Opening for the day. What are peoples plans for new year?
For me, nothing planned. Likely early night so I can get up early and enjoy a calm morning while most of the world sleeps.
December 29
Exercised?: Yes (5 km in 40 mins - hills)
Calories?: Yes
Tracked?: Yes
Warm today. Mainly resting injured leg, but still went walking. Can tell it's not 100%, but it has improved since yesterday. Likely was a pinched nerve instead of a strain.
Lacking all motivation today. Took a lot of willpower to start walk, but 10 minutes in finally felt OK.7 -
I saw this online and thought of Craig and all of us who are parents. You might think, but how's this related to the UAC. For me it is, I put my needs last after my family. I can be rushing around getting them to swimming, ballet, etc lessons, out for fresh air, fed healthily etc but then not get round to this for myself which is a catch 22 as ultimately they benefit from me being at my fittest and healthiest too so working this out for 2020 is a top priority for me!10 -
Sorry your leg is still bad @craigo3154 - hope continues to improve.
I saw a news article about the Sydney New Year's fireworks and how lots of people are calling for them to be cancelled due to the ongoing fires. Hope you're safe where you are.
With a 3 year old and 6 month old my plans are truely rock n roll - staying home and asleep before midnight! But we're meeting family for a New Year's Day celebration instead!7 -

It looks like vertigo is on it's way out again. I feel lucky it only lasted 5 days this time rather than the 2 weeks in August. I'm heading to PT in the morning and back to the gym by Tuesday. What a relief!!!
Exercise: Yes, 25 minutes hip therapy at home and a 20 min dog walk
Calories: Yes, left a couple hundred unused but did have my appetite back today
Logged: Yes, logged it all
Only 2 days left and I feel pretty confident that I'll make it to the Winner's Circle!5 -
New Year's plans? Honestly, I'm just hoping to put the injuries and vertigo behind me and get back to the gym 4 days a week and hopefully some long hikes. I'll walk Penny Lane (my almost 9 year old poochie) too but she's starting to feel the effects of arthritis so we don't go as far as we used to.
Otherwise, just staying healthy and fit so I can keep traveling to SF, MT and CO to visit my kids and grandkids! CO and MT include lots of hiking too!
Hope you all have an amazing year!
I need to try to keep up with this little guy as long as I can............LOL8 -
Hello all! Went to a nice fancy smancy Italian restaurant after shopping and I had to estimate some of the calories as accurately as possible. I even had a half a biscotti and gelato ice cream 🍨. I earned 500+ calories of cardio this morning. Tracker says I still can eat 400+ net calories. But I KNOW that EVERYTHING is a guesstimate including nutritional values and exercise calories so I’m going to take a nice relaxing walk to cover all the guesswork!
I want this x3!
It will be another x3 day today.

Just a thought. Even if some of us don’t make it to the winner’s circle, the fact that we are here every day is a testimony of our will and determination. 👙 💪
Have a successful day tomorrow.6 -
We see in the new year quietly, with a healthy home cooked dinner and a bottle of Prosecco. We like to watch the London Fireworks Display on TV, toast the New Year, then go to bed. New Year's Day tradition is to meet up with family for a walk somewhere, weather permitting.
Still hanging on to my one pass and fully intend to be in the Winners Circle.
20+ Exercise: Yes! Walking, physio

Exercise? Yes 30 minute walk along a river plus a visit to a museum. About 7k steps today.
Within my calorie goal? Just barely!
Tracked everything? Indubitably!
As a child, my siblings and I developed our own New Year's Eve traditions. We always built a jigsaw puzzle, ate pot pies, watched what was on TV (usually "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World"), and often played games or raced slot cars. At Midnight, we would go outside to make lots of noise. There was also something to do with bringing in a new lump of coal (good luck?).
We continued most of these traditions (minus lots of noise and the lump of coal -- plus, of course, in the modern world, we get to choose what's on the TV), with our own child. Said child, now grown, considers this celebration the greatest and comes with their spouse every year to our house. Hopefully, their spouse doesn't resent it!

