Yes, have been all week Finally seeming to have my enjoyment back when swimming!
Monday: 2km
Tuesday: 2km
Wednesday: 3km
Thursday: 2.5km
Friday: 1 mile - with a speed trial for 1km. Got16:31 which is 30 seconds faster than ever before! But it was not fun on the last 250m and I did not feel graceful lol. Although looking at splits below, I wasn't as slow as I felt.
splits:
250m - 4:17 (4:17)
500m - 7:45 (3:28 - wowser! wish I had noticed what felt diff here!!)
750m - 12:12 (4:27 - obv tired from mental 250m before haha)
1000m - 16:31 (4:19)
Have no idea if those splits are good/what I should be aiming for with regards to the order of fast to slower - any advice greatly appreciated.
My vague plan is to try this once a week between my longer swims and to maybe add 2 lengths each time but keep timing just the 1km......until it gets to 1.25, 1.5 etc
I have NO clue how people can go faster than that for 10km solidly - I know really, practice practice practice, but wowser!! I was dead after that! (saw a lady with a time of 2hr28 for a 10km - with splits of around 14:45 for every km!)0 -

Finally found a great lap pool two years after relocating ! Addicted to music while swimming and the demise of ITunes made my Audioflood obsolete. Trying my Delphin with Spotify playlists for the first time today !
@dlmciver I have an iPod shuffle from Audioflood too. I checked with my brother (an Apple tech nerd) and he said that even though iTunes has been replaced, the device should still be compatible with iMusic. I have no idea how these things work, but when I see him over Thanksgiving, I'm going to check with him. For now, I still have all of my music and can charge it, I just don't know yet how to add more music to it. Don't give up hope yet! (Unless you were wanting to try something new...)1 -

60 min ocean swim today, about a mile, some current...0

Finally, a good long swim. While the pool was closed, I changed my workouts. I added a weight room day, so my swim mileage is going to go down. I went to class afterward and was surprised at how tired my legs were (for someone with such a weak kick!). But wow, what a great sleep!!1

The leaves have more than half fallen in Western Washington and mornings urge the Mercury near freezing. A four mile walk heats the core but neglects the gloved digits. Happily, the "y" pool has a hot tub to draw warmth to the nail beds.
My watch reset yesterday to factory defaults (old watch with an old battery) and slept on the nightstand after I awoke. Distance? Dunno. Time? Dunno.
Freestyle warm-up, back stroke things. Breaststroke--just enough. Butterfly drills and some full stroke 25's. Also a couple slow full stroke 25's of butterfly (gee, those felt good! Gotta do more!) Then out.
Yay.1 -
Just joined a pool with a gym. I went to water aerobics class for the first time last night. Tried to swim after, and I couldn’t. I thought it was like riding a bike. You never forget.
I’m sure I’ll be ok after a few more tries, but it was a shock!1 -
60 min ocean swim, a little over a mile, some current1

Today: 1 mile @ 55 minutes2

I swam. I felt like a barge going through cold molasses with only one blade on the prop. Eighteen strokes per length of freestyle. No power! Streamlined? Couldn't really tell--nobody to watch and say.
Fuggedaboudit. Move on to backstroke and fly. Better but I still wanna bolt an eye to a drone and see what I look like.
Cheers!0 -
I don't know the distance or time, but swam open water ocean in a light constant current... maybe 1km +, not sure... beautiful morning...2

After planting daffodil bulbs, the lap pool.
The temperature in the Aberdeen, WA "Y" felt good, Goldilocks good. The swimming thing: good freestyle but still 18 strokes per length. Down to 16 on some 25s, but it felt slower. Best not to think about it-just swim and enjoy the ride.
Backstroke: still felt sloppy and unsure. It may take 10,000 hours to feel proficient. No problem. If it takes 20,000 hours, I'm still in!
Fly: I reflect on how wiped out I'd felt when I tried to butterfly ages ago. I'm not fast, maybe moderate in speed but I don't feel like I'm flailing now. I know more how to do it than I ever thought I would. So much for me to learn and to love about swimming fly.
Cheers!ⁿ2 -

2250y yesterday. It was a slog. I wasn't there mentally or physically, but I told myself that "it's what I do" so I did.2

10.5km swim today. Furthest I have ever gone by 20 lengths! Whoop.
3hrs30 for the 10km. Then 20 cool down medley in 15 mins
Feeling good!!2 -
I don't normally time my swims, or always accurately distance them... but since others around me do (sometimes), I'll ask if we are together or swimming around the same time/place. Today, we swam from ocean lagoon to ocean lagoon, with walking in between (I wanted to jog but my friends did not). Total according to my friend's watch was 2.5 miles including the land walks... I don't know what the exact ocean distance/times were... but, it was a leisurely and relaxed pace. I went for the currents, they stayed inside. I love the currents and waves! Saw a big turtle munching away along some coral and so I hovered there in the break for a little while.1

Soooo consistent I remind myself about posting on this board sometimes. And seeing other people consistently posting helps me to remember that even though we're all over the place in terms of where we swim, there's always a swimming buddy out there who's doing it too.1 -
3km Monday and today
Plan is for another 1km tomorrow and maybe 2 or 3km Fri. Then trying for 11/12km on Saturday2 -

50 min before class last night. Not a long swim, but I'll take it. I'm feeling absolutely ZERO motivation these days, but my swims are all feeling good, so I just keep showing up and hoping that the idea of a swim will soon outshine the idea of going home and relaxing (and eating and drinking...). "Just keep swimming" is a real thing for me.2

A meandering warm-up swim through reef and surf, excellent clarity, plenty of fish!
And then a 1+ mile straight swim. I was tired today, but was able to complete it.0 -
11.5km on Saturday
think I may need to eat breakfast beforehand - or eat more carbs the night before. When I got to 11km I noticed a bit of shakiness.
Standard fuel atm is every 50mins/100 lengths have a SIS gel. I did take some chicken in my locker, but only ate a couple of bites as didn't feel hungry while doing the swim. Inhaled it afterwards haha
2.5km today - felt very tired, but glad I did it. I want to beat my swim mileage from last year, and it will be tight so I need to stick to my plan!1 -
Yesterday about 3,000 yards with Masters. Trying to get back into it after taking a break for some medical issues.1
