Can I be moved to maintenance? It seems I keep losing/gaining the same 1 to 2lbs I think this will be the sweet spot for me
CW: 151.2
I just want to make sure this is done - no one answered me and I don't want to get dinged for not weighing in
Thx
You are now officially in the Goal Zone! You should keep weighing in weekly just to make sure you are holding steady. I put your maintenance zone as 150-155, but you can change that at any time. If you go over 155 for 2 weeks in a row, you come back to the "regular" team until back into your zone. The main difference is that your weigh-ins don't count in the team stats each week, but you're still here and one of the gang! There is a good maintenance thread as well if you have anything you want to share with your fellow maintainers. Welcome!
Thank you for the info & answering me! I appreciate it!1 -

Hey, Everyone! I’m brand new to the group and am looking forward to working hard to reach my goals to building a support network!
I’m turning 40 in just a few months and I have really slid off the rails over when it came to my habits and eating over the last few months! I really want to regain my focus and get back to my healthier habits and a regular routine. I’m from Northern Michigan and the winter is long and dark but exercise, good nutrition, and a motivating group will help me get through and stay focused!!

Yo! yo! yo! I'm back from my holidays which weren't holidays, more like taking my laptop to a different part of the country and carry one but there you go. How is everyone getting on?
I will have a look through the recent posts and have a good browse at the activities.
Hope you have all been having fun!6 -

Hi everyone.... I'm so happy to be back on MFP.....it's almost been 2 years that I'm getting back to being serious.... hoping to lose weight in preparation for Christmas and my married life that I'm beginning with my husband soon.8
-
This has been the wildest week of my life. Last Wednesday I gave birth to our perfect healthy baby girl we stayed in the hospital until Saturday and have been getting used to life with a baby for a few days now.
It’s amazing how much better I felt physically immediately after giving birth. I’m so much more agile, less in pain and everything is just easier. Even sitting is easier, despite having some stitches. Of course we’re still taking things slow, but we’ve been taking a little daily walk every day since Sunday. Today our walk was already a full mile! I’m definitely struggling mentally due to lack of sleep, problems with the baby’s eating and getting used to our new life in general, but at least I’m slowly getting my body back and things should start turning around soon. My husband is on paternity leave for 2 weeks, and his transformation into a doting daddy is amazing, he takes really good care of both our daughter and me.
I haven’t properly weighed myself yet. I tried my old scale but there’s definitely some issues with that one. It sounds like an excuse, but even with all this bloating I find it hard to believe I only lost 3lbs in childbirth when I gave birth to an 8.2lb baby plus placenta, lost all that amniotic fluid and was registered with 1lb blood loss. Baby’s first post-hospital checkup is on Monday so I’ll try the scale there - it’s at my maternity clinic so that’s the scale they’ve been weighing me on for the past 9 months.13 -

Congratulations on your baby girl, and she's a good size too! Yeah, your scale does sound more than a bit screwy! Glad everything went well and hope you manage to get some sleep!1 -

I was put on a diuretic on Saturday so that’s why my loss is so big. I have been watching what I eat and exercising so I am hoping at least a pound of that is weight loss!!😊5 -
Wednesday Maintenance

Welcome to the Shrinking Assets group @toriirving, @justanotherloser007, @pipsqueak34, and @Stefbomb2020!
@toriirving - The darker winter months take more effort for me to stay on track. I’m originally from Boston so I grew up enjoying winter activities like ice skating, sledding, and skiing; but it takes more time and planning because now I live in Alexandria, VA (just across the bridge from Washington, DC) and we don’t get as much snow. I’m hoping to incorporate more yoga, strength training, and walking into my routine this winter. Of course, nutrition is the most important consideration for weight loss or maintenance so I’m going to try making homemade soups. I think soup will serve as nice warm comfort food during winter and also allows me to incorporate beans for extra protein while I’m concentrating on building muscle.
Do you - or other team members - have any special seasonal adjustments you make to your nutrition or exercise routine?
@Stefbomb2020 - Congratulations on your upcoming marriage and welcome back to MFP. Do you have any insights to share from your previous experience with MFP? I’ve found it very helpful for keeping me on track and more balanced by consciously checking in each day and reflecting on my weekly data results.
Congratulations to @hipari on welcoming your daughter! And, welcome back from your travels @TheMrWobbly! I hope you enjoyed the change of scenery on the other side of your laptop at least. Sometimes even that can be reenergizing.
I hope everyone is doing well. My weekly check in day is Thursday so I’ll be back again tomorrow.1 -
@PatriceFitnessPal ..... indeed MFP had me on track successfully losing weight.... till I fractured my leg and was on bed rest. Only eating and taking rest.... but now I'm back... gonna shed everything....it would be my 1st Christmas in UK.... so I have to get back on track....
MFP daily tracking doesn't allow us most of the time to go off track... that's what I like2 -
Welcome to all of our new folks! This is a great place to stay inspired.

