Hi all,
@nstephenson01 - eek, that weather sounds nasty, hope you weren't blown away on your walk! I've been feeling that way this week too, maybe it's too much quarantine catching up
@Mrsbell8well - thank you sharing your journals (and they're so pretty and colourful!), think I will def give that a try.
@Freeglerock - the little losses totally add up! Plus if it's TOTM related you might see a higher drop next week. I also only just realised that in addition to being fellow Brits we're also really close in weight - virtual twinsies?
So, am not back at work yet. They didn't bother coming back to me so I didn't bother going in I'm still working from home and they have been emailing me all week so I shall assume that means they're ok with this lol. I would say I'm surprised but it's fairly typical for the management organisation for the company. We're expecting a government announcement tomorrow though and it's looking like we're going to be moving to the next 'phase' so probably have to look at going back in the next few weeks at least. Going to try and make the most of being home while I can and get some outstanding cleaning tasks done.
Food has been pretty good, treated myself to some 'chippy chips' on Monday but apart from that have stuck to healthy choices. Still not doing much exercise so need to get my butt in gear!5 -
@podperson1 Way to take a stand! I like your style. I was thinking about you yesterday when I spoke to a woman in the neighbourhood who I was two meters behind in a lineup at a vegetable market who was complaining about waiting in line. She said she will not eat take out from a restaurant but takes the subway. She said it would be like eating at a buffet. I'm the opposite. I don't want to take the subway or other provincial transit for a very long time. I feel like convertibles should see an uptick in sales.2

Week 3?
PW: 198.4
CW: 201.0
+ 2.6
My own fault. I know what I'm doing and not doing. Not much exercise and too much food, (some healthy, some not so healthy)
My goals/plan for the week didn't happen. Way past time for me to get my butt back in gear.9 -
Monday check in
Food: 14:10 IF. Had a good talking to myself while on my hike about getting my act together so it was a better day food wise
Water: Good
Steps & Exercise:17,766 steps; 3.5 mile hike with the dogs
I played a little game with myself Monday morning... I was hungry but still had 45 minutes left on my fast. A corner of the garden has been taken over by weeds but I kept procrastinating. I I told myself to get busy and pull all the weeds in 45 minutes. It took me an hour but it finally got done. Yes, I guess I rewarded myself with food which I know I shouldn't do but it was my planned breakfast of a banana and greek yogurt with granola and berries, not a cheat meal and now the weeds are gone! Lame, huh? The things we do to ourselves.
Tuesday check in
Food: 16:8 IF. Pre-logged and ate on plan
Water: OK
Steps & Exercise: 15,948 steps; 1 hour walk around the neighborhood. I kept thinking it would start raining and didn't want to venture too far from the house so just meandered down various roads. It was rather relaxing. Oh and my neighbor told me she had seen a bear where I had hiked on Monday so I was being a bit of a wimp by staying on the main roads. I wasn't in the mood for bear encounters. Hope to hike tomorrow when this rain blows out of here. I'll feel more courageous tomorrow
@melaniedscott Great food suggestions!! We're big fans of spicy food also. @sleepymom5 I always recommend, when trying a new food, going with someone who is familiar with the cuisine. The only way I ever managed to try sushi was with a good friend who knew my tastes. Now I love sushi! It less scary that way LOL5 -

Nancy, I think the weeding work and then breakfast was a great strategy. Not lame at all.2 -
@nstephenson01 It think if you found a way to complete your fast and stay productive, you've had a definite win and it's not lame at all!

Not much, but it's still progress. We're going on a little vacation in July, and I want to lose a few pounds to give myself "vacation room."

