WELCOME to all walkers!

Oh my, June is here already :o !! It seems unbelievable that we are almost halfway through the year. It is time to start a another new monthly challenge! Summer will soon be here B) which means there will be more opportunities for outdoor walking. Perhaps some of us might even discover new places to walk!

This group is open to any and all walkers. Many of us use Leslie Sansone as well as other favorite instructor's walking or workout DVDs, as well as those great walks or hikes outside on the trails or pathways that are available to us, or a walk in our neighborhood, or on the treadmill. All of these many options count toward our miles, steps, or minutes.

However you get your walk in, come on in and join us! Whenever you are posting what you have accomplished please remember to also share any strength training or other types of workouts that you are doing. We all benefit greatly by learning from one another and getting new ideas.

We are a happy, supportive group, and I promise that joining this walk challenge will motivate, challenge, as well as inspire you!

The goal that you choose is your own personal goal for this month 👟📅.

If you find this group in the middle of the month it doesn't matter which day of the month that you join in. Just set your goals to reflect what you hope to accomplish during the remaining days of this month. It is never too late to join in :) , you are always welcome!

I know that we are always excited to see our long time faithful walking friends o:) join us for yet another amazing month together, and we are certainly always awaiting the opportunity to welcome newcomers to this month's Walk Challenge!

And now... let us lace up those walking shoes 👟 and get our water 🧊🥤... and walk, walk, walk into sunny June 🌻☀ !

Sure, I'm in. Less of Leslie, though and more of outdoors.

New to the group this month (but not new to Leslie's walks). She brings joy and happiness to my exercise life (especially in winter when I can't or won't go outside in freezing cold temperatures!). I hope to exercise walk 5 days a week most weeks but I'd like to get at least 7,500 steps in my normal day on my "non-walk" days cause I have a tendency to couch potato if I'm not formally exercising. I mix my steps up with long walks and short walks, fast walks and slower walks.

Whether I'm inside or outside, officially walking or just doing my daily steps, I hope to check-in here at least 5 days weekly!

At 5:30 pm last night I had less than 1000 steps for the day. The state of the nation had me down. So I connected with Leslie and just started moving in my living room til I hit 10,000 steps (who knew how powerful the feel of those silly fireworks would be on my wrist when I bought the fitbit last year?). This morning I STARTED my day outside with a 30 minute walk and 3,000 steps and I'm committed to the hourly movement today to hit those 10,000 steps before 5pm!

I hope everyone else is clearing their minds and hearts with walks today too.

Going for 2 strength workouts a week. Other days doing some form of aerobics, be it a walking workout or gardening.

6/1.....2 miles of Burn To the Beat
6/2.....WATP Walk Strong and the Get Started Mile of 3 Fast & Fun Miles

Walk Strong was really tough! But fun too.

I hit 7600 steps before bed last night and I was ok with that. I also devoted some time to hip and ankle PT exercises from youtube since those hurt during some of my speed work. Wednesday is my weekly rest day- it's just too much of a chore to have something else to do on Wednesdays! My goal today is not to walk but I'm hoping I can browse around on youtube or netflix a bit and find a yoga/easy stretch to help my body heal in preparation for a long walk tomorrow!

    Hi Beverly,

It's a series of walks that Leslie came up with waaaay back in the day. These workouts are from around 2001 :) ( Old but still good.) It stands for Walk Away the Pounds. Lot's of good workouts. My favorite of these is WAPT, Express: The 4 Mile Super Challenge.
    Have a great day!

Last month I re-up-ed my membership with "Get healthy U". They won by giving me a deal for $13 for a year with more access. I did their 2 Mile Endurance walk. All the same moves as Leslie but it was a fast pace. I was sweaty good afterwards.

My June goal: This month I started doing Leslie walks on the rebounder, aiming to give myself a really low impact walk, and see if I can do this or not. I can not go as fast as the DVD, but every step will help me.

June 1: 60 minutes porch plants & garden
June 2: WATP express 1 mile (YouTube), 30 minutes yard/garden
June 3: 1 mile Heart Healthy (YouTube), 30 minutes yard/garden

Thanks so much Ann. I did WATP 4 miles challenge this AM ( June 4) and loved it. I had been trying to increase my mileage and was doing 4 fast miles, but my knees hurt after doing. This morning my exercise was just as good for my heart, I was panting at times and the heart rate was up, my ‘back end’ (as Leslie says) really felt it and my knees were good. I really need the backend worked as I am one of those women with no bum and a noticeable belly- I call it the prediabetic body👀. I am definitely adding this to the weeks rotation. 🙏 B

So glad you loved the 4 mile super challenge. :) I had forgotten about Leslie being offended by gluteous maximus. Lol.

With all the workouts and the daily 12,000 + steps, that belly will be slim and toned in no time. Well done!

Ugh! When you accidentally hit "pause" on your fitness tracker and it misses the 7 minutes of the workout. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I did Jessica Smith's 1 Mile Belly Buns and Thighs walk but only got "credit for 10 mins of exercise. My exercise ring did count the full amount so it is kind of ok. I'll just need to swing in some yoga or something to get credit for my monthly challenge.

Well, it finally happened, June 4th and I got sunburned. I went over to check out and talk to the neighbor about their masses garden and we talked outside for like an hour. Ooppss, 🤣 I'd do it again cause it was a great talk.

We're looking forward to a promising weekend of good weather but I just saw that we may have a small heatwave to start next week. Also good to look ahead so I can plan for what type of workout to get.

@bacpath, you're doing amazing! Look at all of those steps every day 🏃‍♀️. I'm also glad that you liked the WATP Express series 4 Mile Super Challenge! It is one of my all time favorites! I like every mile in the WATP Express series.

@Deeder522, yes, the heat waves and summer are definitely up and coming. Garden talks between neighbors are fun!

@AnnofB, Leslie taking offense with the gluteous maximus always cracked me up . There is another word she won't say, this is when she always talks about "juice in the joints" :grumble: . I tell her that it is actually called synovial fluid :noway: .
You've got a fabulous start to the month already!!

@mypinkbikini, 8 miles 🏃‍♀️ outside in the muggy sun! Way to go! I also love my rest days 💖 .

@wtbarunner, starting out the month great!

    @shefali230673, enjoy those outdoor activities!

12k steps everyday is total #GOALS

This is 1 of my 2 hard weeks every month. I work really long shifts everyday and it's a struggle to get my 7500 steps at work. I don't like to force myself up early to walk before work because sleeping in as much as I can before a 13 hr day at the hospital is important to me. I will commit to walking until I hit my step goal after work to hit my 7500 a day or going out for an early walk if I'm naturally awake before my alarm (though thats pretty rare). Today I noticed I'm back in the habit of using the elevator sometimes at work when I could be getting extra steps on stairs and I need to be sure to keep getting up and moving every hour for a few minutes if I've been inactive. Committed to my 7500 a day this week anyway I can.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

@mypinkbikini, I understand what you are saying. I worked all sort of shifts in the hospital back in the day, including the 12+ hour ones also. Take care of yourself and sleep well!
