Paula I think she is doing a lot better. She does tend to be confused a lot. But that is ok as far as I am concerned. Steady as she goes. I am a patient person. Now where is her new will I drew up? :*;) She is joking some now also. A good sign.

Karen that would drive me nuts. Not knowing is a bad place to be in. Fingers crossed for you.

Chris I dropped it into the flames!

I am at work today. We had our first major glitched in the video court since Covid. It failed. I didn't get the small fridge closed good yesterday. SO it worked over time trying to stay cold. A soda blew up in it! What a mess. Joey is already acting better now that he is on meds for his ear infection. Poor little boy. I did cut all the other dogs ear hair shorter. They look so cute. Then trimmed up Coopers tail hair and cut my finger a tiny bit. Good thing the scisssors were dull! The Trumpet Vines are taking off on the new gazebo. Rocky got a hog from the butcher yesterday. Gave each of our kids 2.5 brown paper bags full of frozen meat. I am such a bleeding heart. All I could think about was what would that hog be doing if he was still alive. Busy couple of days.

I was snacking on cashews with my coffee today. Logging everything just now revealed that I've already had breakfast, lunch and dinner, oops. Logging sure helps capture calories, sneaky devils that they are.

Paula that so made me giggle. Misery loves company for sure.

I am still spending a lot of my free time caring for my mom. She really cracks me up at times.

Let’s not talk about snacking. Why do I love townhouse crackers and nuts and chips so much? I guess it’s the salt. I’m going to have to keep them out of my house. The other day I picked up watermelon, plums, nectarines and grapes.

It’s been so hot here in Georgia as well. I’ve been walking at 7:00 in the morning to beat the heat. I don’t sleep so it’s easy for me to get up and get it in.

    Take care ladies!

Yep, salt and oil. I think oil (fats) get a bad rap. My body says I need them, and water, and protein. And that's okay.

But it's the tastebuds that continue to want more after the body is satiated. They need to be tamed. I just have to consciously remember that waiting won't hurt, in fact absence makes things taste better.

    (I didn't say the "s" word @KAR1959 does that count? :)).

Kathy, Paula is trying to be sneaky again. We buy lots of fruit. There are lots of different melons out right now. I fill my fridge and counters with them. Boy are they in the way of those things that must remain nameless! One of my favorite melons after watermelon is canary melon. So sweet!

This upcoming week will be bad for me. Sitting all day in court during trial. :#

I am trying to be good...down four pounds from July 27th...got a long way to go. Not buying triggers. Made my Go To Chicken/Bean soup. It will help me get back down. ugh!

Working out w/Pete plus we start walking in the morning...that should help.

Ugh, 179.5; will have to scramble to avoid the 18X's.

Working out building shelves last two days. It's really hot today, even here by the ocean. Tank tops and warm glow weather. (Referring to that shimmering glow you get from working out; but the sunset's pretty too.)

Too much sitting around watching the painters. Hopefully they will be done by mid- week so I can get back to a routine. But I’m happy with the loss. Out of the 190s in sight. And I feel less bloated. Stay away from the salty snacks!

As you can see my kitchen is currently yellow. I’m going for more subtle, calming and modern with my stainless steel appliances. I want a shade of gray but having a hard time making a decision. I’m leaning towards the lighter shade. The first one on the left. I’ve narrowed this down to 4 from maybe 10. :D They are very patient with me. What do you ladies think?

    Hi Kathy,

I like the lightest shade too. The others feel pretty dark for a whole room unless you wanted to do an accent wall in a darker shade? We did a cream room with a taupe accent wall and really like it.

Surprised my weight didn't go down after yesterday's sauna weather (hot hot hot and muggy!) and shelf-building / box-toting workout. Maybe it's muscle, LOL! :noway:

Anyway, in it for the long haul. Short term fluctuations will not long-term goals ruin, noppity nope nope.

Lift those shelves! Tote those boxes!
    • Build shelves in back room for storage
    • Move stuff to storage from garage
    • Empty garage to create safe haven for car
Must have protection from pine cones! It's a very strange world out there folks...

    Paula love your smile! :)

Kathy I am trying to remember something about paints. Do they look lighter or darker on a large area? And was thinking if you are keeping the light colored chair then maybe the second one from the left will look better next to the chair. Move the chair closer to the samples. B)

My mom had a rough day. Very tired all day. If she does not look better in the morning I will call her doctor.

I have not been doing as good as I should. I need to stop being a helicopter daughter.

I like the lighter shade, too.

It is 109 degrees here today!! At 5:00 in the evening. It never cooled down last night. We are planning to walk at 5:00 a.m. After our morning stroll, we head over to the kids for my 7:30 workout w/SIL and maybe bring home R&B. Don't know that last part yet. The kids are having carpet guys come in and measure for new carpeting...they don't know what time yet. Tomorrow will be busy. Today has been nothing.

95 degrees here on the coast, Chris, and muggy! Did that storm hit you the last couple days?

Well, a couple days ago I hit the 180's again, oh dear. And my feet were swollen like elephantiasis (that really is a thing) - which unsettling because they haven't done that since I was much heavier; and I don't know if it's weight or heart-related.

I finished the shelves and now need to stack boxes. I'm getting distracted with sorting and labeling their contents. Finding things that were missing since people packed them for us to move three years ago. Derek's still missing some stuff. We don't know if it got left in the landslide, or we just haven't uncovered it yet.

Kathy I do believe the lighter shade wins. And you can always go darker later! <3

Chris 109 is crazy! We have been in the 90's most of the summer. But have not hit 100! Nopey hope nope! I hope you were able to get in your walk.

