Getting back into the other 90% of my huge wardrobe....
A 6 month bout of stress eating caused this7 -
Spite! LOL. Want to make my ex eat crow.
Also, I want to be the kind of parent who still wins footraces against my kid until she's taller than me.
And I want to keep my amazing dog in shape so he lives as long as possible--lots of outdoor running and hiking to keep him fit.14 -
Hahaha! RunsWithDogs - I hear ya on the spite one! It's stupid, but whatever works! I'm conflicted with spite (so juvenile, but I must be in better shape than my ex's 21 yo bimbo - he's 44). And it makes me happy when my boyfriend tells me how awesome I look. (Hate admitting how shallow I really can be).
I'll be able to start entering my horse in races next year and I need to be in as good of shape as possible.
If I lose 10 more lbs - absolutely everything in my closet will fit. I REALLY want to buy some new jeans, but I'm making myself be a solid 27 before I'll do it.

I know it sounds bad, but using spite as my motivator has been extremely effective. It also helps me bring up any residual emotions and sweat them out while I work out. I'm a calmer and more well-rounded person after I exercise.8

It's a great way to turn a negative into a positive. After I've worn myself out physically - I feel so much better. I think it's a healthy way to deal with emotions and heal.7 -
My motivation to lose weight is myself. I hate looking at myself in the mirror. I even go as far to avoid mirrors in my own bathroom. I love myself - my personality but my body could use some work.10
-
I just want to look permanently like what I look like when I suck in my tummy.16
-
I'm going to Japan in 3 weeks and really want to be slimmer than I am now! Also, I just want to feel pretty and confident when I go to parties and hang out with my prettier and thinner friends.4
-
I miss my cloths. I really want to wear the clothes I fit into just a 2 years ago. Plus I miss my muscles under the fluffy layer.4
-
To not feel like a frumpy mom anymore. I've felt that way for the last 5 years because I've been carrying about 15-20 extra pounds. I'm down 13 lbs and starting to feel better but I'd love to feel confident in clothes and my swimsuit. I want to be the mom still feeling good at the pool and beach and not hiding under my beach cover-up.10
-
We're headed to the beach in 42 days............. I'm super self conscious in bathing suits anyway. I want to be as toned and thin as possible by the time we get there. I couldn't even tell you the last time I had a vacation and haven't hung out on a beach in many many years. I HATE feeling frumpy and looking like a white beached whale.5

My biggest motivator is just how I look when I'm getting dressed for work or to go out on a date. Right now, the vast majority of "nice" clothes in my closet make me feel chunky - they fit, they cover my rolls, but in order to do that, they also make me look bulkier than I am (IMO anyways).
Plus, I don't fit into a lot of my closet right now, and that's not okay either.
Now that my life is settling down, I'm working on rededicating myself to getting this weight off - my previous excuses/reasons are no longer valid, so time to let it be a priority again.
Started back to tracking last week, been working on getting back into cooking the past few weeks, workouts are starting up this week - taking small steps (for example, workout can be short and sweet, but the idea is to do SOMETHING), I know what I need to do, and for some reason feeling extra frumpy lately has given me a much needed kick in the motivation pants.
Even though I haven't actually gained, I just have been feeling way more frumpy, probably because it's warmer here where I live now, and I can't wear my big bulky tops all summer like I could in San Francisco.5 -
Clothes!!! Got down to goal, bought a bunch of stuff, then couldn't maintain and now it's all tight6

I'm getting old and I dont want to look old8

Exactly!!! I still mentally think I'm late 20s.... and just not ready to deal with looking my age if it can be avoided.5 -
I really want to wear skirts and shorts, and I would also love to try Aerial yoga, but I feel like I'm in debt to my body and that I need to lose fat from my legs, first.
Thanks to my genetics and a lot of sedentarism during my teens I have a lot of cellulitis in my tights.
Right now I'm feeling ready to start a new routine and get healthier.5 -
@MissMag23, just confirming that you mean cellulite (the dimply looking skin on thighs) and not cellulitis - which is a skin infection that can be life threatening. If it is red & painful cellulitis get to your doctor fast.2

I have a autoimmune condition and treatment for it has the side effects of increased appetite, weight gain, and irregular weight distribution (face, upper back and neck, etc) I was good about weight in the beginning, but it has really slipped away from me the last few years, and I really don’t want to look like a chipmunk with stuffed cheeks or an eggplant with toothpicks for limbs (... again)9
-
I’m older. I don’t want to wear frumpy clothing and comfortable shoes. I’m working to get to my ultimate vanity weight.7
-
I'd crept up by a stone but also just kept losing about 7 pounds and putting back 9 like twice a year, which was eroding a bit of muscle each time. Lost 12 and recomped.3
-
I weigh more than I ever have in my life. My arms are growing, I have folds of fat in my back whenever I lean back too far, and I have love handles. I don't need a flat stomach, I just want to be 140 again, I want to be able to bend however I want without thick rolls getting in my way!3
-
It doesn't feel good. I gained a few pounds thanks to a new job (hello stress and travelling) and I feel a bit gross. I also have a bad habit of binging when I'm travelling so I'm working on my mindfulness at the same time.
Fantasy: 6 pack abs. I'll never get that low of body fat though lol3 -
Not settling on the, “But you’re 30 now and have two kids. You look fine considering that...”. Nope! I want to feel good in my body again! I’ve dropped 24 since January 1! I’m at 122 and want to get to 116-118 by the end of the year!4

I have always been good with exercise but I tend to be an emotional eater and also have trouble with snacking. I lost my dad a couple of years ago and put on some weight with that, then lost my dog last fall (he was only 2, so was a shock) and put some more on with that. Plus the last 3 or 4 years my husband got me into weightlifting and while I have put on muscle, I have fat on top which I feel is covering it up too much. I don't feel like I look bad, just not as good as I would like. I need to get my diet under control so I can uncover the muscle I have5

Because I'm in a SERIOUSLY petty mood today - but it's not exactly when your ex is engaged to a 22 year old.... I MUST stay fitter/thinner/whatever more than she is... He's 44 - I think it's cute that he's exactly twice her age. (I'd be better about if he hadn't been sleeping with her the last year I was married to him when she was 19).
It's fabulous motivation.16 -
I'm 60 and don't want to end up like Mama having to hold onto someone from the car to the store, due to balance issues. She is 80. Training at the gym has helped me a lot with that and I have lost inches. Still fighting the stomach fat, but know there are muscles under :-)3

My current motivation is the cruise we are going on in 7 weeks, but recent motivations included pole dancing competitions in which I was onstage in what was basically a bikini while strangers judged me.2
-
My motivation is fitting back into my favorite pair of jeans...
Also, my mom is really healthy (she is 51 with nearly a 6 pack!)
She is a huge motivator. I look forward to the day where I can kick her a** in our workouts! lol5 -

You're so much braver than me - that's awesome!! ... I'm dreading going swimsuit shopping for our vacation next month. DREADING it - I'm not big...but I'm not thin & toned either.2 -
Current Motivation: LOOK & FEEL GOOD in a bikini
I've gotten strong and leaner but still working on that sexy beach body. Turning 47 this year and I want to look and feel my best!! Don't want to be that "mom" that gave up-6
