    Hi. My name is Betty. Next April I will hit the half-century mark and don't want to be this heavy when I do it. I have had issues with my weight all my life. I've lost hundreds of pounds over the years, only to gain them back, plus. In fact , back in 2012-2014, I lost over 100#, felt wonderful, looked great, and had so much confidence. Well here I am, back over the 300 mark. I can lose weigjt, I can't keep it off. I go back to my old habits. Overall, I'm healthy and active, just heavy. My goal is to take it off and keep it off.
    I weigh -in on Wednesdays. I will also track food, calories, exercise, and daily check in. Wishing positive thoughts to all.

    Welcome Betty I've been there with losing and gaining weight back so I am wishing you much success on your new journey and know the tools will help you keep the weight off this time around. We GOT THIS

    So I started my squat Challenge yesterday with 100 squats and today is the 2nd day of Total Fit Gym leg squat Challenge and I did 200 squats and 1 for good luck in 9 minutes and 6 secs. So proud of myself. Yes my legs are hurting from yesterday but at least I did not have any Charlie horses like Friday evening and I got 10 hours of sleep.

    Plus had my dinner with mixed veggies and curry-mustard marinade chicken

    First daily post (I can’t figure out how to make a check mark)
    § track yes
    § nutrition. Calories in range, 4 fruit 1 veggie, 33 g of fiber
    § exercise 110 minutes doubles tennis
    Sunday nights I sometimes have trouble getting to sleep because my weigh in is Monday morning. I know weight loss is not a direct line down and sometimes when the scale doesn’t move, it is just because our bodies need to adjust. So I tell myself not to get emotional about the scale moving a little up or down. But it doesn’t quite work. So I am trying to refocus and use Sunday nights to evaluate if I met my fitness goals for the week. This was a very active week, a total of 525 exercise minutes, but even though my calories were below goal, I didn’t get the most nutrition from those calories. Most days I didn’t get enough fiber and my veggie total was not even close. So I know what I need to do for the coming week. No matter what the scale says tomorrow, I am so happy to be in this supportive positive group. So following the suggestions, I am smiling as I express my gratitude to all of you!

    Hi team!! I’m new to the group! I am 33 with 2 daughters (5 and 2) and an amazing husband who can cook WAY too good!! Lol!

    I am currently the heaviest I have been in my entire life, including my pregnancies! Ever since I had my second child, nothing I do works! It really hit me this past weekend at a NASCAR race! I was there with Team KWC (Kids With Cancer) raising awareness and money to send care packages to kids! Our Kids Krew hit their goal and all the adults had to do the bouncy house! Seeing that video of me on FB about had me in tears!!

    It also doesn’t help that I can’t work out like I used to due to back issues! However I am on the road to recovery as I have been doing decompression therapy to help my back and in a couple of weeks I will get the green light on workouts again!

    I just want to feel good, have energy, and be able to run and play with my girls when they ask! Looking forward to seeing some changes and helping others with motivation!!!

    Daily Post (Sunday)

    Track: Yes
    Calories: Yes
    Exercise: 45 mins weight training, heavy squats, 30 mins walking.

    Comments: Been taking it a bit easy today, yesterday I was particularly sore and was very active all day, and today I've been feeling a bit drained and I took a nap earlier, which gave me enough energy to get through my workout. Been trying to get back into a normal routine, which has been surprisingly difficult, but it's really necessary.

    @dustyspal Welcome Betty! I think it's really great that you've been able to lose weight in the past and really, you have managed to achieve what a lot of others haven't been able to! And you can get there again, you got this!

    I am currently trying to work on how I will continue, I have actually reached my original goal of losing 100 lbs, and what's nuts about that is I still have a bit more body fat that I want to lose, and realistically not necessarily weight, although that's likely going to happen anyway as I am targeting the remaining body fat. I'm trying to figure out what a maintenance will look like for me, and if I am really there or I want to keep eating and working out the way I have been or now that I'm happy with the weight, do I focus more on gaining muscle again and I really don't know what the answer really is here and that's making it a lot harder to continue. But I have been spending a lot of time thinking about what maintenance may look like for me so that I might transition easier and keep the weight off for good.

    @nrkelly04 Welcome to the team! I should repost the picture that made me turn my life around. I was holding my newborn niece when my mom took a picture of me and her and all I saw was a blob holding a baby and I decided enough was enough.

    It is a challenge to workout around injuries, I had a period of about 4 weeks when I hurt my hip where I wasn't able to do lower body workouts, and instead I did focus on my upper body so it wasn't a total loss. Hang in there, you will be getting back to normal soon, and when you do, it IS important to take it slow until you're feeling your best again. And one of the biggest parts of weight loss is the diet portion anyway, so in the meantime, focus on your nutrition and work on the workouts when you're back to normal! You got this!!

    @tennisquilter Welcome to the team Janet! I will say that while I have been successful over the last 2 years at shedding the 100 lbs I set out to shed, it has NOT been easy and it's taken some real determination to do it, and I believe that we are ALL capable of the change that's required to do it, we just have to take it a little at a time and realize that there will be challenges and struggles, but we have friends to help us (ie, this group)! Your goals are great, and my best advice is to take it one day at a time until you build up your new healthy habits because that's where the success lies, in creating healthier habits!

    There's a few ways to make a checkmark and it does depend on how you're accessing the threads, I believe on a mobile device you can do it as an emoji, although that's not really my preference. If you're on windows you can hold down the "alt" key and then press the numbers 2, 5, and 1 (not at the same time, but in that order, although you will want to keep the "alt" key pressed while you enter the numbers) and it will create a check mark (√)
    You can also copy and paste a check mark from an emoji site like this one: https://getemoji.com/ ✔️ ✅ ☑️ 🗸 Although I'm lazy and prefer keyboard shortcuts so I tend to use the alt code version rather than going out to a website and copying one down.

