HOW IT ALL WORKS:
Every challenger weighs in on their chosen day, every week without fail! At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!
We also track those small, steady losses with the Green Week count. If you lose, however small an amount, it counts for 1 week in the green. At the end of the month we celebrate everyone who lost every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard!
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:

Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you need a week off, a break, a change of weigh-in day - just ask your Captains here on your team chat page. If you take a break, you are moved to the Support Team. You can remain on the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions and weigh in if you want to, but your weigh-ins will not be counted on the weekly tally. If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to ask if you are travelling, sick, or just needing some time off.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone! You need support to maintain, and you can help your teammates join you. You continue to weigh in every week, and if you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team!
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month and year begin!!

Hello team!
I'm Jamie and this is my first month in F2F, but not my first time using MFP to lose weight. In 2012, I lost over 50 pounds, but in 2017, I got in a comfortable happy relationship and found most of it again over the next few years.
I started tracking again in early November and have lost 13 pounds since then! I'm excited to be in this group and a part of our team. Here's to a great 2021! 🎉🥂🎉6 -
Happy 2021 team! I'm Laura, this is my 3rd month on Shrinking Assets and I love when this group is active. I do my weigh ins on Tuesdays. This group gives me a great space to check in. I live in Idaho with my husband and 2 year old son. We had a daughter who passed away in 2017 and my weight has fluctuated a ton since that loss. Grief sucks! I am here because I am trying to change my relationship with food and get down to a healthy weight that makes me feel confident in my own skin. I am currently lifting weights/resistance training and walking for activity. The weight loss has been very slow but I have been losing a lot of inches and reshaping my body. Welcome to all of the new team members, please send a friend request if you would like!7

I am Beka, one of your Team Captains and Group Moderator. My counterpart and bestie is Julie, aka @Boehle.
I am 44, married, mom of 2 daughters, Mimi of one amazing grandson, and human mom to 3 fur babies. I usually live in the beautiful mountains of Northern Georgia, but currently residing in Florida as I am acting nanny to my sweet grandson.
I started my journey 3 years ago at 242 lbs, lost down to 174 (-68 lbs) and maintained almost 9 months before gaining back to 232. It is only failure if you quit... right???
For my second time around, I am currently down about 70 lbs from my highest...
Holidays have skewed the sales a bit.

Hi all, I am Samantha. I am a 45 year old married mother of 3. We live in California. I have been overweight since high-school and every year the number slowly inches up. I am currently over 220 lbs (I'll weigh in tomorrow morning for my exact weight.) My first goal is to get under 200. I am TERRIBLE about drinking water and I need to start exercising at least 5 days a week. I tend to lose weight pretty quickly at first then get discouraged about week 4. So my goal is to get over that hump. Feel free to friend me, I have an open diary.4

Welcome @FatMomSlim21 👋 I'm also in California!
Hi there to all the other new team members! I love the inspiration and support of an active newsfeed when I log in so happy to add new friends!
I had slowly gained weight my whole adult life, and tried MFP before unsuccessfully. I started my journey again in March at 234lbs. A switch flipped for me (thanks covid), and I say "no more" to my emotional eating and poor stress management. My health is so much more important to me now, and I had no idea how much better I'd feel! Very serious about making this a lasting change.
I've lost *almost* 40lbs but just cannot seem to get over the threshold. My losses have been MUCH more gradual per month since making it into onederland in September.
Unfortunately today I'm struggling with horrible sciatica, but made sure to get moving with a gentle beach walk and LOTS of stretching. Thank god the holiday leftovers are out of the house too---BE GONE!5 -
Hi team! I’m Frances and I live in Ohio. I’m excited to get some team motivation and support. I lost my workout buddy when I relocated 2 years ago and I miss it. I mostly struggle with overeating and am working on building a better relationship with food. With winter, the pandemic and no one to work out with, I’ve really been struggling with good workouts at home.
I’ve worked this whole year, albeit with tons of stress. However, I’m down 4lbs during this pandemic but I’ve been floating around 220 for the last 2 years and I’m ready to get in shape.
Heights: 5’9”

Happy New Year!! Let’s do this!

