Weigh in day: Saturday
PW: 205

I stayed on track today! Despite our healthy dinner not working out (meat was bought from a local butcher 5 days ago and was no longer fresh). Plan B was Wendy's, but aside from the zero nutritional value, it wasn't bad calorically. I lost 30 lbs last year eating fast food several times a week, and know how to order. Feeling more confident about the rest of the weekend after getting through today. Hope you all had a good day as well!3

@trooworld I'm so sorry to hear about your pain and doctor, it's so frustrating not to be heard. I think so many times when we come in with complaints even if they're legit doctors don't understand how severe it can be unless they've gone through it themselves. It takes a rare, empathetic doctor to truly care and that's hit or miss.
Saturday check-in
Exercise- arm cardio, meditation
Calories- right at
Water- good
I spent most the day doing what was supposed to be a short amount of homework, my brain is so fried between that and pain I have the giggles. I have to dive back in because after I devoured the last class and loved it I discovered I was supposed to have done a workbook to turn in for all the work I just did and didn't save, grr! Cutting back my workouts to improve my pain but no luck so far.4 -
Weigh in Apple852hk
Week 1 - Sept 2020 Sunday
PW 137.7lbs (62.5kg)
CW 136.9lbs (62.1kg)
Lost - just. Been hovering the same weight but as I took a long 10mile (4hr) walk yesterday it meant I lost some weight.
Ate lots of carbs, including a fish and chip lunch also sushi lunch this week.
Ate lots of chocolate on Monday but not the rest of the week. I just wanted the sweet taste and didn't enjoy eating chocolate that's real cocoa.
My tummy feels less unsettled as I'd not been eating restaurant food this week.
It's my birthday tomorrow. My goal is to not over eat as usually I see food and eating a treat. Instead I'll just have a coffee. But its hard to resist treats. I want to bug sone fudge at the seaside trip tomorrow
GOALS
1. Eat mackerel and broccoli every dinner
2. Walk every afternoon for 30 mins before dinner

Sunday check in
Well - yesterday I pulled a @katmary71 and wrote a long post only to lose it!! Argh! And was having a bit of a bad day anyway and struggling to feel in a decent mood so, probably ok. =>
Friday, Saturday and today have been progressively better, managing fewer calories and more in a losing than a maintenance range so that's good - and doing that steadily downward so I don't feel deprived or shocked in the system by it (baby steps, even on day 199,830 of the weight loss journey, or at least how it feels!). Sleep has been better for several nights in a row, at least 7 hours - I do feel livelier! Water stands pretty steady at the bare minimum of 8 glasses a day. It's the minimum so I need to be ok with and if not - raise the minimum. How wishy-washy to make the target and be not satisfied! Weird!
Congrats to everyone who remained in the green and those who lost weight! @BethB554 @vegan4lyfe2012 and @GabiV125 you guys are ROCKIN' it with the dedication of your goals and plans!! And there are so many life instances for everyone - sending especially good vibes to @BethB554's daughter for health and inner peace. You guys are showing us what it looks like to NOT EAT our way through tough times. We know it has not been easy but so worth it... =>
@TeresaW1020 wow girl, you are really moving that needle, too! So proud of you in your dedication and steadfast resolve to find *the* way, find *YOUR* way! We are right here on the side lines cheering you on!
@katmary71 and @trooworld I am thinking of you guys and sending the virtual hugs and SlimsVibes for getting through some tough health challenges...
@Hilogirl2018 so awesome and amazing that you wrangled your day....while it was still the same day! Can you talk a little about what your strategies were to be on/stay on track on a day when it feel like you were holding up a 500 pound wall...? I know, not your words, but you really did a great job in facing and conquering when you knew ahead of time that it was going to be difficult.
@jazzagirl30 @davors19 and @digger61 yay, what great weigh ins, guys - keep at it, you're doing well and adding to the overall goal! =>
@cornanda thinking about you, Lady, hang in there and see what small steps you can take tomorrow to inch your way to getting back to productive habits.
@Apple852hk this may not have been as much as you wanted but you're headed in the right direction! And I'm wondering - is there a way for you to make chocolate an every day thing? It seems important to you and I wonder if it's possible to just fit it into the daily plan and allow the energy of *not eating chocolate* go in a different direction...? Call me woohoo and crazy, I'm just thinking out loud!3 -
Just dropped in to catch up and didn't realize I never gave my weigh-in this week...Sorry Tribe!!
I'll get it in first thing Tuesday. I remember popping in Tuesday night while here at work and I guess I didn't type a darn thing and got distracted. I didn't lose or gain but I was able to actually go to Planet Fitness and workout for a couple hours Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. I'm looking for a loss for my WW weigh-in tomorrow.
I'll do better, promise!!
I hope everyone in the US has a lovely Labor Day tomorrow. I hope everyone had a great weekend!2 -
Hilogirl2018 wrote: »Hi all! I'm finally caught up on the intro posts and ready to do my own. I'm hilogirl2018, I'm 40 and I'm trying to the lose 20 pounds I already lost last year. Guess when and how I regained it? Yep, during quarantine, when I insensibly ate anything I wanted, all day long. I actually lost a total of 30 pounds last year, so at least I'm rejoining MFP before the last 10 creeped back on.
I'm disappointed in myself BUT trying to be gentle because it's a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic, and while that doesn't give me license to free range snack all day (as I've regrettably discovered), it does mean I can forgive myself for not handling the stress perfectly.
So back to what works:
(1) IF with a 12-8 window
(2) logging calories
(3) daily accountability check-ins
(4) rooting for others sharing the same goals (which is why I joined this group).
(5) daily weigh-ins
Turns out 3/5 of my proven successful strategies involve MFP! I don't work out because I have some mobility issues, but I am going to try to start fitting in some toning this time around.
Excited to jump in here and get to know you all!
Hi, your post is a summary of my current position. I picked up ±14kg (±30lb) during our lockdown period. I managed to loose 4kg again, but I am struggling to get back to my pre-covid life/routine. I will hold your hand if you, and all the other members on this group, could please kick my butt into shape4 -

