I had a really positive day.
Why?
The weather was great. I finished and delivered two legal analyses.
The painter at our house is finally done.
We still get to enjoy the presence of our West Coast adult children and their spouses for the next two days.
I had another 3 yes day with a nice margin below my calorie limit.11 -
@biketheworld - great opening post. ❤️
Exercise: 45 min class.
Calories: Under.
Tracking: On point.
Pass days: 5 used as I just came back today.
It’s good to be back.
Spark notes version of the last few weeks: I’m mentally ready to get back in it, which was helped by how crappy I felt after letting my eating get away from me. Feeling so much better today now that my food is in check. Also got through several medical tests fairly unscathed that had been stressing me out. (I DID learn I’m allergic to the contrast fluid they use for CAT scans the hard way. That was SUPER fun!) Summer camp is possibly the best thing ever for my kiddo, who is programmed for constant activity not sitting at a desk all day. We have a stupid frog named Stu that moved in under our water slide by the pool, will not leave no matter how many times I move him under the deck, and gives zero sh*ts that we exist around him or about my lectures on how bad chlorine is for him. Stupid Stu. 😑
On that note I have loads of catching up to do with everyone’s posts!

Found my daughter a basement suite that she loves...it has a really bizarre layout but my daughter is bizarre in her own way...perfect for her!! Only had to look at 7 places...LOL
I too am a grazer...I tried to shut it down but found I was looking around to make sure no one would see me a sneak something...It was crazy!! So grazing is aloud again...I just have a rule of only grazing in my fruit and veggie bowl that's right inside the fridge. I log everything in the AM and when it;s gone it's gone. But I always check it to make sure there's enough left for TV hour...9 -
@MadisonMolly2017 - “#NeverGiveUp” - love this!
@Mrs_Hoffer - “working harder at developing HABITS and DISCIPLINE instead of trying to always find more motivation” - goodness this is really deep and so true!
@harleywolf55 - welcome to the UAC. There are some truly remarkable and inspiring people here.
@mshawski - I’m so glad you’re back! I think I love Stu!

I did have a Corona light at dinner and some almonds at 9:00. I’ve accepted the fact that I'm happier if I can have a nighttime snack, I just need to plan for it and not get carried away.8 -

Did I exercise at least 20 minutes? Yeah. Barely. I don't exercise as much on weekdays. It's the scurry from the bus station to the courthouse in the morning and back the other way at the end of the day. Then a walk with the dog before bed. It works out to about 25 minutes total. Sometimes a little more.
Did I track everything I ate? I did.
Did I meet calories? I did that too.
Pass Days = 3/3
So three yesses for me today. And some tasty food, albeit very light in the veggies and fruit department.
Thank you, @biketheworld, for your fabulous post, and to everybody else for their responses.
This in particular, from @WhatMeRunning - "Life is a piece of *kitten* sometimes and will run you right through the *kitten* grinder and try to crush your soul sometimes. And it sucks horribly. And you feel defeated and want to give up. And maybe you do for a while. But eventually you realize that all you have to do to get out of those doldrums is pick yourself right back up again, right off the floor, and GET GOING AGAIN. Because you deserve it." (Am I the only one amused by the way MFP censors curse words by changing them to "*kitten*"? I didn't realize it was MFP doing it until something I wrote got changed.)
I'm working on getting out of the doldrums right now because my life has been a *kitten*show for quite awhile now. (That was me, not MFP. Hahahah!) I am not doing a particularly good job at it, but, baby steps. I know, a phrase I've been overusing a lot, especially lately, but the only other thing I could think of was this:
Good night, UAC. Thank you for being here.

July 6 - it’s going great. Having cooked protein in fridge makes such a huge difference for me. Eating my protein spread 5-6 times through the day really helps my efforts.
3️⃣ Remaining Pass Days!
Great discussions this month!! Thank you!

