Pass Day

Weekly avg calories is over by 41 or 287 for the week.
I need to get back to posting my foods before I eat them after 7pm!!! I could have been under
Didn’t feel well today - hopefully my body is building immunity to COViD 🤞🏻 Mild headache, fatigued
For the first time in a long time, I catnapped instead of walking. It was the right thing to do as I’m not a napped.
91 degree weather didn’t help. Normally I can power through, but never got that 2nd wave 🤷♀️

1. Tracked it all ✅
2. Kept within calorie limit? ✅
3. Moved for 20 minutes or more? ✅ yes - 80 minute walk with the pup. We had outdoor dog training class this morning and it was lots of walking and so much fun!
1️⃣ pass day used on September 4Extra goals for September:
8000 steps? 👍🏻 13,400 steps
Reached protein goal of 88g? 👎🏻 (56g actual).
iPhone ban from the bed success? 👍🏻 This is becoming more of a good habit (but keeping at it)5 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Yes, I did an ab workout and upper body strength training
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? No
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes
The hardest rule for me is staying within my calorie budget. Today was a perfect example. I just get so hungry and I don’t want to go to sleep hungry.4 -

3️⃣ Pass Days Remaining
Since I've been in maintenance I don't often take pass days. When I do, they are usually because of family celebration when I have chosen not to stay within calories.
Today I was planning a pass day because the family were celebrating DH's 75th birthday, but when I tracked, I discovered that I was still in the green. Probably because I had a light breakfast, and wasn't hungry tonight, so didn't eat a big Sunday dinner.
On reflection, I'm taking Sunday as a pass day. It's within in the bounds of possibility that my tracking was less than accurate. I did eyeball one or two morsels, at which I am notoriously inaccurate, and that would have pushed my calories into the red.

Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? yes
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? yes
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? yes- Treadmill: 36 mins / 2.14 mi
- HIIT Warm Up: 5 min
- Day 5: EPIC I - HIIT Full Body Workout No Equipment (+ cool down): 34 mins
- Pool (light exercise) - approximately 60 mins
Passes used: 2/3 (1sep) (4sep)
When I got up this morning I didn't think I could do the Day 5 HIIT but after the treadmill followed by caffeine I was ready for it. I was able to do most of it other than some of the lunge variations. Instead I jogged in place. A couple of times I modified what she was doing simply because it would be too hard on my knees.
Probably since my early 50s I have found getting up from the ground is a little awkward and I had some trouble with it when I started EPIC but even after two weeks I'm finding it to be easier.

We were out again (Motorhome and Campervan Show) which meant less exercise – except walking -and I didn’t do as much as the previous day. I had a plain burger for lunch – no chips/fries - so that was OK. I ate dinner at home so that was also OK.
However, we stopped for coffee on the way home and I had a chocolate chip cookie with it. When I got home and looked it up to log it, it was 373 calories! Guess what, at the end of the day I was over by 350 calories. (Even after adding 60 minutes of walking exercise)
I drove about 4 hours (including a long diversion on the way home) so I was too tired to do any extra exercise when I got home.
Which of the 3 rules do I find most difficult? Tracking.
Exercise is easy as I’m retired so have plenty of time and really 20 minutes is no problem. I have a goal of 12,000 steps on my fitness tracker which I usually meet/exceed, I go out on my bike for at least 15 minutes almost every day when I’m at home, and I do short UTube routines.
Calories aren’t much of a problem because I allow myself to average over a week (or 2 or 3 if I’m away), and I use my exercise calories.
Tracking is difficult because I’m away from home such a lot – holidays, days out, family occasions ......
We don’t generally get calorie values on restaurant meals here in the UK and of course eating at friends or family homes is also a guessing game.

Sun Sept 12
Exercise - 15 min MommaStrong video, probably 40 minutes of stretching, and 40 minute walk (such a treat to have so much time for all that - my wife came back from her trip and so I got extra time and felt like I deserved to spend it on taking care of my body first instead of other "productive" things)
Tracking - Yes
Calories under - Yes
What's hardest?
The exercise requirements for this challenge are minimal - I've had to squeak by sometimes, and I'm definitely inspired by some of you who do serious exercise, but I haven't had trouble meeting it.
Tracking and staying under - I plan my food the day before. The trouble comes when I either see the day ahead and decide I am going to have a pass day (i.e. for the fair) or something happens and I get thrown off track and don't follow the plan. My failure to track and eating over calories comes simultaneously then.k

Yes, yes and yes
Walking and a lot of movement (lifting) at work later in the day setting up for an outdoor concert. I was pretty tired at the end of day.
Exercise is pretty much a given for me but I find the actual recording of information challenging. I typically eat known foods and calculate my calorie content throughout the day in my head. I record the info in the evening though I am working to get around this and be more proactive at recording in advance or as I eat them.
@Healthymumlife I really enjoy your beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing.3 -

Tracking everything I eat into MFP is the most difficult of the 3 rules for me to stick to, because sometimes it means approximating and that takes effort to do. That's why I decided to do UAC, to challenge myself to make a better effort at tracking. I've been trying to lose 5ish vanity pounds for so long now, and what it takes to do it is the discipline of tracking consistently!

Today’s report…
Exercise: more than 4 hours of walking ( but I only count 3 hours for calories output)
Tracking: really good
Calories: under my limit
Ive made a habit of doing this too..... tracking right away after any caloric intake.
And I've found that if I pre-plan and pre-log my day, then I can finiggle items around what hubby is making for supper that day and it's helped me to come in under my calorie goal SO MUCH MORE OFTEN! I'll do it either the night before, or early that morning while I'm eating breakfast. I've also found that mindfully and purposefully increasing my protein (currently I'm shooting for 100g/day) has SIGNIFICANTLY decreased my hunger throughout the day.3 -
The hardest for me is staying below calories and tracking dinner-because hubby makes dinner-I usually don’t know what it is-and I’m usually off to assisting with homework or being the mom taxi
But big news for me-I met all three criteria yesterday!
Exercised-1hour walk then ran for 20 minutes
Stayed below calories-had like 200 to spare

@bookieNJ I'm in the same boat. Hubby makes dinner every night because he's retired and at home - and I'm still working! I've gotten in the habit of asking him every morning what's for dinner so that I can enter it into my food diary and then work around that meal to figure out the rest of my day. Most of what I eat for breakfast, lunch and snacks are the same few things, so it's just a matter of copying/pasting. When I'm finished, if I'm "over" for the day, I can edit and lower the ounces/grams of items in my diary to make sure that I'm going to come in under for the day. The key for me was to learn to log it BEFORE I ate it!! Lol.
EXCITED that you met all 3 yesterday!! CONGRATS!!2 -
Exercise:
Wow, I ran 7 miles this morning! (The all day rain and thunderstorms forecasted didn't materialize.) 4 weeks from today is the 15k!!!

Calories:
I know that this challenge isn't really focused on weight loss, but I have to mention that at today's weigh in I flew past the 50lb loss milestone and hit 52.2 lbs. Between that and the 7 mile run, what a great feeling of success!!!
IMPRESSIVE!!!! I'm so excited for you!!! CONGRATS!!!1 -
Congrats @bradkcrew just look at how far you have come already. You are already knocking on the door of a 15k run! And it gets easier as you shed the weight!4

Started off with good intentions, but somewhere just needed food and started grabbing what was convenient without caring enough to measure or even approximate for tracking. This weekend, I just didn't have the mental energy to track, but usually the most difficult for me is exercise.
Very honest brising86 - - I have so many of these moods that it's hard to keep track BUT this group is like an angel on my shoulder encouraging me to not give in (or up!) Hang in there!3 -