Weight loss not really due to my efforts, but accepted and welcomed anyway

Ony managed to exercise 1 day last week. Hope to get back into the swing of things from today onwards.4 -

It's been a busy start to the month. I met and exceeded last month's swimming goal. I wanted to average 49 minutes a day, and I averaged 52 even though I missed 8 days. I have set a new goal for this month: an average of an hour a day. This weekend I've done 1:33, 2:03, and 1:20 because I missed some time earlier in the week because of weather and because my daughter had her senior photos. I'm hoping that the weather holds and lets me keep things up for the rest of the month.
I've also started PT for my shoulder. That's going ok. I'm usually pretty sore afterwards, but I hope it gets better.4 -

Monday (FUNday holiday!!) check in
So, yesterday and today, I got in a nearly 10 mile bike ride! My sweet spot is closer to 20 miles and hitting 20ish would be a total workout for me. Hubby is less enthusiastic for wearing out his behind on the seat, and that's ok - I do it to be with him as much as exercise! I'll take a walk later to get the steps - I was going to this morning like yesterday morning but I totally wanted a lazy morning. Coffee, computer and quiet - nirvana.
Water and cals are on track today - as is exercise and steps if I take a walk later this early evening, which is the plan. Sleep was good, just over 7 hours. Feeling in control (comfortably, versus tenuously) of the plan and how it's going. I feel like after several weeks of being off the path, I'm back on it. Just in time for.....what?....see next paragraph!!
I'm planning for a girl's trip in a week and a half, going to an AirBNB for a friend's 60th. Several surprises for her to include her daughter popping in (they share a birthday!) and we have gathered gifts and messages from friends all over the US to bring to her and enjoy a big birthday bash, despite COVID. The place has a pool - I won't get near @buniphuphu time for exercise in the pool but I'll float around and get wrinkled and pruny.....does that count???? Haha!
Food, of course, will happen. My part of this tribe is the chef of savory. Over the course of a few days, I'm making a giant grains-based salad and warm feta dip with naan, an amazing chicken parmesan and a shrimp and grits to make ya smack yo' mamma! The birthday girl is a master baker and chef of sweet - macarons will happen, as will the deepest of choco ice creams and salted caramel and fudge. Third pal is doing a fabuLOHSO birthday cake and bringing the stuff for a fabo pimento cheese. So - all of these things will happen and I expect a gain because I will be indulging. I'm also going to walk and exercise and work to be mostly reasonable. Portion control, not eating to stuffage and pain, reasonable breakfasts and lunches. I'm working on my inner conversation about it now and getting myself mentally prepared.
Part of the mental prep is from another angle. The 'fishbowl' angle. I'm the one who has lost a bunch of weight - and 3 of the other 4 gals, while they know this, have not seen me in several months. There is some pressure and strain....being the one person who has managed to make serious life changes and transform a body. When this type of scenario first happened to me years ago, it was almost frightening in the intensity of others' curiosity and outright staring and review of my actions to see what I was doing. Like being in a zoo. People don't mean for it to be that way, and certainly this speaks to me and my perception and perspective as much as anything else. Still - it's there and that's how it feels. Maybe it won't be as intense...because it's not unfamiliar or because I've gotten more used to it...? I dunno, just want to be prepared for it, in case.2 -
@raleighgirl09 Ohhh I loved reading about your friend's upcoming birthday bash and all the plan and food that will happen! Sounds incredible and you are going to have so much fun. I hope that you won’t feel like you are in a fishbowl and that you will feel comfortable and that your friends will just let you be you. Can’t wait to hear how it all goes!