A little disappointed, but a pound is still a pound. I'm hoping for a whoosh sometime soon. I'll be paying attention to the accuracy of my logging and keep up on my water.5 -
I am new here, thank you for the welcome! I am 5'3 and 48 years old. I started MFP in June 2013 at 277, and for two years attempted to learn something about nutrition. I was able to add random walks and stop the buffets, which had me lose 30 lbs but then I was just stalled. I was on heavy doses of prednisone due to hives, I have been hypothyroid since I was 21, and honestly I was thrilled I wasn't gaining weight!! I could not figure out no matter how much logging I did what was really driving the hives (and when the hives are in full swing I don't really care that I am fat, and I don't care about nutrition either - it is hard to think of anything other than the hives).
Lent this year, I dug deep and went for some full mortification. I ate nothing I liked, and drank nothing I liked. My keyword was, "If it doesn't make me puke I am eating or drinking it" let me just say yerba mate is pond scum swill! But, I started losing again, and while it wasn't my goal the changes in my diet lessened my hives significantly! Enough to get off the prednisone!! I had been taking prednisone since 2003. I have been losing weight ever since.
May 15, I found out I had melanoma. So appointments, surgeries done. I am all clear for now. However, I was very grateful for the loose skin on my back! And I hadn't really picked up my daily walk yet at that point, I was losing all from nutrition. Being the super lucky duck that I am, my oncologist gave me IV iron! THAT was the point I was able to start walking and exercising again. I have fibroids, and they are trying to kill me. They waste any iron I have every single month. So that iron, has been a life changer!
In August my PCP wanted to start investigating why I have dementia. That has been just an awful revelation, so while I have a tiny bit of snap I was able to investigate little helps for the fog, and helps for the brain. The good news is I was tracking EVERYTHING I was eating, so I have full control over what is going on nutritionally. Added 260 calories of MCT oil daily to help, and taking some herbs and helpful vitamins for the brain, lowering carbs and sugar a lot (odd note: dementia is actually aggravated due to the brains lessened ability to use sugar, that is why the MCT oil works), and voila! I can think sometimes! Way better than before. I also can tell now when I eat or drink something that creates fog.
The daily walks that I picked up after the IV iron were a true lifesaver, one step in front of the other for what is now a 3.14 miles (yeah so I like pi). I am toying with the idea of lifting: definite maybe. And I am watching my nutrition like a hawk, with a mindset that it is about health only - brain first. I would like to keep my brain healthy as long as possible. I have read that exercise also helps with that, but I think it is more like "really active" aka "athletic" and I am not there yet. But give me time, I think I can do this. Memento Mori!!
When the stress gets to me I have prayer, and I love to say the rosary on my morning walks. I also have found that when things get overwhelming, keeping the logging and habits that I have acquired so far have just really mitigated the stress. I still have hives sometimes, but NOTHING like it was. So I am very grateful to be here, and I am grateful to be on this journey with all of you!! I am excited for my first time with fat to fit!

@hipari Congratulations on the little one and the new life3

Congratulations @hipari! Your body is going to take time to adjust to this incredible change. Don't focus on the scale, let your body do what it needs to do. It probably still needs lots of nourishment and as long as you are eating good stuff, the rest will come.
Yep, you are absolutely correct! I’m just curious to know how much of that pregnancy weight I lost during childbirth, to have some idea of where I’m at right now. I’m not trying to make any weight loss efforts now and won’t weigh in again until my own postpartum medical checkup in 6-ish weeks. Instead, I’m healing and regaining my physical abilities, starting with basics like getting up from a chair without using my hands to help, walking without getting out of breath and bending to pick things up from the floor. Lots of improving in terms of flexibility, agility, strength and endurance. Pregnancy was rough on my body. Still, my focus is on my daughter and getting used to life with a baby and trying to find a balance where the needs of all family members are met.3 -
@hipari congrats on your baby girl! Such an exciting time!🍼2

Wow! @justanotherloser007, you have a complex history and you’ve learned so much over the years! You certainly don’t seem to be ‘just another loser’ to me. 😉 You’ve managed to untie a lot of the ‘strings’ to make progress untangling your particular ‘knot’ or ‘web,’ which is likely to help us all reflect, learn and improve. Thank you for sharing your background and insights!
@DayanasLBSGoingDown - Welcome to the Shrinking Assets team. I’m looking forward to getting to know you and hear how we can best support you in reaching your health, nutrition and/or fitness goals.2 -

During my doctor’s appointment a couple of weeks ago, I found out my exact height. I always knew I was close to 5 feet and 4 inches, but not quite. I’m 5’3” and 3/4 so that changes my BMI a bit. I’m in maintenance now and feel comfortable with a range of 120-125 because that’s in the middle of the BMI ‘normal’ category for someone 5’3.” I’ll still consider 130 pounds to be my end limit target as I gain muscle, which is my current goal. This winter, I’m focusing on improving my flexibility and strength. Best wishes to all of you!6
