Wow, I just saw @Navydaddjtc post and am saddened to read that he is leaving us. I was looking forward to the new changes that he had said would be coming. :/ I don't have any real suggestions for you all going forward. I enjoy being a captain for my team and I think many of them get a lot out of having a place to come and post their weight, successes and struggles. I have wished that the Slimpossibles could be as active as the Fitness Warriors. If you look at the posting they blow the other teams out of the water. My suggestion would be to see what they do so very well and see if we can implement that for the other teams. Of course, the major posters leave the team then that won't help. ;)

I wish you all the best and if there is anything I can do, please let me know! :)

Thank you for the support! We are certainly going to keep going, and even find ways to get people posting more! But it also can be tough for busy people to keep up with hundreds of messages so we'll enjoy our teams' individuality and style. That said, I know that people who check in more often do better, so a large part of the captains' and motivators' role is to keep working on that. Finding internal challenges is one way, posting helpful links, sharing tips and recipes, and asking questions of teammates. That last one has always thrown up great participation and interesting results on several teams, I have seen.

One thing we are interested in discussing is the weekly challenge. It is great to mix teams together and to get to know one another. It is good to keep them optional for individuals. But I know sometimes they seem like a lot of extra work. There have been some fantastic successes in the past, but sometimes they start off then fizzle. What do you think works? Doesn't work?

I want to start a Google Doc with a running list of ideas for when teams need some inspiration, and this will be available for all captains and motivators to add to, comment on, etc. I'll keep it organised so things are easy to find. What else would be helpful? Should challenges run longer than one week? All thoughts on challenges welcome.

I wrote before that I'm not a fan of the weekly challenges. I do understand that different challenges appeal to different people and that is a good argument for a weekly challenges. However, it is hard to come up with a challenge that is user friendly for the entire group and doesn't end up being pretty much the same challenge with a different name.

The 5 for 90 challenge was a great idea and I still have several in my team participating in it. I admit to dropping the ball on promoting. I think that if I had, it would have had even more participation. I like the idea of doing monthly challenges that would center on a theme that would be fun and challenging.

I do like the idea of a spreadsheet for inspiration. :)

I would like to thank Greg for all he has done and to thank all of you for the efforts that you all put into the group. You all put amazing amounts of effort in and it can feel very unrewarding at times especially with the low activity levels at this time of year. If people feel the need to seek an alternative I wish them well and hope they finds what is missing, or miss what is annoying!

I'm intending to stay. Beka has been my inspiration and she is a very special person. In her tough times she always finds the right words for others and she deserves the same support in return. Love ya Beka, count me in

Good morning! Below is a post that was in my team and Jugar responded thinking it would be a good idea to do something going into the New Year. I do too! However, I am at a loss on how to take the simple tracker idea, which I've been doing for a few days now and love, to the entire group. All I can think of is to have a spreadsheet tracker that would keep track of everyone's habit list but how to make that user-friendly and motivating is still not clear to me. Maybe some of you would have a good idea to go into the New Year on how to make this work. :)

I was reading about tracking habits on James Clear website and he says...

Habit tracking is powerful for three reasons.

    1. It creates a visual cue that can remind you to act.
    2. It is motivating to see the progress you are making. You don't want to break your streak.
    3. It feels satisfying to record your success in the moment.

He also talked about how important it is to have a team where we can be accountable to each other. I think we have that covered! ;) I found lots of habit trackers on Google that you can download for free, which I'm going to do. But how to transfer it to here is the question I'm still wrestling with.

Let's try to include this in our new challenge structure for January! A lot of people are looking for us to find some good ways of tracking more than just weight, or using the challenges more wisely. If you have more ideas, post away! And @TeresaW1020 - a short summary on the Captains' chat thread (or email to me) would be great. Thanks!

Good morning captains! This week’s group challenge is brought to you by team Weight No More. It is a simple daily challenge about starting to define your 2020 goals and how to get there. The daily themes are posted on the Week 3 challenge thread.

I have posted the intro each team thread, and created a Week 3 Group Challenge thread with the daily themes. Here is the full challenge for the captains to see.

This could certainly be turned into a simple tracking spreadsheet for anyone who wants to give it a try. Let me come up with a few options (on the team sheets, one for everyone, a downloadable doc for people to use at home, etc.). Stay tuned!

    Hello Warriors!!!

As you are aware from prior posts, Greg et al (I’ll have to look up their names) will be starting a new venture in 2020 and will no longer be part of the Fat 2 Fit community.

We want to wish them much success on their upcoming endeavor.

For those of you that have made Fat 2 Fit your home and would like to remain, you are certainly more than welcome here! If you would like to remain with this challenge, please feel free to DM @beka3695 or @jugar.