@buniphuphu GREAT weigh-in this week!!
You are doing great with goals. I hope your shoulder starts feeling better from the PT very soon. I’m having shoulder issues that I can’t seem to figure out how to fix.
@Cornanda Just start slowly with what you can, and that ship will turn around!
Hi everyone! It’s been a busy couple of days. Yesterday was church and then DH and I went furniture shopping for a new chair and credenza. We aren’t buying until next month, so this was just a research mission. Today, I started my new workout program that is called 10 Rounds. It’s a six-week program through Beachbody that focuses on boxing and weightlifting. I am very uncoordinated, but it was still lots of fun and I seriously got sweaty. Three days are boxing days and two days are weightlifting days. I will take one day off and walk on my treadmill the other day. My low carb eating is going pretty well. I have really been trying to watch my carb intake so that some days will be super low, and others will be higher. Today I fasted for 21 hours. Tomorrow I’m going to try to shake it up and push to 23 or 24 hours. If I can’t that is OK, but it’s good to try once in a while so my body doesn’t get used to the same routine.

@raleighgirl09 That birthday bash sounds amazing! You've reminded me that I haven't had any time off work since I came back from maternity leave in July 2019...we are supposed to get 4 weeks of leave a year but I have taken none! No wonder I am feeling myself wearing down. I spoke to my boss about having a week off...he didn't say no, but I need to fit it in around upcoming projects and then he put in a go-live date for a software change in the only week that would have worked this month...so I guess I won't be taking leave any time soon after all!
@buniphuphu I can't believe the amount of time you're spending in the water!! Incredible job, and you can see it's really paying off on the scale. I hope you're feeling amazing!
@TeresaW1020 There's no way I could ever fast for 21 or 24 hours - you're a champion!
I had a relaxing weekend at home with my little family, with Father's Day on Sunday so that was nice. Back to work now, and feeling the pressure creep up. I had intended to take my little one for a walk in the afternoon but I got home from work feeling drained so we just played and read about 10,000 books instead (he's almost 2, and LOVES books). After he went to bed I did play Beat Saber for half an hour or so, so that was better than doing nothing.
I'm excited to try the challenge this week - but I'm cursing my mother for giving me a long name
I'm going to try to do it a few times each day and try to change the exercises each day too. How fun! 2 -
I had a great day yesterday. First day in ±8 days that I had no stomach cramps. I had a very good run and was well within my calorie goal for the day. I burned more than 700 calories and only ate ±50 back.3

@Cornanda You got this girlfriend, just keep reminding yourself that resisting that food item or doing that workout will make you so proud at the end of the day!
@buniphuphu way to go on the swimming, that's a great streak especially after the snake! Good luck with physical therapy, my experiences with it is the first two weeks are always the hardest.
@raleighgirl09 Yes, great bike ride! They have seats to help with sore butts btw! Sounds like you're doing great at being back on track. I wish I could give good advice for your trip, it DOES feel like people are watching everything you're doing. I try to balance trips with exercise like at least going for a walk but I still tend to overeat. I get back to it when I get home and usually feel kind of out-of-control but I'm not the best moderator. I'm not as bad as I used to be, as long as you're not being strict about what food you eat you can help balance what you eat like eating your favorites or things you can't normally have (like Christmas cookies!) vs. say potato chips and dip you can have any time. And make it the good stuff, a homemade treat is way better than a generic bag of cookies! Just how I did it counting calories before I stopped eating certain foods.
@TeresaW1020 Oh, 10Rounds sounds awesome, I love boxing! Wow, post how your fast goes, I don't think I could last that long. Do you find your workouts better fasted or after eating? Just curious.1 -
@TwistedSassette Sounds like a fun way to work out, let us know what exercise you're doing! I love switching things up and while I can't do much now I keep adding stuff to my future "to try" list!

