Hello!! I’m happy to be “back on the train” even if it hasn’t necessarily left the station. I have been obese for a lifetime but lost 100+ lbs five years ago through lifestyle changes and diligently using MFP.
Over the last five years, life has turned upside down and my weight settles right back where it was 5’ 10” and 290 lbs.
It’s a terrible feeling due to physical pain exacerbated by weight, and the shame and embarrassment of failing.
However, I know for certain that it CAN be done, because I’ve done it before!
I keep an open diary, feel free to friend me and/or comment

Hey there! I’m Krista. I’ve had this app for around a year or so but haven’t made much use of it until now. I got a premium account to help encourage me to stay motivated, and I’m joining this group because I need to learn weight management in the form of self control. I’m well educated on dietary needs but when it comes to actually eating, my brain just shuts off. I’m now a wrestler on my schools team, so I can’t be gaining weight anymore. This is the year I correct my habits before going off the deep end! I’m about 155 lbs and have a two month goal of 145. From there I want to maintain my weight and focus on gaining muscle in place of fat. Let’s do this!5

This is my first time to join a challenge like this and I'm looking forward to the accountability. Good luck everyone!5

First timer here! I like this as I know that setting a weight loss goal will either depress me if I don't reach it, or depress me if I do as I'll feel I should have worked harder. I just have no idea how weight loss is going to work for me. So just keeping to those goals and targets, exercising, not overeating, and being accountable is the way forward!5

Newbie here, I am excited about joining this group. I need more accountability, to keep me on track.8

I've been a MFP member for 8 years, have commented here and there on message threads, but am so excited to find this accountability group. I've found over the last year or so it is hard to keep myself motivated, so now that the holidays are over it's time to get back on my game and I hope this group will be the kick in the pants I need!8

First timer and ready to break the barriers!6

I’m new to this challenge. The exercise is going to be the greatest challenge for me. At this point I’m not doing any exercise, so I’m planning to change all that starting January 1.
Good luck everyone!8 -
Firstly thank you so much to @RangerRickL for setting this up!
First timer here - just discovered the community section. I lost 58kg/128lbs almost a decade ago aaaaand almost eight years later I was back up and more to a sprinkle over 350lbs.
I'm casually back down to ~275lbs after two years of not trying very hard to do very much - which was an interesting discovery a couple of weeks ago. I figured if I put some effort in, I may be back to where I was, preferably prior to turning 40! Yes I have just given myself three and a half years, it's a low benchmark it's true.
Good luck everyone!9 -
Hi, I’m a 41 yo 5ft 8 - mom and wife. I love fitness and run 20-30 miles a week, but have found since 40 I have this really stubborn 5-7 pounds that I can’t get off. I love to cook, eat relatively healthy but I think that I’m going to have to really cut back on portions and wine. My goal this year is to be back to 140. I’m at 149 now. I feel like I just need to be consistent with tracking.11

Hello and welcome new and old. A veteran UACer here (my first challenge was in 2016!). I first joined to lose baby weight and after another baby 6 months ago am trying to lose baby weight yet again. I know from past experience that the UAC can get me there. Looking forward to January and a new decade! May 2020 be healthy and happy for us all!6

Hi All! Was in this specific group in the past for a couple of months last year. Never made it to the Winner's Circle, but I still learned a lot. Exercising is not my issue as much as sticking to my calorie allotment. I plan to do this group for one month and hopefully make it to the Winner's Circle this time.

I everyone, I'm back for my second round and think I'll be making the Winner's Circle in December. I even lost a few lbs between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I've been here at MFP since September of 2013 and lost 45 lbs the first year and another 15 over the next two years. I was part of this group in the past and it really helped me stay focused.
I've had a rough 2019 with injuries and fighting vertigo 3 times...............uggghhh but I'm determined to stay fit. At 69 I really need to work hard at it.........LOL
I'm basically in maintenance mode but do fluctuate up and down 5 to 10 lbs. I was on the higher side of maintenance until I joined here and now I'm back to the lower end of where I feel comfortable.
I enjoy lifting weights, walking with my dog Penny Lane, hiking and swimming in the summer. Right now I'm going to PT for my right hip, hoping to prevent replacement so that's been a challenge but I think I'm ready to start walking again!
Good luck to all of you!5 -
Hey y'all,
My name is Tanya and I'm a newbie here. I used to play sports and I'm trying to get my sports body back. As well as, take care of my health.5 -
New to the group. Trying to lose 40+ pound after gaining it all due to medications I was taking. Can’t wait for the accountability!8

Good morning! I'm new to this challenge, although not new to MFP. I like this challenge because it focuses on habits, not results. And that matches well with what I'm focusing on right now.
My name is Jessica. I'm 41. I work a desk job from home. My goal is to increase my heart health through healthy eating, daily exercise, and long term weight loss and keeping it off!
Looking forward to the journey!10 -
Welcome to all the newcomers! It's so great to see so many people dedicating themselves to better habits and health.
I'm Kai and I've been with UAC since July and have made it into the Winner's Circle for every month except December. I found myself getting a bit off track with calories and tracking during my diet break this month. However, I'm now ready to refocus and work toward getting to my ulitmate goal weight.11
