Going to try to use my gym room for my usual workouts this week and add in some boxing bag workouts to my already existing workouts to help with tone, get my heart rate up and hoping punching and kicking the bag helps with stress relief.I am also going to try & wake up early to do my workout before bub gets up cos pretty soon I will be back at work so i want to try to hve this habit cemented in before I start. I woke up at 5.30am today to try pull & this off so I better get my butt outta bed now, hve my coffee and get to it. Lol wish me luck. Lol! Xo11 -
Some benefits missing from the list!
Just 30 mins 5X a week ….
Decreases risk of heart disease, attack, or stroke
Helps avoid diabetes
Improves circulation
Helps maintain muscle mass & Makes bones stronger which increases chances of being self-sufficient/independent as we age
Lowers blood pressure
Improves good cholesterol-HDL
And many more..
Personally the biggest benefit I get is remember how difficult it was for me to walk before I lost weight & had my kidney transplant. I remember this every day on my walk as I charge up a hill. Definitely keeps my motivation to weigh my food, monitor calories & macro/micros & walk 10K steps daily.10 -

Lovely opening post. I suffer from depression and anxiety and I ended up injuring my ankle so badly I couldn't even walk and my mental health nose dived. I ended up with diagnosed CFS and Fibromyalgia. I remember literally having to crawl over my bedroom floor, wait 5 minutes and then climb into bed. As my ankle got better though non-use I managed to start walk. It hurt my body all over but I kept at it and now I'm mobile again and getting fit. looking back it surprised me how my exercise was propping up my mental health and how my body disintegrated with no exercise. My mental health is coming on leaps and bounds and it seems to be directly correlated with my level of exercise I do. I'm careful walking now. I broke my foot running down hill and hitting a big stone so I am very careful going downhill.
3x yes today. It was a lovely autumn/fall day here so I went for a 10 mile walk in the local woods. Really nice.
PS I know that although my CSF/Fibro improved with exercise but I know others are not so lucky and my heart goes out to them.9 -

Exercised?: Yes, a 2 hour long stroll. Unfortunately I can’t do my push-up challenge today, as I’m too hungover. I will make up for it tomorrow.
Calories?: Yes.

I'm eager to get back to exercise. At my follow up appointment in the 23rd I'll be asking what I can safely begin doing. Until then I'm restricted to keeping all lifting to under 20 pounds and should avoid being any more mobile than necessary, which my body reminds me of when I start moving around for a while. I am very thankful to have been quite fit and having done a lot of strength work going into this considering all of the nothing I have been doing over the last week. I'm sleeping very solidly though, and surprised how restful all this sleeping in is, and how well I keep responding to so much rest. My mind makes me want to be more active when I think too much about all this resting and inactivity, but my body is sending me all the signals to keep on resting. Quite weird, and it makes me a bit uncomfortable to be honest, because at some point I have to change that trajectory and not accept rest so much. I am probably just overthinking it all, though.
Today is obviously another pass day. I keep starting the day tracking with the intention to track everything, but have yet to do that for the whole day. I know I'm over calories, which I wanted, and I'm keeping my protein up as I wanted, and have managed to get sweet cravings under control since I slipped out of ketosis in the middle of the week. So I don't have anything to really complain about outside of not actually tracking my food intake...which is perfectly OK for right now...but needs to stop being untracked in order to get things back to normal. Until then things just remain acceptably abnormal as expected, as completely strange as that sounds.
I do think that checking in here daily has helped to keep things from going way off track, or just giving up and being irresponsible. It gives me a target to start focusing on when I can start aiming at that target again, and serves to remind me of progress made and potential for more down the road.8 -

3️⃣ Pass Days left
I had planned a pass day as we were celebrating DEDs 55th birthday. I tracked it all, but because I had a very light breakfast/dinner, and had done extra exercise I managed to stay under maintenance. Yay!
Great post on exercise. I totally agree with those benefits. I would add that exercise can give you wiggle room for celebration days 😂8 -