Hi all!
This day has CERTAINLY sucked!! 😥 I woke up in a depressed state, so I skipped my TMS treatment. The sweet technician, Danielle messaged me to see why I didn't come in and asked if I was okay. I had a crappy weigh in on Sunday and NOW TOM just hit me today...🙄 I under ate yesterday, my back has been killing me, ws well as my knees and hips. I thought it was period related, and some of it might be, but now I feel as if it also has to do with my sciatic nerve because it definitely feels like that nerve pinching and pulling in my lower back, butt, hips and down into my legs. Ugh! 😫 I had bought a heating pad a month ago and never used it til the other day...Well, I put it on high and laid on it and ended up giving myself, "sunburn", lol. Then I read that you aren't supposed to lay on it...Then HOW else do you get it to work good on your back?? Haven't been able to get out in the garden because it's been raining for the past THREE days! There are floods all over town, lots of closed streets and the garden/yard is definitely flooded. There's at least 6-8" of standing water in the garden and other parts of the backyard. The plants are okay though because this year they are in raised beds. They're getting pretty wild though so I really hope the raib let's up soon so I can get out there and get some things done! Mom said it's supposed to be in the 80's on Friday and then 90 on Saturday and Sunday so we'll see! Also, there is a cute little froggy that has been living in the garden for the past 2 months now and sometimes he likes to get into our unfilled above ground pool and swim in the rain water then he climbs out, using his sticky little toes! 🐸 Hmmm, what else...Well, I have an appointment with my Dr. To go over a few things thats been going on with me lately. Hopefully we are able to solve some things! I see her on the 24th and I see my Psychiatrist on the 22nd. I really feel like skipping that Psych appointment though! I'm not sure how much the TMS treatments have really been helping...I think going into it, I had hope for like all these interests to come flooding back to me, but in reality, I think all it's done so far is maybe given me a little more drive, on some days...Like I have been pushing a bit more or forcing myself to move around more. Then again some days are still bad and I don't hardly move, so I don't know...🤷♀️🙃5 -
Daily check in Wednesday
Food-felt like I ate too much but on reflection it was almost all very nourishing except maybe the chocolate salted caramel oat milk ice cream after dinner.
@gingerpwr I had bought edamame noodles but not tried them till you mentioned them. I made too much. Last night I used the leftovers. Added marinated sprouted tofu, green onion, carrot, sesame oil, tamari sauce, sesame seeds and a sprinkle of chili crunch oil. I was going for a quickie cold sesame noodle salad. It was delicious!
Water probably 60 oz.
exercise-yoga 20
Sleep-8 hours
Had my chiro/acupuncture session yesterday. Left me dragging the rest of the day. Thought I was going to skip dinner but really wanted to eat. Did grocery shopping after work. Making yellow summer squash curry soup and a blueberry tart for a new mom.
Update on transfer. Have not heard anything further. Using this time to finish up all projects at home and work.
Glad to have this extra time to be productive and to relax.
Have a good day everyone!3 -

Check in: Weds 17th
Food: logged and under
Water: ok
Exercise: 30min HIIT cardio, 30min dance
Yesterday food and exercise were all to plan, except the dance which I added on as my steps for the day were less than 5k. Working from home really does result in a lot of not moving! Dinner was a cheese Soufflè, so most of the rest of the day was just fruit and veg to accommodate its high calories.
Lots of rain here at the moment, and a couple of thunderstorms in the last 2 days. Very good for the allotment, things really do benefit from rainwater rather than from the tap, but would like it to let up a little bit so I can take kids for a walk (they refuse to walk in the rain at the moment because of the intermittent storms and fear of lightening (their Dad was struck by lightening a few years back - he was ok, just a bit shocked!)).

Weigh in week: Week 3
Weigh in day: Thursday
Previous weight: 150.2
Today's weight: 149.9
Yay! Now to stay here.
According to my Fitbit and Aria scale, I started at 177.4 in Jan '18 and got to 148.9 in Nov '18. Then maintained for over a year. One year ago, I started this 10 lb up and down roller coaster. I'm back at this weight for the third time now.
My goal from the start has been to get to a toned 142 lb. The difference this time is that I am getting toned. So, hopefully this will be more motivating and I'll get the last 7.9 lbs off.
This is scary territory now though. Until I master it, it's like a jynx.
Since I'm doing modified HIIT to avoid using my foot, I can't jump or do push-ups or planks from my toes. My arms and upper body are really improving and so are my quads. I didn't used to think doing upper body from your knees would work but it does. I feel like I got a new set of arms for the summer. LOL
Here's my list of goals for June, which I posted on my week one weigh-in. I'm adding a new one at the bottom:- Stay with Thu/Sat 1,700 and Sun/Mon/Tue/Wed/Fri 1,000 calorie base (DID all 3 weeks)
- Eat half or fewer exercise calories (DID every day except 2)
- Sleep on a regular schedule and for 8 hours (DID first 2 weeks, not this week)
- At some point this month, increase from 2 to 3 HIIT/Bootcamp live sessions per week (DONE, now at 3 per week)
- At some point this month, maintain 16:8 fasting which I'm just about at (MOSTLY between 16:8 and 14:10)
- When broken toe feels better (it's only been 10 days), add cycling back in. (NOT able to do. Probably next month as it seems to be a bad break.)
- Get to 30 lbs lost/147.4 lb two weeks from now. I'm not sure if that's the 5th week in our June chat or the 1st week in our July chat, but something that I believe is possible and challenging at the same time.