Looks like some great posts the last 2 days, I will have to try to make some time to read through them. Struggling is part of the process. We didn't get here by our good habits. And it's really easy to fall into our past comfort behaviours. I spent about 8 months working through why I binged and self-sabotaged and then come up with strategies of how to address it going forward. Today I was triggered at work to binge. I managed to overcome it, even with working into the evening and less time for exercise. I lost the battle yesterday but won it today. I guess that's the key: don't quit, just keep showing up and working at it. I now measure my success by how quickly I turn a bad choice or day around.
Anyway, yes x 3 today.8 -
Maryann - It's so good to see you again! I'm glad that things are beginning to turn around for you. And it's super exciting that your little one loves summer camp so much! And your frog story made me smile! It sounds like Stu believes he's found a pretty darn good thing, no matter what YOU think! Lol.4

Why hello @harleywolf55, hit Post and then saw your beautiful pic above. Welcome - and I'm sure you'll love being a part of this community!2

@biketheworld great timing for me.
I wrote a longer post and hit the wrong button again...grrr. but I'm 2/3 and after 400 calories over. I've got 1 pass day now.5 -
@brisingr86 I feel ya!! I know first hand how difficult it is to go back to work! I've been WFH for almost 16 months now and going back to work this week has really jacked up ALL of my morning routine! Lol. I'm not going to stress out about it though - I'm working on re-designing a "new and improved" morning routine! (I was gonna say something about a "new normal" but I've grown to hate that phrase!)
Life is all about CHANGE!
We got this!!6 -
@fourathomej what a terrific idea to have a fruit and veggie bowl available for "grazing" throughout the day! I like that!2

Oh wow... y'all got deep deep for this day's opening post! @biketheworld, thank you for bringing up this topic. @Winner_in_Life took the words right out of my mouth; you do have a great smile along with deeply soulful looking eyes one could get lost in.
As for today's topic, my challenge is taking what I've learned during my weight loss journey in the past 18+ months and applying similar discipline (if not better) to other areas of my life. It's a slow process 😑 Yet, for me, it comes down to overdue self-control and more maturity.
@mshawski Glad to see you back. May Stupid Stu become Smart Stu sooner rather than later 🐸
@fourathomej Congrats to you and your daughter for sticking it out!
@snowshoe072 hope your knee gets better soon so that you're back out there doing all the fun stuff you do. I think I saw you mention ATVing the other day?! 😍
@seilidhe Sending you virtual 🤗

Thank you @biketheworld for the inspirational post today! I have to admit, I generally do not share a lot. At any point in time when I have started to lose weight, I have not shared what I am doing or my goals with anyone except my husband. I don't want people - even my friends - to know, because if I don't lose weight/meet my goal, I don't want people to know I failed.
This group, with the tracking, accountability, and support is really working for me. And, again, the only person in my real life who knows I am participating here is my husband.
So, I guess my declaration is that I should not consider getting healthy/doing what I need to do to feel better about myself to be a win/lose or pass/fail situation subject to people's judgement.6 -

@Higa2021 - “I wrote a longer post and hit the wrong button again...grrr. “ I feel your pain. As a matter of fact, this is the second time I’m typing this response for the very same reason!
@JennyRebecca1978 - “ I don't want people - even my friends - to know, because if I don't lose weight/meet my goal, I don't want people to know I failed.” OMG this is me exactly. My husband is pretty much the only one who knows and I really don’t tell him a lot for fear he’ll blurt something out with friends.
@MaltedTea - oh my gosh you crack me up. I did literally LOL. I had to zoom in on your new picture a couple days ago trying to figure out why your lips were so red. You have a great sense of humor and I love it!

Omg you guys!!!! I'm overwhelmed by your encouragement and great support!! There is so many posts in reply to mine of yesterday, too many to read right now! but you have gotten me EXCITED about staying here and most importantly, doing the work I know I have to to make a dent in my weight.
My biggest issue/stumbling block is drinking alcohol. I can't drink like a normal person... one is too many, the next one's not enough. Before I know it I'm crunching and munching on anything I can get my hands on.
So.... knowing what I know .... habits are my focus for today. Identifying the sabotaging ones, making a plan to replace the action (drinking, snacking, wasting time on things that don't matter) with something different productive. Identifying the good habits I do have and how to amp them up.
My pass days are gone for July. Oh well. I'm going to try my hardest/best to keep on track (count all calories, little or no alcohol, stay within my calorie budget, exercise 20 minutes) for the next 7 days and see what happens on the scale (and the waistband lol!) Today's weight: 196.2
Journaling this will help me. THANK YOU ALL FOR THE GREAT SUGGESTIONS, CONCERN AND KIND WORDS!!7 -

So... I just finished reading through all the posts from 6/16 forward catching up. Holy *kitten* you guys, I missed a lot 😳. What a time to take a few weeks off! Thanks to all that stepped up to keep this going in July and forward so my lazy butt had a group to come home to when I came back. ♥ Please keep me in the loop if there's anything I can do to help!5

Apparently if you add asterisks to your bad words, it still sees you and replaces them with *kitten*. #todayIlearned4
