HOW IT ALL WORKS:
Every challenger weighs in on their chosen day, every week without fail! At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!

We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard!

To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Username:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):

If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you take a break, you are moved to the Support Team. You can remain on the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally.

Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone! You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team!

In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.

Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month begin!!

FAQ for New Shape Shifters Members

How do I post my weigh in?

    Userid
    (Day of Week) Weigh-in
    PW: 204 lbs (previous weight)
    CW: 202 lbs (current weight)
LTD: 12 lbs (optional loss to date)

How often should I post in the chatroom?

Whenever you have a question, suggestion, story, news announcement or just want to brighten someone's day!! There's never too much...and please share recipes, tips, laughs, challenges, cartoons, pictures of your pets, pictures from walks you've taken, etc...we love it all!!

What if I have to be out of town during my weigh in?

Send a message to one of the Captains (JessicaKrall8 or TheMrWobbly) in the chatroom or in a private message on MFP's mail and let her know your circumstance...if it's just for a week or two, you can be excused from the weigh-in. If you must leave for longer than a month, you may be moved to our support team until you return. When you're ready to come back, send another message and the MODS will move you back to active status.

What happens if I miss a weigh in?

If you're late, you'll be marked as LWI (late weigh in). If you fail to report in at all, you'll be labeled as NWI (no weigh in). After two NWIs, you're put on the drop list if you explanation has been provided. It's always best to let your Captain know what's going on and she'll make sure you're covered.

How do I sign up for the Step Challenge?

Send the Captains a message that you'd like to join, provide your daily step goal and tell her your favorite place to walk. It's that simple!

Do I have to re-register each month to remain part of Team Shape Shifters?

No, your membership will carry over month to month. The only place where this is NOT true is for the Step Challenge. You have to sign up each month to participate in it and this gives you the opportunity to adjust your daily step goal.

If I've missed anything or questions arise, just post them! We'll find the information you need as much as possible! Hope this helps!

    Welcome!
    Jessica

    Hello everyone!

It is Sunday morning here and I am ready to start the month. Very excited about our new team and getting to know more people! My name is Laura, I am 33 years old and I live in a lovely town in the Netherlands with my cat. There is a National Park fairly close to my home where I love to walk and take pictures. I also enjoy reading, singing, gaming, jigsaw puzzles and drinking piles of tea. I suffer from chronic fatigue so it can be hard to do stuff. My main focus is going to the gym 3 times a week. I wish I was able to go for walks more often, but lately I haven't managed. My diary is open (and very boring) and I am also happy to accept friend requests.

    Review November goals:
    - Steps of 10.000 a day were a total win!
    - Goal weight was 197.9 and my Saturday weigh in was 196.0 so another win!

    December goals:
    Steps 11.000 minimum a day
    Goal weight 192.2
Another attempt to focus more on protein. I want to get enough at least 6 out of 7 days of the week.

I hope everyone will have a great December with a lot of small victories and healthy changes.
    Good luck team! <3

@leni1us - I was posting a reply in last month’s Shrinking Assets space just as it closed and we moved here. So, this message is a bit out of context. I just wanted to respond to you after you took the time to answer the questions I posed yesterday.

Leni1us: “I've been on a low carb diet since February. This involved red meat, cheese, fish, vegetables, bacon, butter, berries, cream, etc. After routine bloodwork, my cholesterol was super high (300). High cholesterol runs in my family so...my low carb diet shot my cholesterol to the stratosphere. My Dr. wants me to follow a Mediterranean diet to get my cholesterol under control (I guess it's been proven to lower cholesterol). A lot of that way of eating is counter to a low carb diet - the focus is on beans, whole grains, fruits like pears, apples and bananas. Red meat, eggs, shellfish and high fat dairy are a "no go or very limited.”

Thanks so much for describing your shift from a low carb diet to Mediterranean. That’s a big change! The extra hereditary hurdle is difficult but it’s good you’re working with your doctor to improve your cholesterol numbers as much as possible!

leni1us - “I'm not trying to be perfect just continue to lose weight and manage my health.I ordered a couple of Med cookbooks. Hopefully, they will help me.”

You have a great attitude and solid approach to finding a path forward. I appreciate you sharing your approach so we can all learn together. We have different goals but we’re on a similar journey to improve ourselves. So, it’s helpful to learn from other experiences. Best wishes to you, and all the Shape Shifters as we start a new month!

    Sunday, December 05

    Exercise: no
    Steps: 11.645 / 11.000

    Ramblings of the day
Good morning team. I had an eventful Sunday morning. When I went outside in the backyard with my cat Tinus, we heard a lot of noise and flapping in the neighbours garden. Through the fence I could see there was a heron in his pond, trying and failing to get out. So I quickly took Tinus back inside and went over to his yard. His shutters were still down so my neighbour wasn't up yet. There is netting over the pond, but it has a hole in the top around the middle so I guess the heron somehow managed to get inside through that hole. Of course he was very afraid of me and tried to get out, flapping against the netting. I got a corner loose and open, at which point the heron thankfully had calmed down a bit. Just by walking slowly around the point, I could somewhat steer it towards the open side. It didn't take him long to figure out he could get out and he flew off shortly after.
While this makes for an interesting story to tell, I am also pretty annoyed it happened at all. This was totally preventable if the pond had proper and whole netting protecting the fish. There was no need for this poor bird to get so stressed, nor for the fish to suddenly have a killer in their home without anywhere to escape. The pond isn't that big so I am sure the heron made breakfast out of some of them.

The rest of my day was not as interesting. I washed and put on the fresh bedsheets which is always very nice when going to bed. My mood kind of took a dive later in the day and I had too much food. Nothing I can't fix within a couple of days though.
    Happy Monday everyone <3