@WhatMeRunning You are doing great 😊 Your body needs deep sleep for healing and it sounds like it is happening, which is excellent. Try not to worry too much about changing the great healing approach you are on now — I promise it will happen and you’ll be glad for having taken the time to heal well. 💛5

@WhatMeRunning Wishing you a speedy recovery!!! So inspirational that you are posting every day!
Exercise: I have never run in cold weather...I just hate the cold. But, despite it being 43 degrees and breezy today I somehow motivated myself to give it a try. I had no idea what to wear so I went with a light ski jacket, gloves, and a hat. I ended up being a little too warm so I am going to have to experiment. I only ran for 25 minutes, but it went well! I am planning on a Thanksgiving fun run, so that is motivating me to get out there. But...snow is on the horizon and I might have to pull the plug, so let's say "tentative" Thanksgiving run. One just runs in regular running shoes in the snow? Feet don't freeze or get wet? How is this done? BRRRRRRRRR

@WhatMeRunning take the break as a well earned rest it’s kind of like starting a new job and wishing you had more to do and then wham! You have to much to do and not enough time to get it all done. Enjoy it if you can I know it’s hard as I was sidelined 4 yrs ago with a broken radial head there are times I wish I had the healing piece again…. not the pain and hard recovery work but the time to just chill and take the day as it comes thoughts and get well wishes with you.
I did some core work today and some rowing. Better form today. Tracked and logged.5 -

2 Pass Days Used.
@WhatMeRunning I'm so glad you're still checking in everyday.
@snowshoe072 I'm so excited you got your rowing machine!
@stella7x7 messaged me today to say that she's having difficulty getting into the community and into the UAC to post. She doesn't have a laptop, just her phone and all she gets is the blank white screen. I told her about the recent changes and that hopefully they're working on that. She said she's doing ok, getting her food meal schedule down slowly. But evidently trying to be active too fast. Every time she's tried to do something it gets her stomach hurting, so she's trying to take it easy a little more.7 -
@bradkcrew
Hi many eons ago when I ran it never really mattered to me how cold it was I would always dress for a temp about 20 degrees cooler then what it was as I ran my body got warm. I always ran in the snow with running shoes I would run in the road but that was then and this is now. Perhaps today I would use a pair of strap on yac tracks I believe they refer to them as a professional style. I don’t run any longer due to severe OA in both knees be mindful of your knees once you have OA it does not go away. Have fun on your Turkey day run stay warm 🦃6 -
@bradkcrew - I found this tool helpful when I started having to plan what to wear. It allows for some customization if you like dressing warmer or cooler. May not be a perfect fit for all but if you adjust variables you can get a good idea of what to consider.

I've taken yet another pass day. Today is my 11th anniversary with my wonderful partner so I made meat sauce with pasta which is one of his favorite things. He'd eat it every day if I let him. We also had some wine since I always add a bit to my sauce which commits us to finishing up the bottle.
I don't know if it's mental or what but regarding the benefits of exercise that I posted today ... I know I always feel a little high after a workout.5 -

Did I exercise? Today felt like a great day of exercise! I did a 30 minute Peloton Bike Bootcamp workout which was 17 minutes on the bike and 13 minutes of a full body bodyweight strength routine. I also walked 85 minutes. The weather here was FANTASTIC!
Did I track my calories? Yes, everything
Did I stay within? Yes
To the opening post, I have found exercise is almost making me emotional (in a good way) lately.
The weight I registered on the scale today was officially 100+ pounds lost. Sometimes it feels surreal. My mind hasn't caught up with the changes my body has made. I feel so much stronger - I am finding the inner athlete again.
Exercise has always made me feel better mentally throughout this journey. The benefits can't be argued!11 -
Congratulations @ashleycarole86 !!
That is a major achievement!!
Hang in there. Your body image will shift over your time in maintenance.
What helped me the most was getting tight, but still comfortable clothing. I’ve come to dislike baggy clothes, as they reminded me of trying to “disguise” my weight.
We’re here & many of us have gone through this. I do find exercise helps my body image - I guess another plus for our opening post today!
I also find body image is variable, so do be kind to yourself! You’ve clearly “got this!”
Congratulations again!!
