Positive things in our lives!

Positives from my trip:
I was reminded that I do not like eating that much food again. Seems like that lesson slowly fades over time so these minor excursions into mass quantities of food benefits me 2 ways.
It was my first (ever I think) vacation that included deliberate exercise and I really believe it added to my enjoyment. II got out each morning before everyone else to get it done. I felt great afterwards and annoyed my traveling companions with my early morning energy. It was a definite role reversal because usually they are the "fizzy" ones and I sit around.
It also cemented what I believed to be true. I do not like having my minimum exercise goal in front of me. I rather get that part done early and do more if feel like it. One day my knee was bothering me forcing me to quit and I needed to get 5 more minutes to finish. It nagged at me all day until I got it done. I have always been the kind of person that likes to get any unpleasantness out of the way first. Let's face it. Even if you like the kind of exercise you are doing there are days it still feels unpleasant especially when it is a personal requirement. After I meet my minimum goal I often enjoy doing more but that first 30 minutes is the hardest for some reason.6 -
Had a really nice day with my youngest son today. Went out of town to visit him as he's in the middle of a big training block. It was a gorgeous day so after he took me through a weights session at his gym we went to the beach. He still had some HIIT sessions, a ghosting session and a solo to do, so I went for a long walk. We then had dinner on the beach. So I managed 15,233 steps, did some weights and had a game of squash. We are both missing his brother who headed to Washington DC today from the UK. Counting down the days until he's home. Got the news yesterday that he's going back to England in Feb, semi-permanently, so still digesting that!1

@maiomaio71 the recap of your day sounded just wonderful to me because it included family, activity, time for reflection and just felt balanced. Good for you. I am learning to "count the days" as I have one son currently deployed to the far corners of the world and one that will begin his off-site training for his new job as a Game Warden, so I'll be missing two sons for an extended period of time. Hugs to you!2 -
I posted in the grumble page so I need to post here. I have a flight on Sunday. I am still going to be larger than most people but I should feel a lot more comfortable than I did for my last flight at the end of August. I was in a tight size 20W jeans then and this time I'm going to be wearing size 18 (US) jeans. Four and a half hours won't fly by (no pun intended) being at this size but I'm sure being over 30 pounds smaller will help...it sure won't hurt.9

I think you'll notice a difference!

I get to watch my son play for his country as a senior for the first time tomorrow! Streamed, as we couldn't afford to go to DC, but very proud! Hopefully it's the first game of many for NZ.2

Positives from yesterday
I did not have a great day yesterday in terms of meeting my goals, it was by no means terrible but I let bad habits get the best of me, instead of dwelling on them I decided I would reflect on some of the differences between now and 2016- I went to the deli for lunch today, as one of yesterday's bad habit was to spend most of the evening curled up on the sofa instead of making my lunch. The positive though is that this time 3 years ago my sandwich would have been a huge crusty white baguette (think 2 people's sandwiches size) with mayo, coleslaw, chicken and crispy bacon. These day's it's brown doorstop, a little red cabbage slaw, grated carrot, spinach, no mayo and plain chicken. I also didn't buy any crisps or chocolate to go with it.
- Today is our company Christmas Jumper Day for a local charity, I have looked back over the photos from previous years and although in 2017 I was super slim compared to now, there is a marked improvement still in comparison to 2016, luckily because I am active and have a progressive lifting routine (more often than not) and have taken up rowing, even though I've regained the weight I lost 3 years ago, the composition of my body has changed for the better.
- I've stopped using binges as an excuse to give up on myself. It used to be a case of restrict, restrict, restrict, binge, see water weight on the scale, give up and then wallow for a month or so and start all over again. Even though I still slip up I come back every day and try to do better

I had two flights this past week. My flight out was very open, no rows had middle seats occupied. My flight back was fully booked. I was in size 18 jeans and fit in the seat without a huge amount of discomfort and feeling the person next to me (eg me spilling over onto their seat).
Also I realized one of my interview for the job I start in January was back on Sept 6. I started this on Sept 8 so my 256 weight was who he met. I will be at or near 215 when I start in January. I am curious if he'll notice. It's a lot of weight but I'm not sure it's noticable weight.
Lastly, I put this on another page but so what - I found the love of my life. It was instant and mutual and we are thrilled and super at ease.
Crazy two weeks.3 -

30th Dec
> My lovely OH sorted out my bike tyre for me and so I was able to get out for a cycle this evening, only as far as the supermarket, but after a week of lazier days aside from a tiny bit of yoga and 1 row it was nice to be active.
> I reviewed my first week of my binge eating self help program and found that I did pretty well, well enough to move onto the next step1 -
It's NY Eve here. Hope everyone had a good Christmas, and here's to a new year of calorie counting, friendship, support and weightloss. Looking forward to success, new learnings and slow and steady loss.2

Today I made a list of all the things I accomplished in 2019 and the new experiences that I had. It was a pretty long list and made me happy. I also made a list of what I wanted to accomplish in 2020 from a professional, health, fitness, and personal basis. For the longest time I abandoned the concept of setting specific and obtainable goals to motivate and focus my attentions. I did that this past year and it has really helped both in keeping me motivated and in giving me purpose, which I desperately need. If you have not been setting goals, I encourage you to do so, especially if you are struggling. Just make sure they are doable and aren't too rigid and are not difficult to achieve. Here's to a productive 2020!4

So as I put in the doom thread, yesterday the cookies won. Or rather I thought they had when I posted, but I logged them and worked the rest of my day around them. I had them in the morning so I eneded up counting them as breakfast since I wasn't hungry until lunch time. I wouldn't do this all the time, but I am happy that I pulled it out of the fire and didn't allow it to become an all day binge.6

Really enjoying being back at home after 3 weeks away. Feel so much more in control, which makes everything so much easier. Have walked every day (only 3 days, but still!) and haven't eaten any meat yet! After 3 weeks of meat at every main meal (other than my one vegetarian curry) it's been great to get back to my own cooking.
Heading up to see my boys for a day sometime this week so cooking up a storm for them. They are training hard and appreciate not having to cook whenever possible. Bring on 2020!3 -
Walking late in the evening with the sun at such an angle that it elongates your shadow and makes you look thin!2
