HOW IT ALL WORKS:
Each week, every challenger weighs in, and the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!
If you need a week off, a break, a change of weigh-in day - just ask your Captain here on your team chat page.
In addition to weight loss, there are F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. We have 3 different kinds of challenges. NONE is mandatory. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, though, so we hope to see you there often! Here they are:
Weekly Group Challenge - The six teams take turns to provide a Challenge for the entire group. These are posted Sundays in the Announcements area by the team assigned that particular week (see below). Everyone in the F2F Group as a whole is welcome to join in and get to know challengers from other teams. There is a new challenge every week, so you can try many new ideas.
F2F Moderators’ Challenge/Topic of the Week - The moderators also post a weekly challenge or topic in the announcements area. These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey.
Internal Team Challenges - Every team can run internal challenges - a step counting team, daily goals, weekly games or anything that can help keep everyone involved and on track. Your ideas are welcome - just post them here.
This Month’s Weekly Team Challenges will be provided by:
Week 1 – Team MISSION SLIMPOSSIBLES
Week 2 – Team TRIMSTONES
Week 3 – Team WEIGHT NO MORE
Week 4 – Team WAISTAWAYS
Week 5 – Team SHRINKING ASSETS
Note: If for some reason your team is unable to provide the weekly challenge please let us know ahead of time so another team can take your place or the moderators can provide the challenge.
Good Luck Teams: Please let us know if there is anything wrong or if you notice something that needs to be fixed or modified.
Let’s make our new challengers feel welcome and show them some F2F love!! Introduce yourselves, and let the new month begin.
THANKS! YOUR MODS

Welcome December one more month to go 20194

Hi everyone! Welcome back all returning team members! We do no have any new team members yet, but registration is still open, so we might. I am Lisa and am co-captain of the team with the lovely @sleepymom5. Our motivators are the amazing @nstephenson01 and @mrsbell8well. We will up a few guidelines shortly on daily check ins and weekly weigh ins.
I am from Toronto, Canada and live here with my husband and our boys ages 13 and 9. Just so that I sound like a total Canadian stereotype, you will hear me talk a lot about hockey as both of my boys play in competitive leagues, and we spend a lot of time in hockey arenas. I am a lawyer and after many years in the corporate world, I decided to work part time and set up a home practice a year ago. I love the flexibility that it gives me, and still am working on giving myself more time (it is a work in progress). I started with the team in January and have been recovering from a sciatica injury for most of the year. I am a weight fluctuator, and this year was no different when I lost, then regained due to reinjury, then have started losing again. I am breaking that cycle once and for all now working on mind and habits, in addition to nutrition and fitness. Intermittent fasting has helped me a lot this fall (it is really timed eating in my opinion) and love reading up on the latest research in this area. I am a runner, and am very close to being cleared to run again in a few weeks if I can continue to build my leg strength again.
How was my 2019?
Well, it was up and down, but in looking back, there was way more good. First off, I joined this team, and all of you have provided amazing support. I have also learned so much from everyone. I lost 10 lbs this year, and 20 lbs overall since I started on MFP in 2018. It is hard to believe that I am still recovering from my injury after almost 12 months, but sciatica is tricky. It has gotten me down at many points in the year. But I learned that I have more determination than I knew was possible, and now know that I can enjoy other forms of exercise other than running. I got a trainer, and love my workouts with her. Other than injury recovery, I got a clean bill of health in 2019 and am very happy to be focusing on healthy nutrition and a healthy lifestyle for me and my entire family. My boys keep growing and growing (funny how kids do that) and in spite of my complaining about our busy schedule, I love being their mom and wouldn’t have it any other way!
What am I thinking about for 2020?
I will figure out more by the end of December. If I can maintain or lose a few more lbs in December, I will have around 10 to 13 lbs left to lose in 2020 (my overall goal is a loss of 33 lbs, putting me at 135 lbs). This feels very doable, but I also want to continue my focus on my habits and mindset, so that I once and for all stop the fluctuation cycle. I really hope to get back to running in 2020, but again, it is a wait and see. My husband and I decided that we want to travel more, and we plan on continuing to do that next year too.
When I realized I lost 20 lbs overall, I was not as happy at first as I should have been as I started thinking about why I did not lose all 33 lbs this year. But for me, that is just not productive. 20 lbs is a lot, especially for my height and smaller frame. So I looked it up. I have attached few photos of what 20 lbs of fat (and other weights) look like. Pretty good loss right?