Nothing really new, still in a lot of pain but mentally doing better. I'm doing another Walmart pick-up because I can't handle Costco even with help and it's my card so I can't send the guy I'm seeing. I'm filing a bunch of grievances tomorrow because my insurance keeps denying all my doctor's referrals so I can't get help. I got all fired up listening to "let's bust some heads" music only to have all the offices closed today then I can't do much exercise so I'm just laying around unable to get my energy out so I was frustrated. Hard to celebrate holidays with COVID, pain, and a heatwave. I'll have to come up with some good ideas, even though life is complicated now it's still important to find things to enjoy, celebrate, and be grateful for.3 -
@TwistedSassette I couldn’t fast that long either when I first started. We call it building your fasting muscle. 😉 I’m glad you had a relaxing weekend and good luck with this week’s challenge.

@Katmary71 Yeah, I think I’m going to like 10 Rounds a lot. Today was weight lifting for legs and it was a killer. I always workout fasted. Usually at the 15 to 17-hour mark. I tried to work out a few weeks ago after eating and I just couldn’t push myself at all. I hope you can get some through to the insurance companies and that they will stop denying the referrals. That has to be beyond aggravating.
@trooworld I hope the new diet will really start helping you and that the pain management app will be beneficial. I’m also glad that the heatwave is breaking for you. Our weather this week has been low 80’s and no humidity. It’s glorious!!
Hi everyone! I did day two of my new workout program that was lower body weights. The trainer had us do 3 sets of one exercise for 50 seconds with a 10-second break between. There were 5 total exercises and then two core exercises. It was intense but my knees held up so that made me very happy. I am super excited because we are finally getting our back porch screened in and it’s just in time because the weather is turning so nice here. I can’t wait to sit out there and enjoy it. Right now there is lots of noise and my poor little dog isn’t very happy.

@TeresaW1020 Thanks helping me feel less alone with my daughter. I worry about her so much. Thanks for the shout out too! I found y’all just as I came back to MFP. It was nice to see a loss my first week back.
@Twistedsassette Thanks for the hugs. I felt them.
@Katmary71 Thanks for the prayers. I felt those too. I was a depressed teen but not a troubled teen, so I lack insight on how to help. When I try to talk with her about depression she just tells me I don’t know what I am talking about. I hate that your doctor always makes things about your weight. That can make you feel so unheard. It also sucks that your insurance company is messing with you!
@trooworld Thanks. It is definitely a difficult season for me. I try not to fuss or complain too much IRL, but it’s draining.
@raleighgirl09 Thanks for the congrats and the good vibes for inner peace.
Hello All!
Thanks to everyone who sent out prayers and goodvibes for my daughter. She seems to be doing better. We had an appt with her psychiatrist on Saturday and she’s scheduled to see her psychiatrist on Thursday. She and I were able to spend some time together shopping on Saturday and then more shopping yesterday. I hate shopping but she enjoys it so that’s what we did. Got a call from CPS today to schedule a family visit. I missed the call so only have a vm at the moment. The agent and I are playing phone tag.
I went a bit off the rails this weekend. I busted the screen protector on my apple watch on Friday. I took the watch off so I wouldn’t break the actual screen, because I am a klutz. Without my watch on I was not motivated to make my step counts or go to the gym. I did get my water in and I did log my food in MFP. I think logging kept me from going even crazier on food. I didn’t really emotionally eat. I more socially ate. So that’s good I suppose. I am back on track today though.
Thanks to everyone on the kind words about my lost pounds! It’s nice to be in a supportive group and it’s nice to get off to a good start with a loss since I have just come back to tracking and exercising.
I am just really sad and down. It’s hard to focus on anything that isn’t worry. But I am trying to take care of myself so I can feel better soon.
I hope everyone is well!

