    I just re-started my fitness journey, which newly includes Walking at home. I'd like to do a little walking outside as well, but until Virginia actually cools down, I'm sticking with walking indoors.

    Because I'm late getting started and because I'm building my routine up slowly, my goal for September is 20 miles. I'm so impressed with you guys who are getting in over 100 miles in a month, I can't wait to get to that level!

    Wecome tnicmorris! Glad you joined us. :)

    Oh my gosh this traveling for work is exhausting! Teaching is tiring, but when you add an hour drive to it (1/2 hour each way) holy smokes! When I get home, I literally fall asleep! :sleeping::laugh: On top of that, my husband is still in NY, so I am doing a lot of his work as well and frankly, lawn mowing does not seem to add many miles considering how much energy it takes!!!! Plus, I had to pick up a whole summer's worth of branches and sticks from our many trees! I want more miles!!!! :grumble: Meh, this too shall pass and I will live to tell of it for sure. :blush:

    You are all doing so well!!! :+: Welcome @tnicmorris! We are glad you found us and are joining our challenge!

    Long day tomorrow, so I will at least add up my Thursday miles in the classroom!!

    Walk Strong Everyone! :bigsmile:

    @zichab - What a schedule! I'm am so glad I am retired. I never was able to keep the weight off when I was working. I'd get to goal but get side tracked and boom, back came the weight.

    Not far to go before you'll be telling them what they can do with their stylus, right? Hold onto that happy thought.

    @knjstolt, thanks for the answer about covering your garden. It sure sound like your peppers are happy in their sunshine though B) . You are doing wonderful!

    @AnnofB, you're crushing that strength!

    @Americanbabydoll, you are so consistent!

    @tnicmorris, welcome! Your goal for the month is awesome, especially your plan to re-start your fitness journey! There are others here who are also waiting for it to cool down where we live B) .

    @zichab, it looks like you're burning a lot of cals and getting a lot of movement in, which your body likes... but sure doesn't satisfy our love of adding up the mileage :grumble: . Doing extra driving for work on top of the actual job is very tiring. Been there, done that, as they say, back in the day and :yawn: :sleeping: a lot then also.

    My goal for September is to continue to be active in some way at least 5 days a week, while continuing to add in more Leslie miles as well as outdoor walks as tolerated. I will also include other things like yard and garden work to keep me moving, while allowing my knee to completely heal. OK, I'm gonna go out on the limb and start to add in strength with weights or resistance bands walks or workouts 😲👍💪😄.

    September 1: Rest Day
    September 2: Decided it was going to be an easier day. Counted 60 minutes between grocery shopping and some working with the garden
    September 3: 3 miles Slim & Sleek 'Pilates Inspired Walk. 15 minutes yard/ garden this morning
    September 4: 3 miles Walk Slim Fast & Firm, plus some gardening
    September 5: 3 hours: a mix of errands & grocery shopping and work in the yard/ garden
    September 6: 3 miles WAP Express: Advanced Walk, 30 minutes garden
    September 7: 2 miles WAP Express: Walk Strong, 1 hour+ in the garden

    September 8: Rest Day
    September 9: 20 minute outside walk, 3 Mega Miles, 1 Walk Blaster
    September 10: 20 minute outside walk, 2 hours+ errands and grocery shopping
    September 11: 65 minute outside walk.
    September 12: 3 Mega Miles, 2 Walk Blasters, 1 hour yard/garden

    38.85 miles so far out of 87.5. I'm getting there ...

    I have started using the vivofit 3 and I have notices a surge in steps compared to just using my iPhone.
    If anyone wants to do further challenges though Garmin devices let me know.

    congrats to everyone so far you are all on your way to hitting your goals. :)

    Thanks @AnnofB! The walking I've got down, it's the strength workouts I moan and groan about and push thru each day. Oh man do I dislike those! I did a little research on some of the strength workouts you mentioned in your post and I noticed you mentioned using a kettlebell. Do you do any other workouts with a kettlebell? I've been using a HASfit workout where he does one move with an option for it, I use a small 4 lb. medicine ball instead. I've been wondering if I'd like using kettlebells for something different, but I am not very upper body strong since my car accident, I am still working on increasing weight.

    Anyone else use kettle bell workouts?

    Hi there. I am only using the one kettle bell workout I mentioned (Kelly Coffee-Meyer's) But, I have one by Gin Miller too. (Gin Miller's Calorie Burner Workout with Kettle Bells on Youtube) It came in the box with the kettle bell. It's a very good beginner workout. And until your post I had forgotten all about that one. :) I will have to get it out again as I'm getting tired of the other one. What I do like about the Kelly one is you get a nice ab work out with it.

    If you can, go to a sporting goods store and look at them. Maybe move up slowly from the 4 lb medicine ball to a 5 lb kettle bell? Be sure to try a lot of them. I bought a 7lb one on a whim and I don't like it because the handle is so small. Guess I have big hands, ha-ha. Anyway, the handle is the important part. My 10 lb one has a good sized handle. But it's more a matter of how the thing is built - I've seen some online that have a nice wide handle so, check out several to see how the handle does for you.

    HTH, and I hope you are having a great day! :)

    Hey Girls, I kind of went MIA. I was checking in but not posting because.... I just suck right now. I haven't gotten a workout in yet this entire month. Work got busy and then storms came through and my motivation went into hiding. I just haven't had the energy to even do a simple 15 minutes with Leslie. So with all that I've been trying to be extra careful with meals, watch portions and snacking on better options.

    If anyone sees my motivation send it back to Michigan.