A few posting guidelines. We ask that you please check in daily or more if you please. But minimally daily. You can use whatever format (or not) that you like. Many of us here check in with the following format:
Check in for: Thursday
Logged food: yes, on track
Water: 64 oz
Steps or exercise: 10000 and 30 minutes of yoga
Now, our way to weigh in on weigh in day:
User ID: *
Week Number: Week *
Previous weight: *
Current weight: *
Please be sure to weigh in promptly. But if you can't and something comes up, just don't ignore it. Come here and explain and we will get you excused from the weigh in. You will see “insightful” marked on your weigh in post. This means that one of the Captains has recorded your weight on the spreadsheet. It is our system to make sure the other captain knows that the weight is recorded.
So come on in and introduce yourselves! Tell us about your 2019. It doesn’t have to be just about weight or achievements. If it was not a great year, we want to hear about that too and support you. Also, what is on your mind for 2020? We have been getting healthy together and are looking forward to continuing that journey with everyone!2 -
Hi Everyone! My name is Pam. I am one of the team's co captain along with @Cafelelia . Our team motivators are @Mrsbell8well and @nstephenson01 I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I have been married 28 years and have 5 children 28-19. I am a nurse but sorta retired at the moment. I am still trying to decide. I also am in PT for gluteus minimus and medius tears and also have been having some issues with my knees.
My story in a nutshell...I was never overweight, although I always thought I was fat growing up. I gained A TON of weight with my pregnancies and ended up at 221 lbs. Unfortunately that ended up being my heaviest even when I wasn't pregnant . At the end June of 2012 I decided I either had to get serious and lose weight or accept that I am obese and live my life. I got a fitbit and joined MFP on July 1, 2012. Since then, I have gained and lost 30 or more pounds a few times. I have never gotten back to that starting weight but have gotten close. Although I haven't been as successful with my weight loss as I would like, I have learned a lot. I eat so much healthier than I used to. I also am in good physical shape, I love to hike, walk, kayak and bike. Actually anything outdoors I usually enjoy. I do have a home gym in PA which has a bike, treadmill, elliptical, weights and a few other things. This winter I discovered the Leslie Sansone tapes which I also enjoy. I want to enjoy exercising and not have it be a chore. I am always looking for fun, new workouts.
As far as eating, that is where I struggle. I do eat healthy for the most part but I am now figuring out that I am eating too much. I am working on not eating unless I am hungry and to stop eating when I am satisfied. I listen to the Phit and Phat podcasts daily. The things they talk about really have hit home with me. Especially making small, doable changes. I have done so many restrictive diets and crazy exercise regimes and lost weight only to gain it all back when I just couldn't keep it up anymore. This time I am not making any changes that I am not willing to continue my whole life. It is really a lifestyle change. I totally get that now. The weight is coming off slower than I would like but it is coming off and that is what is important.
This team is more than just weighing in weekly. Checking in daily really helps keep me focused. I also learn a lot from everyone and also get support when I really need it. I was in a terrible slump most of 2018 and this team pulled me out and put me on a good path. The information that changed my thinking was from reading everyone else's successes and struggles. If I wasn't on this team, I wouldn't be where I am now. We are now getting into the holiday season, we need the support now more than ever! Let's have an awesome Holiday season!4 -
How was my 2019...I actually had a few physical injuries that I never experienced before. The winter into spring I had a shoulder injury that I went to PT for. I never thought that would go away but it did. Then my hip started and I am currently in PT for that. My knee has been an issue lately as well. It did take a big hit on my activity, especially walking. Other than that I have been working on my thoughts with eating which I have never done before. I am starting to really pay attention to my hunger cues and noticing when I am over eating. I am learning a lot about myself beyond eating too. I have never done any self development work and I am really surprised how far I have come. I wish I had done this years ago. Lol! Better late than never. Although I didn't have the best summer as far as weight loss, I did lose 15 pounds from November 2018 . 2019 didn't bring me any Grandchildren but I do have 2 "Grand" dogs. We had a beautiful wedding in November where we welcomed my lovely new daughter in law officially into the family . She actually has been part of the family for a while. Shannon will also be graduating college in December so that is exciting too. So like Lisa, a lot more good than bad so 2019 was a good year for me!
My thoughts for 2020...I want to keep doing what I am doing. Learning more about myself, developing healthy habits and getting most of this weight off for good. I have no doubt it will be for good this time. I also going to be patient with my body and PT. I am not going to focus on what I can't do. I am going to have to get creative on what I can do. I actually have started looking into indoor pools for the winter to swim and hopefully do water aerobics. I also am going to do slowly start challenging myself on the stationary bike and with strength training. Let's make 2020 our year!!5 -
Hi, I'm Linda, 50 and live in Michigan. I don't have kids but have 3 grown nephews who are married.
This will be my third month on this team. Thank you to all who have encouraged me! It has been helpful.
I have two great nieces, one who is almost 10 months old and one who is 3 weeks old.
I have had a weight issue most of my life and have lost and gained many pounds over the years. I have lost about 46 pounds since January of 2018 and probably have around 50 or so more to lose. I work with a trainer at my gym twice a week, he works me really hard, which is what I want. I'm much stronger now than when I started. He has given me workouts to do on my own when I'm not working with him. I usually give myself one rest day per week and weekends usually do some low intensity exercise at home.
I have support and accountability from my trainer and other people in my life but can always use more.
My goals for December are basically continuing from October.
Get in fruits and veggies and water. Would like to do the following everyday but know that's not realistic so I'm going for 4 days per week.
Fruit goal: 4
Veggie goals: 4
Water: 64 oz6 -

