE migraines- was diagnosed with chronic migraine. We just started keto Monday- do you recall about how long it took for your migraines to improve?1
-
Oh, and I didn't respond to the OP: I do 20 total carbs.0
-
I had reduced frequency and severity of migraines after about 3 days, but I was still having them...I went from migraines 5 days a week down to 2-3 days a week and not as bad a migraine, more responsive to medication...after about 100 days I no longer had migraines at all, even when exposed to my usual migraine triggers.
Migraines are terrible, and not having them is totally magical!8 -
For my first year or two I stayed under 20g total.
Then I thought I'd try increasing carbs to up to 40g total a day, but too often it crept up and my calories and weight crept up too.
I've been mostly carnivore for a year now, so my carbs are usually under 5g total a day.3 -
I've had constant 0.5-0.6 nutritional ketosis blood ketone ratings as high as 100 net carbs. Being upfront: This only happens if my exercise level is intense enough (90 minutes of exercise) that my muscles are grabbing the fuel so timing is key.
With just regular exercise levels (30-60 minutes daily) 40-60 net carbs gets me around a 0.7 reading. If I want higher than a 1.0 I need to be around 30-40 net.0 -

@tcunbeliever Thanks for letting me know! We're on day 5 and no change in his migraine pattern yet, but fingers crossed. Glad to hear it's made such a difference for you!1 -
I’m primarily carnivore so less than 10gm a day.
@Hilogirl2018 i also have had relief from the migraines I was plagued with! I saw a gradual decrease in the number (8-10 a month to 2 at the most!) over a period of about 60 days.2 -

@KarlaYP that is wonderful - what a huge difference! We're only a week in, and I will pass this along. I did keto in the past, consistently 10-20 grams for 2 years and unfortunately didn't experience any decrease in my chronic pain, but I don't have migraines. Really, really hoping keto helps him the way it's helped you and @tcunbeliever2 -
I seem to be averaging between 30-40 net carbs a day with a few days of around 25 net carbs. I'm totally impressed with myself when I have a day of 25 net carbs but I know that right now even with 40 net carbs daily i'm still dropping weight so I don't stress about it.4

I eat carnivore and get a few grams from processed meats (beef sticks, jerky, hot dogs), eggs, cheese, and seasonings/sauces (I use very little sauces).
Also, I have type 1 diabetes and sometimes need a few grams of carbs to treat a low BG.
Finally, I sometimes use supplements with carbs during intense exercise for longer durations.
On Fri., I was driving and ate some gas station hot dogs with ketchup.
On Sat., I ran a marathon. Most of the carbs came from supplements taken right before or during the race.

5-15 grams of carbs daily.1
-
I try to stay at 25g but usually end up 25-40; I can get in ketosis after running a few miles but I’m not continuously in ketosis; I just started testing my blood ketones; so I’ll get a better idea abt my baseline0
-
Under 45 net per day, usually somewhere in the 30s. I recently starting testing my blood ketones and it varies for the better when I eat less carbs but I'm still in ketosis at the higher carb allotment.1
-
Generally less than 20g, in ketosis and fat adapted,. During activite training can go easily up to 50 and stay in ketosis, but I prefer the fat/protiens.1
