You made it!

Worn out already...been to Sprouts...made as many phone calls as possible. My primary doc left ...now I have to start over with someone...yada yada...so, waiting for a phone call...maybe in three days.
I did get enrolled in class...2 1/2 hours at the hospital in January...bring questions and they have people that will enlighten us as to what is going to happen.
I will catch up on with all of you later.
I did get that the secretary is back...yay, Mihani. And you're doing more renovating. Fabulous!
And, Carla...going a little hard on the carbonationlol...I love Bubly...yum to a soda stream!0 -
Thanks for starting December, Nance! I hadn't even noticed another month flew by! That's interesting there's a class for knee replacement. Makes sense though. Lots to know and prepare for with that surgery.
Carla, I have yet to actually use my soda stream. It was a Christmas present a few years ago and I like it in theory but it's so easy to buy the la croix. I always have several 12 packs of it around. But now you mention it I'm going to get it out and give it a try this weekend, being careful not to overdo the carbonation. LOL
I think I'm going to make a slideshow of my dog with everything being "mine" from my bed to the new rug in the family room to my yoga mat to my meditation cushion. No matter what I get he says "mine!" Stinker.
My stir-fry last night was SO good... I ate a huge bowl of it. Had brown rice and stir-fried (really water sauteed/steamed) broccoli, bok choy, green onion, snow peas, red and yellow peppers, purple cabbage. Soy sauce, garlic, ginger. I took some for lunch today but ended up eating the rest of the butternut squash and white bean soup that was in the fridge at the office instead. I will eat up the rest of the stir-fry the next couple days. The rest of the soups that I made last weekend were frozen in portion size containers. Yay for easy lunches next couple weeks!
I'm going back to my salads for one meal starting Saturday too. I enjoyed the week away from all the raw veggies to be honest, but I actually started craving salad again a couple days ago. Guess my break was a good idea.

Good morning sweet peas!
Lunch is packed...taking along four juices and a salad and a banana. I do love having the juices ready to go on my work days...getting meals ready for 12 hours has always been a challenge. So glad they had so many holiday sales...freezing it all...defrosting when needed.
Tuesday I did go to Costco...returned a pretty new Vitamix (bought 10/18/21 NOT one sale). But ordered on line the next one up...and IT WAS ON SALE.
It arrives today. My Vitamix died several months ago. Not worth fixing.
Then I did make it to Lazy Boy...spent several painful hours there...walking back and forth. Had a great sales lady. Decided on a love seat and a three seat sofa...kaki material...cute accent pillows. And the cushions will be custom made...they have special foam I guess it is for really heavy people...I ordered that. I want as firm as I can get it. As is, it's pretty good...but I want to be sure there is no sinking when I get up. That is what puts so much strain on my knees. Six months for special orders. -sigh- Oh well, it will be worth the wait.
So...
coffee
juice
juice
salad
juice
banana
juice

Thanks for moving us into December, Nance. I'd still be in Nov! I love all of your Christmas themed gifs. I use my Vitamix all the time and would have to replace it asap...cool that you got a better model and on sale. I can't believe how long it is taking for things like furniture to ship. At least you have it ordered and its in the queue.
I can't believe you haven't used your Soda Stream yet, Mihani! It is extremely easy to use. You just put your container in the device with water in it and then press the button. I read that you want to press it for 2 seconds at a time, and do that 3 times. Depending on how you like the carbonation level, you can add or subtract a few 2 second pumps. The first time you use a CO2 cartridge you might need an extra pump or two to get things going. I think I pumped that sucker maybe 6 or 8 times before I read online how much to do it. That's how I ended up burping every sip lol
The home baked cookies that Joe's mom baked arrived in the mail yesterday and I over-indulged, so it's no surprise that I woke up this morning with a nasty headache. Maybe that will help me stay on track today. I'm making pea soup today with some Field Roast sausage. This time I'm going to cook the 'sausage' on the stove separately to help with the integrity. It was too mushy in the IP.
Joe and I are going to try getting a walk-in appointment for our covid booster shots today. If we can't get in I'll make an appointment when I get home. We aren't going out much, but we'll be seeing family over the holidays.
Today I'm hoping to finish up the Christmas cards. They have to get in the mail, especially the ones to Canada if there's a hope of the recipients getting them on time. I'll try to remember to snap a pic of one. I think they turned out cute.0 -
Yay for new furniture Nance! I'm jealous of your vitamix. I have a decent Kitchenaid blender that has worked fine for me though, and I just can't justify spending that much for a vitamix when I've been spending so much money on the house remodel the past couple years. Maybe one of these days.
Mmmmmm (Homer drool) over the cookies, Carla. I know, I know... I should get the soda stream out and use it! Hope you remember to post a pic of your cards. I love your artwork.
I can't remember and not sure if I mentioned, but my contractor finished the family room! It is absolutely gorgeous. I have to do some cleaning this weekend. He does a pretty good job of cleaning up but there's a lot of dust and since the kitchen and family room are open there's a fair amount of dust on my kitchen counters. I'm so happy with how things have turned out, even though I had to wait a long time for him to get back to me his charges are so reasonable. If you do great work at reasonable prices you are in demand!
Tons of work to do this weekend. I am going to do some chores and laundry tomorrow morning then work the entire rest of the day here at home, plus Sunday morning, then going to visit a friend and on to a hair appointment, then back home to work more. I'm planning two days working from home next week because I have major projects that MUST be done before end of year and there's just no way in the office with constant interruptions. I would love to have a few consecutive days in there where we aren't running around with hair on fire, but it doesn't happen.

