    1. Personally I avoid adding almond milk/cream/etc to my morning beverage if I am fasting. But some people do use almond milk (or even a small amount of cream) and still have a lot of success with IF (success meaning weight loss). If you are doing IF for other (medical/therapeutic/autophagy) reasons, then you may need to avoid it. This is your own experiment of one, so try a few approaches and see what works for you!

    2. Check the info on the canned mushrooms (or any product) as each brand will vary. Don't drain them to get rid of sodium!! You need much more sodium on a ketogenic diet as your body is flushing a lot of water everyday, and with it sodium and electrolytes. Sodium deficiency can make you feel tired and sick (keto flu).

    3. Splenda in the powdered form has dextrose and maltodextrin, both of which have basically the same effect as plain sugar will raise your blood glucose, so I avoid it whenever possible. My preference for coffee/tea is liquid stevia, and there are other granular and powdered options for backing and cooking.

Be aware that sweeteners like stevia, monk fruit, and sugar alcohols like xylitol and erythritol are not artificial. They are natural and extracted from fruits and other plants. Many people refer to them as alternative sweeteners, but it's important to know that they are not artificial.

I will look into other sweetners but it's limited here or I will have to buy it off amazon.

I have HBP which I have to take meds for. So i have to watch my sodium.

    Thanks all.

Interesting! I hadn't realized that Splenda had so much dextrose in it.

So, I had a mini vacation. I did not counted calories. I just kind of monitor my carb intake. There was beer and wine involve and 3 days of monitoring rather than strict logging. But, at the end I maintained. So Yeah!! for non-scale victories :) Let's stay strong and focus this week and keep on going.

A little late to the party as I decided to start the Keto Diet this week. I'm hoping for a 10 lb loss at the end of the month but what is more important for me is my inches lost.

Okay, second day of Keto done. I’m still learning recipes and since I was crazy busy at work I just had eggs for breakfast AND for lunch. Hard boiled and mashed with ranch dressing, I’ve never felt so full in my life. Eek! If I never see another egg it will be too soon. 😆

@missezkbee .. Totally know the feeling. My first two weeks in Keto, it was nothing but eggs for breakfast and snack. My husband and I have not touch eggs since then. We are officially going on 5 weeks. Good lucks, it gets better once you branch out into other foods

    July GW: 218 (10 lbs)

    07/07: 224.5 lbs
07/15: 224.6 lbs This number is inflated, since my son's birthday was yesterday and I had some birthday cake and fruit. My calories were reasonable/maintenance but my carbs were significantly up, so I think that this will be a bit lower by tomorrow after a day of keto. :)