Wednesday check in
Food: didn't log and probably over
Water: Good
Exercise: over a 60 min walk
I just haven't felt motivated lately and the scale is going to show it tomorrow. I am doing well with exercise but not eating. I am doing well during the day but by dinner I am lazy and just eat whatever. I have slipped a bit with planning and need to get back on track.
@podperson01 I am glad that you are still able to work from home for now at least. Hopefully your company will be a little more communicative with a plan for you to come back with the next phase. This is such uncharted territory. I am glad that you are doing well with eating through all of this. Remember, little changes add up so even a little exercise will make a difference. You got this!!
@1theresamcvean Nice loss! Goodbye 150s!! I feel like this time you are in a different mindset and you have been toning all along. I think you are going to end up at your goal weight and toned like you plan to be. You are not going to be losing like you did since you are getting so close. Stick to your goals and don't worry about the scale. How exciting that you are so close. You got this my friend!!
@tryingagain5 It is not too late to turn things around. Set some obtainable goals for this week. Maybe some more healthy crock pot meals? Maybe do a more strenuous work out 1 time this week? Start where you are at now, not at where you were or where you think you should be. You can do this!
@nstephenson01 Nice loss! I think weeding as a distraction to finish up you IF was a great idea! Plus, you got that weeding done-win-win!! Be careful hiking around with Bears around! Sounds like you have been doing great since you had that little talking to with yourself!
@GingerPwr Scale is still going down plus I am sure you have other non scale indicators of how much progress you are making.
@CassieGetsFit2013 Hope things start looking up soon. I would keep all of your appointments. You actually seem to be doing well with those treatments. You have been losing. The gain this week was probably due to your TOM. I also wouldn't cancel your psych appointment. I would use every tool you have available to help make things better. I hope the rain lets up so you can get out into the garden. If I remember correctly, you love to garden. Sending hugs!
@ProfDawnLee Hang in there! I know things are super busy for your career wise right now and it is hard to balance everything. I think the toddler plates are a great idea. I actually know that is a tip many people use to help with portion sizes. You can do this!
@Mrsbell8well. Another great day! You are doing wonderful!
@brown6267 Fantastic!!
@freeglerock You are doing so well. I love how you balanced out that cheese Soufflè for dinner with veggies the rest of the day. I also LOVE using dancing to up your steps for the day! Great job!!

Rain rain go away so I can get a walk in 🙄3

@Freeglerock Great idea planning for the souffle. I'm considering that for lemon poppy seed loaf, cake, or mini muffins. I have some poppy seeds that I need to use before they become stale and then I received six lemons instead of two in my grocery delivery this week.
@Mrsbell8well I took a rule out of your playbook on Sunday and made two loaves of banana bread, one for my son's family and the other for my neighbours. I didn't even have a bite. I'm thinking of something similar for the lemon poppy seed creation but would like a taste.1 -
@nstephenson01 Great loss! I thought about your weeding strategy and yesterday I did something similar. Yesterday afternoon, I bought Wendy a croissant sandwich at a Korean bubble tea shop. She loves croissants but didn't like the idea of it with chicken, ham, and veggies. So, I took it apart, weighed the ingredients, then ate it myself ~ before supper. I realized this could be a disaster the day before I weigh-in. I looked at the time. It was 5:15 and had about 15 minutes to hustle to the garden centre with my wagon before it was to late to get in line and go in. I walked fast for 15 minutes to get there, making sure to pull the wagon with my dominant hand so that my Fitbit would track all my steps. I picked up some plants and hurried back with a full wagon. I didn't feel crazy at all because of your weeding trick.1
-
@sleepymom5 Thanks for the advice. I think toning up could be rewarding enough to keep me from worrying too much about the scale. I know it will be slow because it's the last 7.9 pounds (I said 7.9 because I wanted to see the 7) and I'm building muscle. I mean, not like a man, but muscle weighs more than fat. I still have a flabby layer over the muscle in some places. But not my arms ~ even the bat wings have flown away.1

Hi all,
@1theresamcvean - thanks, I was hoping I wasn't coming across as 'awkward' as I am very bad at not sticking up for myself and just trying to please people, but when it's mine and my loved ones health I felt it was important. I agree it's strange how some people seem to focus on totally different things to me - I've got takeaway a few times and with increased hygiene measures and contact-free delivery I felt quite safe doing it, but the buses are another matter! Great goals for the month and am sure you will get there soon.
@CassieGetsFit2013 - you are having a rubbish week *hugs* I hope you don't have sciatic pain, I had a really bad bout a couple of years ago and was probably the worse pain I've ever had, could barely move for weeks I would try and make your appointments if you can - maybe you could focus your psych appointment on how you've been feeling lately and if they can offer any additional help? I'm very much the same in that my depression tends to zap all my interest/motivation in the things I used to enjoy and it makes me really sad - I'm trying to get out of it but it's a slow process so if the TMS is even making a small difference it might be worth sticking with it x
@ProfDawnLee - I totally use side plates or little bowls if I'm trying to watch my portions so not weird at all (if I had toddler plates would be using them as they tend to be cuter colours as well lol). If it works for you then it's all good!
Bit stressed out today, am not sleeping well so I suppose one of the benefits of working from home is that I can catch up on some stuff at 5am instead of staring at the walls Food has been ok, exercise has been rubbish. We've moving into 'phase 2' here in Scotland, so looks like some shops and business will be opening again before the end of the month. They've also made masks compulsory on public transport, which does make me feel a little better about taking it. I'm supposed to be having an online consultation with a new counsellor next week, which I'm very nervous about, but hopefully she can help me to move forward some.
On a brighter note though - tried on my old size 16 jeans and they fit!! Wore them to the grocery store just to prove it lol.6