@Beka3695 No problem Beka. My name is Sally @Fitness327wk and I am a Co-Captain on Fitness Warriors along with Sue @Shbarbor and our awesome Motivator Kai @ConfidentRaven whom have chosen to step away to start our own group with Greg as mentioned. It was a pleasure to support Fat 2 Fit! It also has been a great chapter as a Co-Captain of a good part this last year for Fitness Warriors! I want to extend my complete thanks 🙏 to Sue and Kai along with Greg of all your hard work!

Beka: I continue to wish you all the best as a Moderator and also a Captain on Fat 2 Fit!

We will have a smooth transition. We are all here in our free time to support one another and also help each other to lose weight and have a strong community!

Time to celebrate blessings with friends and family and our MFP family!

    Blessings,

    - Sally

Thanks Sally! I know that Becky and I certainly had no intention to rock any boats in your team - just trying to prepare for the transition. I want the Fitness Warriors to continue as strong as they have been - whether with you and your team in a new MFP group or here! You all have been doing great. The one thing we want to avoid is having the people who remain on F2F without new team leadership or unsure of what's next as we go into 2020.

We will make this work smoothly and celebrate all the good things as changes happen. Thanks for your support.

Absolutely! We all want a really smooth transition. 👍

    We support you all! 👏👏👏

During this transition if you have any questions, please let us know and as mentioned we will be here, the four of us Greg, Sue, Kai and myself until the 4th of January to close out the year.

Sorry @Beka3695 You never got to know me. I am Sally.

    I regret this, too!

As @jugar said above - we did not mean to rock the boat, we just wanted to know who was staying so we could prepare for the change.

Also, I apologize for this portion of my post … Greg et al (I’ll have to look up their names)
I was intending to look up your leadership before posting, but was sidetracked by something else and had a MOM moment...

Hello captains! Following up on the possibility of habit tracking as suggested above by @TeresaW1020

I have made a version of a tracking spreadsheet we could all use. It is simple, but there are a few options. The example I'll share with you shortly is the option 1 version.
    1. all teams on one spreadsheet, with new tab each month, players grouped by team but all together
    2. each team with its own tab (like the weigh-in spreadsheet)
    3. new tabs added to current weigh-in spreadsheet
    4. NO spreadsheet. Just provide a printable PDF to all teams that people can use as they wish.
    • The first way is the simplest. Captains would go in and click the check boxes as members checked in. OR everyone who signs up could have access to click their own check boxes. I would enter the names and give them permission to edit. Once it is set up every month, it would be pretty hands-free.
    • The second way might be needed if there are a lot of people participating. But it is more fun to see everyone on one page.
    • The third way would mean only going to one place to edit, but it would mean only captains could do it. It would also make the spreadsheet very crowded. I like this less, but it would mean one less spreadsheet to go visit at least.
I'll send you all an invite to look at the simple version I have made.

Hi @jugar, Really like your spreadsheet and thanks to @teresaW1020 for coming up with this. We don’t track daily habits/goals on our team, other than food/exercise or steps/water. I don’t mind everyone being together on one sheet, and that might be nice for cross-team communication. My vote would be for people to track their own habits as this may become too much for captains, depending upon how many people participate. But no big deal whichever way that goes. I really like this idea.

@jugar, I LOVE the spreadsheet!! <3 Seeing all the teams on the same sheet will be motivating and fun for us all. I do think that it would be more beneficial to have each member fill out their own habits on the spreadsheet. It will be a great visual as well as an important aspect to keep them accountable and committed to themselves and their team.

I don’t want to enter their habits because it would be very time consuming and will take away time that I need to be spending in interacting with them in a more meaningful way than nagging them to post their habits. I have done that with the step challenges and would like to avoid it with this new venture. If members want to be a part of this then they need to commit to it and make it their own.

I would keep the number of habits that the members can track fairly low. Perhaps only 3 to 5 so that they don’t get overwhelmed. There needs to be some kind of commitment to the habit tracker, or they need to get dropped off the spreadsheet. The captains can help with the monitoring of their teams and keep conversations and gentle reminders going in their groups.

Again, I really like this idea and hope it can work out for us all. :)

Trying to find the new sample spreadsheet you mentioned and I'm not sure where to look. I even looked on the current Dec spreadsheet to see if you started a new sample one...let me know where to find it please. Can't comment until I see it.

@jugar Please move @Julie8468 to the support team on Team Weight No More. She just answered my message and said she had a death in the family but would like to come back in January.

@jugar @Beka3695 I like the habit tracker. I actually have a habit app on my phone and it is very motivating. I would like everyone to have access so they can track their own habits though.

@sleepymom5 What is the app? I was telling Liselyn that I have habits that I want to track that are not health related - so this might work better for me :)

Just goes to show we need to work on our communication skills!! I am going to make a kind of orientation page for captains and make sure all the new ones get it, so we won't have this kind of problem. Not everyone goes around clicking on everything!

@Beka3695 It is called HabitShare because you can share with others if you want to. You don't have to. I love it. Very simple to use. It is really nice to get an overview of the month too...
    @jugar Thank you! :)