@am_change. Thank you. At times it does really feel like this.
The thing that is often forgotten is that you need to take some time to take care of you so you have capacity to give. This is continually being raised to me and my wife by health professionals dealing with my daughter. It's known as carers fatigue which can lead to caregiver burnout.
Fortunately this morning my leg is feeling much better. After yesterdays rest then walk, I can now lift it from a seated position without having to manhandle it. Good thing about being mostly physically healthy is that I heal most physical injuries to a usable stage pretty quickly.
(I also have a very high pain tolerance and can easily "forget" I am injured making it easy to re-injure something damaged).
For me, one of my top priorities for 2020 is taking care of me (and my wife). I will be seeking professional assistance for my own bouts of depression.

...
I hope they don't. People need diversions and some time away from everything else going on.
Safe form fire where I am at the moment, but the forecast for this summer is not good and I do live next to a forest. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

@craigo3154 Thanks for opening today’s discussion and post page. Yesterday, Rose & I began our travel by car from our home near Chicago, Illinois, USA to Phoenix, Arizona. Our first stop was a visit with my frail and failing step-father in central Illinois. We stayed at the home of a 77 year old aunt who is being victimized by a professional group of financial thieves who have successfully scammed her. From the information that I have seen, she has lost at least $200,000. Her internet was disabled by one of my relatives who is an accountant. That is why I was not able to communicate with the group yesterday.
I am now involved with this mess as both a nephew and an attorney. It appears that my Aunt has lost her capacity to handle her financial affairs. This is an area of the law in which I am considered to be a specialist. My Aunt’s mess is now my mess too.9 -
Rose & I expect to reach our condo in Phoenix by January 1. New Year’s Eve is known for its celebratory dining and dancing. For many years, Rose & I have not greeted the new year while partying. As usual, we will probably already be asleep when the fireworks are launched into the skies.

Qualified for December Winner’s’ Circle: not even close!4 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? 30 minutes of barre strength this morning -- all hips and glute work.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes and under
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yep!
My hubby and I met on NYE, so New Year's is a special day for us. We always go out on NYE -- this year we'll be going to our favorite karaoke spot, which is always a ton of fun.6 -
Yes x 33

I finally got some exercise in with a walk with house mate before work, however it backfired as by day 7 of work I was exhausted and didn't have energy to track. I didn't eat too badly so should be within range.
Work in crazy season is over. I need to show my face on Tuesday but don't need to stay long and there are plenty other staff back from holiday so it shouldn't be tough.
New Year plans involve early dinner out with the family. Brother driving home on the first so he wants early bed. I may go visit nieces etc if they do anything otherwise I'm sure my housemate and I can do something fun together at home. I don't like driving then because of the crazies on the roads.4 -
@RangerRickL So sorry to hear about your aunt. Your family is fortunate to have you to handle the situation.
@am_change Lovely artwork, thanks for sharing it
@fitlulu16 Love the charming photo. He's a precious boy.
@craigo3154 Good that your leg is better.
What are my plans for new year? Like @Impala007, I'll be working. I crave quiet time for myself, when I can get it, so I'll pass on the celebration. Another day around the sun.
Yes x3 today for exercise, calories, and tracking.

Yes x3 today, I almost didn't make it but went down to the elliptical for 45 mins after I got my kids to bed
NYE plans, just saw a post saying "I'm still trying to decide what to wear to my couch on New Year's eve" and that's pretty much my plansWith Christmas and husband's birthday in the same week, we are partied out by NY!

Yes x 3
With 3 children under 5 and on a road trip (Jan 2, we have a 7 hour drive across the Island), we will be sleeping in and no alcohol either!
Ranger - it's such a shame how they target the old and frail! Hope she can recoup some of the lost money back (probably not but one can hope!)3 -
NYE plans working then hopefully an early night then off to Cromer UK for a walk on the beach & the fireworks display new years day
Exercise yes 10 min quigong, 20 min yoga, 120 min walk around Ickworth park UK
Tracking no, Calories probably ok2 -
3 x’s yes.
We do something different most years for NYE. This year I’m headed to Saratoga NY for a few days to celebrate NYE. It’s a big celebration with dozens of venues hosting bands, comedians and a variety of performers. Everything is walking distance from our hotel. NYE starts with fireworks and a 5k and will end with a laser light show.
The weather is supposed to be a little rough with a wintery mix but we’ll make the best of it.
Starting our getaway today, have massages booked upon arrival!
Happy New Year’s everyone. Looking forward to kicking some serious but in January.3 -
Another pass day for me. I did well until son's friends came over for pizza. 'Nuf said!3
