This is night 16 and my final day staying overnight at the nursing facility. My dad is coming home tomorrow. He still has difficulty putting weight on it but he has turned he corner and getting stronger each day. It was tough and I do believe we may have lost him had the pain not stopped or decreased. It will be nice for both of us to be home. On top of all that, I nearly lost my other pup to bloat a couple days ago. She drank too much water and started trying to throw up. I could see her expanding. I got a gas x pill in her since I did not have any Milanta. It worked. My hubby rushed home from nursing home and brought me some Milanta to keep on hand. Had I done this for Finny, we still might have him a little longer.1 -
@clepant - I can‘t imagine what it‘s like having to spend nights at the nursing home. I has to be exhausting. You have my sympathy.
On a different note. Gas-X works better than Milanta for stopping a bloat. Once the bloat has pinched off the esophagus, no medication can get to the stomach to help so it may not have worked for Finny. A trick a was taught 25 years ago for bloat is to hold their back against your chest while standing and give them a hard shake up and down. If you can straighten the esophagus you might be able to release enough of the gas that you can get a Gas-X down. It‘s a long shot but if that‘s all you have, try it.2 -

@Dean: I guess I hit the lottery and drew the right combination. I knew as soon as she started trying to throw up that she was bloating. I managed to get the gas x in right away and I could she her chest cavity going down and hear it breaking up inside. But thank you for the tip of standing them up. Worse case, it will be worth a try.
We waited for over three hours to get a wheelchair transport yesterday. My dad had some adjusting and he is going to have to work hard to come back as he has lost a lot of strength, but it is good to have him home. And not sleeping in a recliner ain’t bad either. I am still not functioning well due to sleep deprivation for so many days. All in good time.
Adding 20 mikes for Oct, 3-4 of which ten are walking miles and 10 are cycling miles.

Adding 1.5 miles. Had a sub instructor for HIIT this morning, she's another instructor at the gym, she has been making her 15 year old twin daughters come to these early morning classes, so you know that's not going over well. Today our warmup was two laps around the track. The studios are in the middle of the track. On the second lap around, I see the girls come out of one of the empty ones, run 1/4 of a lap just as we were ending our two. Points for creativity. Mom didn't even think about the fact that her running hating kids were some of the first to finish.