Can't even explain this loss! lol I spent 3 days away from home and my routine. We ate out once, we had "Steaks-giving", we went on a boat ride and I had a big cup of hot apple cider. I was hoping for even the smallest loss because I made the healthiest choices that were available to me (minus the cider!) Last week was my TOM, so maybe some of this is spillover from then. I have no idea!6 -

Check in for Saturday
Food logged and under (forgot to complete diary)
Water 64 oz
Exercise 30 min bike, strength, stretching and PT
Steps a little over 5K
Good day yesterday. I got back into my routine and got some stuff done around the house. I have been so tired lately but finally got a good nights sleep. I wasn't sleeping well around the wedding so I am hoping I am dragging because of that. I would like to start decorating but with this knee and hip I am dependent on others to get the stuff out of the attic. I don't like that at all. I can understand why the elderly can get a little ornery at times. So that's it. No real plans today but exercise and decorate. My house looks very pretty with the fall decorations and I still have 2 fresh fall flower arrangements from Thanksgiving but I am excited to get everything decorated for Christmas. I also want to make a plan for this time like I did with the wedding. I have a lot of things coming up and I want to be ready. Happy December everyone!
Congrats team Weight No More! We had an awesome month! Let's keep it going!!
@tryingagin5 I will let you know how I make out with the intervals . I guess December 1st is a good time to start.
@amytriesww WTG!! I guess you did even better than you had thought! Great job! You will be in onderland soon!
@Mrsbell8well What a fun day you have planned! Sunday funday! Enjoy!