Hi everyone, and welcome to all the new members to our team! I know I missed adding a few newbies as friends, so if you didn't get a friend request from me, please send me one! I love interacting with people here on MFP, whether it's celebrating together, giving/receiving advice, or simply having a friend who understands the struggles of weight loss.
My name is Heather. I live alone in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I'm 41 and at my biggest, I was 440 pounds. When I started working from home in March 2020, I decided if there was any time to start working on my health, THIS was it. I've lost around 75 pounds so far. YAHOO!! My body already feels so much better.
I was looking at my weight loss the last 8 weeks or so, and I've actually been hovering. Up and down, up and down. You know what though? I feel good right now. I've been struggling, but I see light at end of the tunnel. Days are getting longer, vaccines are getting distributed, and the current lockdown in my province is more than half way over.
I was driving home last night (NYE) and as I was driving, the following mileage milestone happened:
I think this is a good omen for 2021. The tides are changing. I am changing. I feel hopeful and am looking forward to what 2021 has to offer.
My goals for this month are:- Drink 48 oz. of water/day
- Meal plan every weekend for my food on work days
- Attend virtual Zumba on Tuesdays, and when I can, on Fridays
- Return to swimming 3 times per week when the swimming pools reopen (hopefully Jan 11)
- Be kind to myself, and turn negative self-talk into positive self-talk.
Go team! We got this!10 -
Hi everyone, and welcome all new members! It’s really a great group.
I’m 29 and live near Helsinki, Finland with my husband. We moved to our new apartment a week before Christmas, so there’s still a lot of decorating and organizing to do. We’re also settling into the new routines of our new home, and trying to take advantage of the change and upgrading those routines to healthier ones. I’m currently around 220lbs. I have two alternate goals for the year and they can’t be reached at the same time, but I hope to either lose 50ish pounds or have a baby. My more ”exact” goal weight is 176lbs (under 80kg) but I’ll reevaluate as needed.
January goals:
- use the stairs instead of elevator unless carrying something big (our apartment is in 4th floor)
- lose weight every week
- Log all food
- Go to the gym 8 times
- weigh in daily4 -
Hello everyone! My name is Marlene. I'm new to the group. I struggled with my weight since departing military life in 2005. My heaviest weight was 193. My current weight is 160. My goal is to lose about 20-30 lbs and learn how to keep it off for good. I want to live a long and healthy lifestyle.

Hi everyone!
My name is Wendy. I live in Wisconsin with my husband and two dogs. I've been on the rollercoaster of weight loss for about 20 years. Something clicked in my head when we were sent home to work because of COVID. I decided I would go back to work smaller than when I left. Being at home has made it much easier to get my eating under control and start exercising again.
My goal is to get to 140 by my 45th birthday which is July 1, 2021.
My goal for January is to get to 160 and get more consistent with the exercise. My plan is to go to the gym Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and do home workout, DVD, yoga etc on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Rest day is Sunday when I will do shopping and meal prep.
Welcome to all the new members! Feel free to add me as a friend!6 -
Hello
Dogmom1978 from NE PA where I live with my husband and 7 dogs.
I enjoy dog walks, hiking, and need to use my ridiculous home gym more often (I’m reliably at 3 days a week with the exception of Xmas week).
I gained a lb for the week of Xmas, but then followed that up with losing 2. Obviously most of that Xmas lb was water weight.
To the newbies: weight loss is not steady. You will have ups and downs. The important thing is how you handle it when the weight goes up. Don’t give up, just get right back to doing what is working for you.5 -