Tuesday check in
Thanks everyone for the good wishes on my girls's weekend birthday bash! It will be fun and all of the indulgences will be home made and well worth it. I'm planning to log it even knowing it will be over everyday but looking to being mindful anyway which should help keep it more on the reasonable side.
Ohhh, bad Maria - I was so tempted to not check in, just really tired. I didn't want to break my one day streak, though, so here I am!! =>
Calories - over...combining being tired with veggie tots and being very hungry led to over indulgence! And for those not my pal to go gawk at this in my diary for yourself....I had 4 servings which is 600 cals (in addition to the rest of the day and sinner!!)!!! Admittedly - delish, can't complain about that
Water - on target with the 8 cups
Exercise - nothin' for today as I had to work a lot of hours for the office and then drive an hour to see my mom and cook dinner, etc., and then drive it on home
Sleep - I made sure to go to bed on time last night but had a hard time getting to sleep - thinking tonight will be better!
@TeresaW1020 I know you're going to enjoy the new exercise routine, seems right up your alley! We've had a few cooler days here, too, and it has been dreamy!
@BethB554 isn't it funny how hooked we get to that little friend on the wrist! I tel mysef I get the steps whether they log or not and the result is the same but I'm always disappointed they didn't"count." So glad you had a good afternoon with your daughter - the good moments in between the tougher times does help bridge the time. Glad you were able to keep steady with a part of the plan, it's a step in the right direction!
@Cornanda we're all thinking of your ship.... => I hope you're in the channel with the tides, wind and current in your favor. And if there's a headwind.....tack, my friend....TACK! I know, I know, I just mixed water vessel analogies...
@trooworld I hope that the new eating plan is helpful! Taking positive steps forward always feels better to me than twisting in the wind. You're the recipe guru, you'll find a bunch of new ones to try, I'm sure!
@katmary71 I am feeling the GRRRRRR about all of the denial by the insurance companies! Is there any kind of advocacy group that can help on your behalf...? I am just grasping at straws - very disheartening to have to keep being tied up in the frustrating red tape!
@petrocoetsee glad you're feeling better, I actually have had a much better tummy lately. It was actually an easy fix for me, at least for now, by taking probiotics. The wild ride of ups and downs and cramps galore have gone away. Whatever you did - keep doing it! I *totally* know how much better life is with a tamed tummy.
@TwistedSassette the weekend was relaxing over here, too, and sometimes that's what's really needed! I hope you get that week off next month or maybe over/near the holidays? Even in a lockdown, semi lockdown or even just an adjusted schedule, getting time away from the grind is crucial!3 -

@trooworld I'm downloading that app right now, great idea to keep track of things. I fight so hard to make it through each day I blank out how I was before so something like this would be good for me as well. If you want to talk anti-inflammatory diets hit me up! I'm curious how you're planning on eating. I haven't been able to cut out nightshades, eggs, garlic, or onions yet. I eat a ton of salsa so if it's a bad area for me I'm definitely overdoing it.
@BethB554 It sounds like you're back on track, wtg! I'm a klutz too, I just found my missing Fitbit in the bottom of the washing machine when I was emptying it, thank goodness it had just failed a test with Fitbit and a replacement had arrived by the time I discovered it! I just discovered my Instant Pot knob that had fallen off under the tea kettle on the stove AFTER I'd heated hot water. Both still work! I don't know if your daughter and I had/have similar issues but doing things together like shopping (even though you hate it) definitely will have her feeling less alone and closer to you. You're her mom, you're still not gonna get it from a depressed teen's point-of-view, but every moment counts. I'm glad she has you! Huge hugs to you, I know everything seems overwhelming now but you're tough and you'll get through this!

Exercise- small amount of arm cardio, chakra meditation
Couldn't take it anymore and finally went to the ER as a last resort, my veins are full of steroids at this point and thank God they helped some as I haven't slept in days and felt horrible. I thought I was going to lose my mind, it was a last resort after this last week of hell, my blood pressure was 191 on top. One good thing about COVID is I was out of there within 30 minutes, that never happens! It took 3xs as long picking up the prescriptions. I spent the day doing what I could to protest and appeal, I have a call into a legal school, messages to my doctor, and filed a grievance with my insurance. I'm not sure I'll be able to stick with school, I'm already behind and am going to try and catch up tomorrow but it's really hard to concentrate and I have to keep my legs elevated without laptop pressure so I'm trying to rig a desk with pillows and a piece of wood that doesn't touch my legs. It's so much easier to sit at a table or at my desk! I was "great" about asking for help, I told the guy I was seeing I'd be back in a few hours after trying to lay down and having a panic attack, I think I shocked him when I said I'd be at the hospital, he knew I wasn't feeling good but not that I was about to start screaming my head off. It was either that or get drunk and that would really ruin my anti-inflammatory diet! After years of dealing with pain alone I don't know how to let someone in aside of those who've been there for me for years plus it's not like he could go in the ER with me so I didn't see the point of dragging him along. I just started making him help me around the house, I'm getting there!