Week 1 Challenge: Sharing is Caring Brought to you by team Mission Slimpossibles!!
Please post in your groups and pop over to the challenge thread and post there as well so we can all get to know each other better!!
Week One: Sharing Is Caring
SHARING SUNDAY
I joined Fat 2 Fit because I love the idea of challenges and working together as a group toward our goals. Being involved with my team Mission Slimpossibles has been so much fun and so motivating. I love how my team truly cares about each other and does their best to always be so supportive.1 -
Sharing Sunday
I joined Fat2Fit because I wanted to be a part of a group of people who were on the same journey that I'm on. The thing I like the most about it is that it's set up like a competition, but it never feels like one. Everyone is so supportive of each other and sometimes the support I get from this group is the one thing that keeps me on track.4 -
I joined F2F because I was looking for a challenge to motivate me and for a group of friendly people to share the journey. I appreciate that everyone shares their ups and downs, their good ideas and the ones that didn't work and everyone is very encouraging.3
-
I joined because of the extra accountability it is giving me. Reading about other's successes and struggles help me know that I'm not in this alone. The encouragement I get is great and I like helping others when they need encouragement. A lot of times when I post something to encourage someone else, I'm actually encouraging myself, so in reality. I'm helping both of us.4
-
Sunday 12/1 check in
Food: logged and on track
Water: 64 oz
Exercise: rest day (unless you count shoveling a couple of inches of wet, heavy snow)
I live in a condo complex, where they do take care of the snow but not always right away so I do shovel quite often. Of course, they came 10 minutes after I finished.🙄
I tried on a smaller pair of jeans. They kind of fit, if felt like they were a little tight to me. They were probably just fine but since I'm not used to wearing things that fit correctly, I thought they were too tight. I'm going to wait a week or two before wearing them so that I'm more comfortable with them.
I measured myself this morning. Last time I measured was in October. I lost 1 inch in my hips/abs and chest and 1/2 inch in my waist and thighs. There was no change in my other measurements.
My little mini-vacation is over, back to work tonight. Kind of sad to have to go back to work but am thankful that I have a job to go to and that I'm healthy and able to go to work.6 -
November review:
- I was traveling for the holiday weekend and don't have an actual weight for the last day of November (something that bothers my type A mind - lol) but my total weight loss for the month using the last day I weighed in November was 5.9 pounds. The most I have lost in one month for quite a while. It was partly due to persistent sickness. I also feel I have found a routine lately and have not been hungry, which helps so much.
- I have been working on cutting back on the Diet Coke I used to drink often to satisfy my hunger or need for something sweet without any calories. It was causing some gastritis. I have cut way back and it has been easy; my stomach is already thanking me.
- I have been working on not stress eating. My job is so very stressful and this month has been exceptionally so, but I have been making good progress at not eating or drinking Diet Coke in all those moments. This feels like a big win for me. Biggest win in a while.
- I made it through my birthday (11/24) and the several days of Thanksgiving celebrations (we had two formal meals over the weekend plus all the leftovers and in between family time) with out feeling stuffed or deprived. It was much easier this year to just relax and enjoy the time/meals without stressing about specifically what I was going to eat, but I felt satisfied too. I don't know yet what my weight will do, but that doesn't really matter to me. It happens a few times a year. If I gain two pounds over a few celebrations I can work it back down slowly over the month.
- I am now less than 5 pounds from my initial goal of a normal BMI. Not sure yet if this will be my final goal. It has been easy to lose lately so I will see what happens as I approach the goal. I may decide to lose more. I can't believe I am so close to my goal.
December goals:
- Lose 2 pounds (aim is 0.5 pounds a week)
- Eat more things I love that are within my calorie goals. I find this to have been a reason my eating has seemed so easy lately. I am truly eating things I love, they just also happen to be good choices for my calorie goals.
- Get back to yoga. So much sickness and extra work load and holiday travel has taken me from my regular practice lately and I can feel it in my stress levels. I hope to get back to twice a week for most of December.5 -
I joined this team because I loved the idea of checking in with a relatively stable group who were on a similar journey. It keeps my head in the game, inspires me, motivates me, and gives me great ideas to add to my own routines. It has been so much more than I expected. I was a little thrown off my the competition part since I am not competitive and not in a hurry on this journey, but I have found that part to be second to fellowship with others on this journey; which I love. Thanks team! Heres to a good last month of 2019.7
-
I am enjoying reading everyones reasons for joining F2F. I honestly can't remember why I joined Lol! I was looking for some challenges. I tried the biggest loser one and the teams I was put on never seemed to have much interaction, I tried the Harry Potter one which I loved but it was very time consuming so I couldn't keep it up and some how I happened upon F2F. I was on it for a few months and left because I was busy with something. Then I gained weight one summer at the shore and asked to come back. My old team was pretty much gone and I was put on this one. It was so different than the first time and I have learned so much being in this group. It has been life changing for me.
@CassieGetsFit2013 I saw you post on the main thread about WW. I know there are a few ladies on here who are successful on WW. Keep us posted what you decide.
@tryingagain5 I absolutely count shoveling snow as exercise! I bet if you left your jeans on longer you will feel comfortable. You know how as you wear them, they aren't as tight. You should try wearing them around when you are home and see if you feel more comfortable. Good luck at work tonight. I am sure you enjoyed your mini vacation!
@phoebe112476 What a successful month with all that was going on! I think it is awesome that you are able to cut back on something that had once got you through your hunger and cravings. That alone shows you how far you have come. How exciting you are so close to goal and a normal BMI. You have changed your life so much in the time we have known you here. That is what this is really all about!4 -