Show us your family room if you can find the time in your crazy schedule, Mihani!
It's snowing here! First snow of the year. I can see the grass peeking through here and there, but it still counts. We even bought one of those sledding discs the other day so that we can have some fun on our little hills if enough falls.
Here are the cards. Still not out the door. I'm going to put down my knitting and get them ready today.
Have a great Saturday!0 -
Oh how cute, Carla! Love the cards.
I'm going to make glowing spiced lentil soup for dinner tonight. It's an Oh She Glows recipe. I have said before and still stand by the statement, that Angela is gifted when it comes to soups. I have tried almost all the soups in her cookbooks and quite a few from her website. Never found a loser. Oh, Nance, that is another one I have successfully frozen and it is very easy to make. Here's the link: https://ohsheglows.com/2016/04/03/glowing-spiced-lentil-soup/
Been getting lots of work done today but now I think I'm ready for a nap!
The family room is still covered in a fair amount of construction dust and furniture not arranged but I will get a pic of it soon. Hope to get it cleaned up tonight. Still need to do laundry. I also finally have shelves in my pantry closet so I need to get some things put away that ended up being "stored" on the dining room table. Mostly canned beans and tomatoes.
B - ezekiel english muffin with kite hill chive "cream cheese"
L - big ol' salad with ginger miso dressing
D - glowing spiced lentil soup, bowl of fruit probably apple, grapes, blueberries sprinkled with cinnamon and cardamom

Morning all...today is my MON and FRI...lord, I love my new schedule. I am so glad that four years ago, I stepped up and said I would like to try the weekend shift as long as I can still work 40 hours a week. (we had gone through 5 receptionists in one year...they did not like working weekends)
So I worked Fri - Mon and worked forty hours
That created the opportunity for me to no longer work on Sundays and work 12 hours on Monday. Originally, I thought I would lose Mondays (it was just 7 hours) giving me a four day weekend...but boss said, no...but he would like take away my Sunday. I said ok... yesterday was my fourth week at this new schedule...it keeps getting better.
Had coffee with next door neighbor yesterday, on patio. It was lovely to sit outside with Lulu and chat...while sipping hot coffee.
today's menu
coffee
squeezed juice
forks over knives frozen meal (new at Sprouts)...pricey...but wanted to see how it was...might be something that would work when I am rehabbing.
squeezed juice
Daring canjun chkn (this stuff is crazy good)
my own juice...pineapple, ginger, cucumber, lemon
LOVE my new vitamix. Came with two extra cups...one large for making smoothies..and one small for making dressing or PEANUT BUTTER. Very cool.
Looking forward to seeing pictures, Mihani.
Jealous that you have snow, Carla. Maybe one day I will take a trip up to Flagstaff...with Lulu of course.