Paula if you haven't recently gone to your doctor maybe now is a good time. If you are having trouble finding stuff now a stroke won't help. My mom is having a hard time with that. She also can't recall reading the last 3 books of a series she read right before her stroke.

Trial will be in full swing tomorrow. I hate sitting all day. Took my mom shopping for pants. She has put on weight. Needed some pants. Her eating is getting better though.

And there is a smelly skunk outside. Grrr

Okay so they started painting the walls yesterday and they will be repainting today. :D The lighter color just didn’t work for me. All I could see was a hint of blue of green and I really want to see gray. Byron (my very patient painter) put a second coat on one of the walls to see if it would make a difference it did not. He went to lunch and we went back to looking at samples on the wall and I decided to go with #2 from the original samples. It’s a little darker and I think will work. My kitchen gets a lot of sunshine and I believe the color will work.

Byron said he could tell I didn’t have a “warm and fuzzy” and he saw me doing a lot of walking and looking at the walls as he was working. He wants his clients to be happy because “I have to live with my choice.” It was his suggestion to stop and put the second coat on only one wall that way if I wanted to change colors it wouldn’t cost as much. I called my mother and told her how I was feeling and she told me to go with my instincts and don’t worry about the cost. So that’s what I did. Going to cost me an additional $300 but I think it will be worth it...fingers crossed. :)

Shelley I’m getting a new kitchen table and chairs. A nephews has claimed the old one. I cantell you the cabinets, trim and baseboards look great! So another day for the new paint then cabinet doors with new hinges and door pulls will be reinstalled on Wednesday.

Thanks for listening ladies! It’s 6:10 am est and I’m getting up to get a walk in before the painters come this morning. Working on reorganizing my office as they work. Also, we have an official move in date for my parents...October 1. :D

    Kathy.

We had a skunk last night too, Shelley, maybe it goes to my house for supper and yours for breakfast?

Kathy, your gut is always right, congratulations on going for it.

I've been eating way under my limit (900 instead of 1400/day) and working like crazy the last couple days, but am hitting a plateau. Waiting for that nice feeling when the scales say it breaks.

The painter finished the walls yesterday with the new gray color called Silent Night. Exactly the color I wanted. Can’t wait to see the cabinets. He’s bringing them Saturday. Here’s a picture. Sorry I don’t know how to make them smaller. :D My kitchen gets a lot of sunlight so the color works. I’m happy!!!

    Very pretty, Kathy!

We have only had one skunk here in eight years but see them in the road on the way to Sara's all the time...don't run over them or you'll be very sorry.

Had R&B for the morning. Ronan is such a kick. Sara is working w/him on his pre-school stuff, and he is just screaming through it. Always wanting more and more to do. So smart!

Still on a weight plateau. In the despicable 180's.

The fires are five miles away, we're watching the ridge of the mountains. Did I miss something? Has the apocalypse begun?

    The room looks beautiful, Kathy.

    Best wishes to you all,

Kathy I love it. And the nephew you have the dining set to should paint his the same color. It looks fabulous next to those chairs. Hate to say I told you so......But doing it anyway. Told you so... Bwahaha...And the $300 is well spent. Remember I changed my guest bathroom only a year after painting it. Didn't cost me quite as much. But then I painted it myself and the space was much smaller. Oh this is going to be a focal point in your home. And love the teapot nightlight. Your new photo says it all! Oh and the matching light pull. Almost missed that. So fun! B)

Paula that is one fast skunk! We get them quite a bit. But since we have a fence they stay out. I am ready for the apocalypse. I think I might come watch it from your home. Careful with such a low calorie intake. Hard to maintain. But I do that at times also. And probably will when my mom goes home. I have to join the YMCA. They have some classes I want to try. o:)

Chris I ran over a dead skunk in the night once. Yeeesh, took a few car washed to get that smell to be bearable! So raunchy.

Took my mom for her follow-up. She needs to follow up with a doctor at home and get an ultrasound on her arm. Her memory is bad. Has good times and bad ones. She took Saturday mornings medication out of her pill pack sometime today. First time she has done that. She has no recollection of doing it. So those have to be moved also.

Got done with a trial today. So hopefully tomorrow will be normal.

Kathy - Now I see the pictures! I love how color! Looks beautiful!

Is it Friday yet ladies? Work is killing me this week. Took next week off for "vacation" to spend with Bella. Lots of appointments and other things. We do have a few days where we are considering day trips....we will see what it brings.

    Have a great Thursday!

No walking today...up at 4:00 a.m...opened windows...EGADS!! terrible smoke everywhere from the fires...can't even breathe out there!! When you can't even see Mt. Diablo you know it's bad. Open a door and the smoke just takes over...ugh! Pat's brother lives really close to the latest fire. Haven't heard if he has to evacuate, yet.

Sorry, Karen, it is not Friday, yet! Have fun with Bella next week.

Going to the kid's for dinner to celebrate our daughter's birthday. Where did those 36 years go?

Well, my plateau finally broke. 178.5 today.

No surprise because they gave us an evacuation preparation warning yesterday. It didn't feel urgent, but we started packing anyway. I have a rock collection. Got all of it in my car and boy is it riding low. Finished packing my car at 5am. Good thing though, they evacuated us today.

We've booked motel rooms. Used to be empty because of Covid, but now overtime I turn around someone I know from lLa Honda is checking in. Had a burger and fries for dinner... Life on the road during the Covid19/Fire apocalypse,

    Paula