Hey everyone! I'm Casey and I first joined this amazing group in the last week of 2018, just in time to begin in January.
I'll be 43 in less than 2 weeks, and I'm a teacher, a wife and a mom. So far, I've lost 20 lbs since January. I would LOVE to lose another 20, but I'll settle for 10. I plateaued early in the summer, but to be honest, I haven't been motivated to actively change anything since June. I'll go through bouts of healthier eating, then implode. A lot has to do with depression and anxiety, but if I'm going to see any more progress, I have to make the conscious effort to take control again.
Since it's December 1 I decided to begin a 30 day yoga challenge to close out the year. I found an old Yoga with Adrienne playlist on You Tube, and just did day one. I also recorded everything I ate today. Gosh it was a lot. Mostly fat.
So my December goals are
record all food
do yoga each day
Check in here daily
Hopefully I'll have some good habits begun by the new year.
@cyndiesstuff I hope Overeaters Anonymous works well for you. Fingers crossed!7 -

Week 1
Weigh In Day: Sunday Dec 1
Previous Weight: 133.4
Today’s Weight: 131.5
Well, a bit of a loss, but I think it’s mostly due to stress lol - this past week was so busy!
I hope everyone had a great weekend! My goal for this week is to check-in here every night before bed, and to stop working by 6pm! Also to stay hydrated, because last week I did not drink enough water!5 -
@tryingagain5 - I 100% count shovelling snow as exercise! Good work!2

@sleepymom5
The snow I shoveled was pretty heavy so I guess I"ll call it exercise too.
You're right, I probably should have left the smaller jeans on longer. I"ll have do that when I'm home longer.
I did enjoy my mini vacation. Work was interesting last night. Not a lot of work and most of the machines weren't working. Apparently the power went out over the weekend and that caused part of the issue. The boss did find things for everyone to do so we all got our 8 hours in.
@twyla77
Two votes for shoveling snow as exercise.😃2 -
Sunday 12/1 check in
Food: logged and on track
Water: at least 80oz
Exercise: 30 min bike, PT, strength and stretching. A little over 4K steps.
We have flurries in Philly! The news is all over it, they are in every area in the region watching the light flurries coming down. They are talking possible early dismissals at schools. I just think of all of you who have real snow storms lol! Maybe we will get more later...
I had a weird day yesterday. I feel like like I didn't do well but I really did have a good day. I ate on plan except I had some shrimp, I exercised but didn't get a lot of steps in, I got my water in, I had a good nights sleep...I don't know why I feel that way. Oh well...moving on to today. I am going to get my exercise in first thing and then I am going to decorate. It takes me a few days to get it all done. Yesterday I took all the fall and Thanksgiving down. I also have to walk Charlie as he is back from the shore. Idk if I told you all but my son and his wife went to the shore for the week. They are doing a mediterranean cruise in the spring for their honeymoon. I hope I can get to Charlie with all this snow I hope everyone has a great day!
@GingerPwr I saw that you got right in there and started the yoga challenge! Great job! You have awesome goals for December that you can absolutely reach. I downloaded a habit app which is easy to use. It is called Habit Share. I think because you can share it with friends but you don't need to. You can even look back at the month and see your progress. It is pretty cool.
@twyla77 Nice loss! It doesn't look like you were eased back into your week after vacation. I hope this week is a little(or a lot) less stressful for you. I like your December goals too!
@tryingagain5 I am glad you got your 8 hours in. I know especially on nights it is better to be busy. Hopefully the night went quickly.2