Hi teamies! I'm Lex and I'm from Wales.
I've yo-yo'd with my weight since about 2007.
I currently use weights and resistance training at home (we're in lockdown for the 3rd time!) and walk/hike for exercise.
My highest ever recorded weight was May 2020 (lockdown #1!!) when I was 11st 12lb. I'm only 5ft 2" so it really showed.
I'm looking forward to sharing my weight loss journey with you all and hopefully supporting you guys too.
My first 2021 weigh in is tomorrow!
Happy New Year to you all! Let's smash all of our goals 👍7 -
Hello Team! I love the team name because I'm a CPA and I think it's pretty punny! I live in Texas with my husband of 32 years. We have a 27 year old son who recently moved to Washington DC, and a nearly 24 year old daughter who resides in Houston. I steadily gained weight over the years but I finally managed to lose the baby weight from kid #2. My highest weight ever was 247.5. During my most recent loss attempt I went from 237.5 to my current 199.5.
I've been in a relative holding pattern with my weight for a while, with various challenges inhibiting progress. In 2019 I had a meniscus tear and discovered I have bone-on-bone arthritis in my knee so I was on crutches for 3 weeks and spent months going to physical therapy to strengthen it. We had a trip to Italy planned for April 2020 so in January last year I transitioned from PT (physical therapy) to PT (personal trainer) because the therapist was only allowed to work on the knee that was injured. Starting with the trainer allowed me to work on both knees for balance, along with everything else. Of course our trip was cancelled but I could see the progress I was making and I have continued with the gym for almost a year. In February, I will mark two years with attending a weekly community yoga class with a delightful group of now-friends. My weight training has strengthened my knees, allowing me to begin walking regularly again.
With Covid and my husband suddenly working from home, there were more challenges in the food area (what happened to the leftovers I had planned for dinner? And I wouldn't be wanting to eat junk food if I didn't see my husband snacking all.the.time.) Because our daughter's birthday is in a few days, our holiday season won't be over quite yet. But I will be purging the cupboards, taking inventory and making a conscious effort to meal plan and shop weekly. I'm looking forward to being more active on here again very soon!5 -

Ugh. I did so well yesterday, until in the evening when I was craving sugar and I had one box of Christmas chocolates left. Well, I no longer have a box of Christmas chocolates. I think this evening sugar snacking is a habit I need to kick so I can be more successful.
I included in my nerd spreadsheet some quite truth-telling numbers... my average deficit for 2021 (yes, two days) is a surplus of 75 calories, and if every day in 2021 was like yesterday my weight on Dec 31st would be 315lbs. This was the most awakening number of all. I am NOT looking to gain almost 100lbs.
It started snowing yesterday for the first time this winter, and I'm not here for it. My personal belief is that if the snow doesn't come before the holidays it doesn't need to come at all. Especially now, since my mom had shoulder surgery and can't use her right arm, so she needs someone to shovel her snow. For me personally, one of the reasons I like living in an apartment building is that we have a maintenance company that shovels the snow, but now I have to go shovel hers. Well, I'm going to make a workout out of taking a walk to her house and shoveling her yard.
Today is my last day off before going back to work. I'm sort of looking forward to it, but also a little bit terrified. My role is changing quite a lot (for the better) but we don't yet have any decent plans on how my old job gets done, so I might have to do both jobs and I'm not very thrilled about that considering my recent history with burnout-nearing exhaustion.1 -

My mother in law fell and broke 3 bones in her back. They own 2 horses and she slipped on the back steps.
My husband and I know nothing about horses. He’s actually slightly afraid of them. So, now I have added cleaning out horse stalls and taking care of 2 horses to my daily list. On the plus side, cleaning out their stalls is a great workout.8 -

Yikes!!! Taking care of horses is a wonderful thing, but yes - they can be kinda scary. It is a great workout indeed, but spending some quiet time around these lovely animals will help with the stress even if having to do it adds to your chores. I'm sure your dear husband can learn to muck out a stall, and maybe he will discover the loveliness of the horses too. I hope your MIL recovers well4 -

So I took a big step today. I have kept my various sizes of clothing to help me adjust up and down over the years.
Today I bagged up the 14-18 clothes. All of them. And put them in a pile for the Salvation Army. I’m too cheap to buy new clothes, so if my 12s or below (when I get there) start to get too tight, I’ll know I’m off track and need to kick into high gear. It’s time to remove the safety net.13 -
Hi everyone, I am a continuing team member but missed posting my final weigh-in for December last Friday (1/1). Since the December post is now closed, I'm adding it here to close out December and roll into January with my starting weight.
