I’m new to this group and starting a bit later for the September challenge so I won’t qualify for the winners circle but I really need some accountability so I’m going to do my best to post daily and keep myself accountable!
I prefer to weigh myself weekly. Daily weigh-ins feed my obsession over food and body weight too much. Instead I need to focus on healthy eating and excercise to feel good. But that’s just me😁10 -

When I first started losing weight I weighed myself every Thursday morning (only once a week). My husband started on Noom a few months after me (he has since moved over to MFP) and they encourage daily weigh-ins. I have switched to that and haven't looked back. I don't obsess or get hooked over the number.. mostly just find it fascinating and trust the process. I have recently started recording them in an Excel spreadsheet with my daily calories consumed so I can have better maintenance calorie data as I go and also observe trend weights versus just a daily number.
I input my daily weigh in into MFP each morning whether it's up or down.6 -

I have a Withings Body+ scale which has a Health Mate app that also works in conjuction with my Apple Watch and the Apple Health app. It does a weekly trend for steps, workouts and weight but I hardly ever look at it. In the past I only weighed myself once a week on Fridays and often I'd use it to determine what restaurant we'd go to on Saturday. When I encountered a plateau this spring I started weighing more frequently and now I weigh most days in the morning usually after the treadmill and before I eat anything. It has been enlightening.5 -
I weigh myself daily, but I am taking a break from it this week. My weight is up and I'm pretty sure it's because I started the new strength program and while I know my muscles are holding on to more water, mentally it is a little tough for me. I weigh myself because I need it for that extra accountability because I just do not see it when I gain weight (until I see the photographic evidence 🙀. )
Yesterday was the first day back to school (no kids) and I was dead tired by the time I got home. Luckily, I'd gotten exercise in before school. Today I'm doing a morning walk and am going to try and do today's glutes workout with tomorrow's arm because I know I'll be wiped out again today. I'm also proud of myself because I resisted all the temptations at our school buffet. My co-workers hadn't seen me in about a year and a half so I also got lots of compliments about the weight loss, which was really nice.

Another pass day (the 5th I think?)
Exercise – no. I wasn’t feeling too well and spent most of the day sitting reading. It was raining all day as well. I did make the effort to get up and walk about a bit every hour and I felt better in the evening but scarcely managed my “moderate activity level”.
Tracked – yes
Calories – just a few over as I couldn’t claim any exercise calories.
Like many others I weigh every day. I use the Libra app to keep an eye on the trend.I don’t generally get fluctuations except when I’ve been on holiday. As I very rarely go away in my car, I don’t even think of taking the scales with me. Most of my holidays are only short breaks – less than a week – so that limits the damage that might happen. Before Covid struck we used to take holidays abroad 2 or 3 times a year, obviously taking scales is impossible. I try to be sensible about food and do get lots of activity – cycling, swimming, walking – while we’re away. I managed to lose 22 kg in 9 months in spite of taking several holidays, days out, meals with friends and family.5 -

I weigh in every day, first thing. I have been doing that for uh... close to 20 years now... which is close to half my life. I did stop during my first pregnancy when my weight gain was out of control due to out of control morning sickness - it was too discouraging. During the pregnancy with my second child, I was well medicated and able to keep the weight gain within what was recommended, so I felt good about it and did continue to track my weight throughout.
I do not bring my scale on vacation, and I usually see a weight gain on vacation. To me that's just part of a vacation, and I enjoy the break and get back on track after.
For many years I had a fairly inaccurate digital scale, which I got on over and over again each morning until it stayed steady 3x in a row. It measured to the 0.5 pounds. I knew, based on weigh ins and the doctor's office, that it was 2 pounds lighter than what was correct, and honestly that delayed me getting a new scale for a long time - I didn't want the gain!
Just a few months ago, my wife got me a Withing's scale for a gift. It measures to the 0.1 pound and shows a consistent weight no matter how many times I step on it. And it syncs with its own app and automatically with MFP. I actually find that it is better for my mental health to not have to remember the weight and write it down somewhere. And with measuring to 0.1 pounds, I am able to see good and bad changes quicker.
But I did not like to see the "gain" of 2 pounds! It honestly was and still is very discouraging. I am losing weight very slowly, so that made a big difference in my progress towards my goal.3 -
So just a comment because I know as a maintainer and a non daily weigher I am in the minority. For those of you who have said that every time they stopped weighing they gained the weight back let me pose this question.
Did you stop weighing because you were afraid of the scale and were over eating? My guess is yes. Because in the past that would be me also. It wasn't the weighing that was the problem. It was everything else. So if you think deeply about your regaining of weight look for the root cause. The scale is just a metric. You probably were not logging or exercising or wearing the same clothes either.
It's a good tool and everyone is different of course but it's been over a year for me and I think it IS possible to maintain without having to track your weight daily.4 -
@yrc_pr
I would recommend an apple if you have apple products. I have used garmin in the past and have been quite happy with the product I only switched as I went to an apple phone which I find easier than android.1 -
Excellent day @doubleplay_643
@yrc_pr - Tough question! It depends on budget, what activities you plan to use it for, and what metrics you would find most helpful.
If budget is unlimited I have never heard of an unhappy Garmin Fenix or Apple Watch owner.
For the budget conscious I have heard countless great reviews among Garmin VIVO series and Fitbits users.
Then there are lots of options in between. I have owned two different Garmin Forerunner watches over the last several years and been extremely pleased. While primarily used for running, they track other activities too.
Awesome day @Jillygirl0220
Thanks for sharing that weight tracking site @Anya_000 I had not heard of that one before. And congrats on making a dull day into a 3 yes day!
If having pants that are too big are the only problem then things are definitely going right @RangerRickL
@readyornot1234 I started weighing myself throughout the day for a while, it is fascinating how much weight we can gain during the day.

Welcome @laslofitness you will find this place incredibly helpful and supportive.
I'm so impressed how well you track things @MadisonMolly2017 and have the experience to identify something like that sugar intake to quickly tackle that hunger issue!
You do an amazing job keeping things going @lesdarts180 even among holidays, etc. Keep it up!
@Caroline_slowandsteady You'll get that new scale back below the old wrong number soon enough! You're doing amazing!
@SummerSkier you nailed it! I would literally give up, tracking, weighing, everything!