    @jeapri17 Great day!!

    @CindyJNC1963 Still a great day, and sometimes we need to take a little bit of rest, I did yesterday, only walked for an hour or so, and today I did weight train (really the workout I was supposed to do yesterday) and walked only a little, and I did get in a nap!

    @Fitness327wk Great day! That's a pretty great hike!

    @XPatChez Welcome Cheryl! I do think it's important to look at the bigger picture as a whole, but in my experience, I've done a lot better when I looked at the total amount of weight loss that I needed to achieve in smaller increments, like 15 or 30 lbs at a time. But you've taken the first step, and that's a great start!!
    You got this!

    @lsjhudson Hang in there, it's temporary, and a few days of under eating won't be too unhealthy in the long run.
    And I feel your pain, while I've been not entirely ill, but I've had an ear infection this week which is a particularly large challenge considering one of my jobs requires me to wear a headset and speak to humans, so that was not only uncomfortable with just wearing the headset, but it actually hurt to have the volume at a level required to be able to hear people, glad to be past that, and I hope you're back to feeling better soon!

    @Gadgetgirl259 Welcome back Amy! Your goals are great and know you're going to have a great month! You've already done such an amazing job! Glad to have you back for another month!!

    @vicky2767 Glad you're back for another month. Sometimes it is definitely difficult to get back on the wagon after you fall off, it's happened to me many times over my journey and the trick is that no matter how long it takes you to get back on the wagon, it's just more important TO get back on it! You got this!

    @13point1runnermomma Welcome back Stefanie! I think it's easy to gain the weight but much harder to lose it, but you're doing great! You got this!

    @nebslp Welcome Rita! Age IS just a number, I am actually in better shape at 33 than I was at 23 and I feel better and have so much more energy now than I did then! I was morbidly obese myself, but otherwise healthy, didn't have a lot of health issues, and all my tests were normal, but I still wouldn't call myself healthy at that point. I would definitely say that I am now!
    I think that you're doing pretty great, being able to walk 8-10 miles is AWESOME! I think that food will always be the most difficult part of the journey, temptation is everywhere around us, but I believe that you can do this, you can make healthier choices and you will get where you want to be!

    @mrsjas2000 Welcome Karen!! I will say that most of the battle with weight loss is gaining control over eating, and there are a few strategies that I've used over time, and the one that's really been the best for me is tracking my food before I eat it, and sometimes I've even gone as far as to prep meals for a few days at a time, and sometimes a week at a time. I find that preparation is my best defense against my eating habits, whether it's just planning what I eat before I eat it, or for the day or even for the week. Another thing that you may want to look into with your blood sugar and fatty liver issues is a ketogenic diet. It's extremely successful at reversing type 2 diabetes and fatty liver, ,both of which are caused by or made worse by sugar and insulin, and on a ketogenic diet, you do not consume sugar (carbs) and which reduces your insulin levels because you're not provoking an insulin response by ingesting sugar, thus lowering your insulin, and eventually eliminating diabetes, and fatty liver is also caused by (in some cases) or made worse by ingesting fructose (sugar), which you eliminate from your diet on a ketogenic diet, so that also helps. Look into it and do your own research for sure, but it's really effective for those things.

    @sherrilew Welome Sharon!! You CAN do this, and even if you don't make 250 before 50, you will still get there and you are still making so much positive progress and you can't be upset for that, even if it's not exactly what you were expecting. You got this!

    @AB0215 the dr I saw last week mentioned Keto, I’ve looked a little into it but not sure how to do it. I have a home daycare so I get to eat at odd ball times, and my family doesn’t need to lose any weight so they eat junk, I’ve been good staying away so far but it’s hard. I’ll have to look into keto more, maybe it’s not as hard as I think

    Todays Weight: 166

    I am so disappointed in myself. I just get so annoyed that if I don't watch one meal I have a problem. My husband was excited about making salmon pasta sauce for me. I had it for lunch yesterday. My calories are in range, my steps were good BUT this number makes me MAD!

    I was not sure if there is a week 5 or if this is the first weigh-in for August.

    @Kin59vara It's August :smile:

    Thanks for the update..... not happy about my beginning!

    My calories were under but my daily weight was up. I am glad that I am doing the daily weigh-in so that I can adjust my food accordingly. I thought my weight was up Sunday morning because I had pasta. I think today it is because I had several meals with bread as part of them. I am going to cut out the bread and see if there is a difference.

    *Weigh in on Mondays*

    Username: lsjhudson
    Week: August, week 1
    PW =217.9
    CW=217.3

    💥Loss this week: -0.6
    💥Total loss: -15.7 lb

    What insane effort this week just for basically 1/2 lb. Feeling frustrated but I suppose I'm still going down so shouldn't complain. Maybe once I start feeling better my stats will improve to go more in line with what my calories deficit should reflect 🤷‍♀️

    Hi Slimsons 👋🏻

    For those of you who haven’t seen me around, my name is Avril and I’m 29 years old from the UK. I had my son 8.5 months ago and when I weighed myself in February, 3 months postpartum, I was shocked to learn I was 184lbs. At that point I told myself “enough is enough” and I completely changed my way of eating and added in some exercise. I’ve lost 43lbs since then, my self confidence is back and my health has improved (no more knee pain). I’ve been with The Slimsons for many months now and we are a friendly and supportive team 😊

    🌟Goals for August🌟

    Lose at least 5lbs

    No more chocolate

    Start using my exercise bike again for at least 20 minutes a day

    💫 Let's reach our goals together this August! 💫