Hmm, might be time for me to pull out my OSG cookbook and find a new soup to try. I need to make up more of that butternut squash soup soon, too. It's so festive tasting, perfect for this time of year.
So happy that you love your new work schedule, Nance. I was wondering how that was going. And your new vitamix! When/if I need to replace mine, I'll keep an eye out for one with extra cups.
I had to pull back and redo a days worth of knitting on my shawl project, so yesterday was frustrating, but today with some luck I'll make forward progress once again. Once I finish this section off (hopefully in the next few days) I'll post a progress pic.
All of the Christmas cards were dropped off in the mail yesterday. Whew! So glad that I have those finished. They took an obscene amount of time!
Here are the results of yesterday's dye project. I think I'll take today off while the snow outside melts away and then head back to the dye studio tomorrow. Not the best pic but you get the idea. You can see our snow in the background out our window.
Yesterday we ate a vegan holiday roast. I don't know the brand, but not whole foods or gardein. That's all we had. Roast with gravy, and then cookies. *sigh* onward and upward. we're making some spaghetti with baked tofu tonight and that will last us for 3 meals. We do a homemade sauce and add lots of veggies, so it is a good meal.0 -
Geeze oh pete... lost my post! I'll try to start over.
I had said that I am home early but before y'all start celebrating I am home to work. Also working from home all day tomorrow and Thursday and part of the day Wednesday. I just HAVE to get some of these things done that are due end of year. It's not that I can't do them at work but it's difficult with the constant interruptions.
I didn't end up making the soup on Saturday. I had a big ol' salad instead and will make the soup tomorrow. Tonight is "fajitas" which is basically refried beans with sauteed peppers and onions and a sprinkle of nooch on whole wheat tortillas (edited to add that I also put baby arugula on the fajitas... gotta have some greens!), toasted in a pan until crispy. I am going to try making my own tortillas one of these days. The store-bought are so meh. I am going through one of those stages where I am raring to go with cooking or totally not into it. Which reminds me...
Nance, so glad you are happy with your new hours at work! And that you got to have company on your beautiful new patio furniture. Have you had your class yet about your knee surgery? That's so cool that FOK is doing frozen entrees. I checked their website and nowhere near Ohio yet. Hope it's successful and makes it here.
Carla, love the yarn! And what a pretty view from the window too. Sorry about your knitting do-over. That is exactly why I am not good with crafty/artsy things. I have no patience for the do-overs. Onward and upward... enjoy the spaghetti.
0 -
Quick note...do not waste your money on FOK frozen...awful I had the penne something or other...ugh.
You're better off boiling some pasta, use your favorite sauce and add veggie.
Still at work...but had to tell you...they will get traction from the name, FOK...but then you eat them...no way. Unless the others are really good.
Love the colors, Carla...purple is my color...lavendar...so calming.
Ok, later dollies.0 -

My brain works the same way, Mihani!
I have finished my family Christmas shopping...one present for all of them. Epson Fast Foto 680W
It takes your photos and puts them into the computer or some kind of electronic thing...not sure exactly...I found a guy on YouTube that knows all about doing this...Wayne Fox.
somehow, I ended up with all my parents photos...going back to before my sister and I entered the picture...(hahaha)...and I need to do something with them fast...I thought about going to Costco...but they do not do it anymore...and then the cost would have been crazy...
I HAVE A TON OF PICTURES...
Anyway, got a pretty good price on this thing Black Friday, Best Buy. Now, I just need to unbox and figure it out.
Today, I have things scheduled, so hopefully, I will get to it tomorrow sometime...at least get familiar with it.
I won't get to all the pictures before Christmas...it really will be a project for me during my rehab. But I need to know if I even like it before the return deadline...mid Jan.
I'll keep you posted.

LOL that's my brain for sure Mihani!
That's a cool & thoughtful gift, Nance. I'm interested in what you think about it. I also have old photos and I think my parents have a ton (though they had a flooded basement, so I will have to check to see if the photos survived).
Won't be making much knitting progress this week on my shawl. I've got to finish those Christmas hats! 2 more to go plus the last little bit of the one on the needles.
Testing week for work, and then 3 weeks off! I will be continuing my current obsession with dyeing and knitting, assuming the switch stays flipped!
Spaghetti last night was yummy. I remember something about fresh leafy greens...salads? Yep that's what they're called. Time to start eating those again!

Very cool, Nance. Let us know what you think of it and I might do the same. I have boxes of pics from my parents that I should do something with, although I'll more likely dump them on one of my brothers who is good with that sort of thing and let him deal with them. Sorry to hear FOK entrees weren't what you were hoping.
Yay for 3 weeks off Carla! I wouldn't even know what to do with that much time off but I sure wouldn't mind trying it! LOL
I am taking a break from work because I worked on a file ALL morning that made my stomach hurt... seriously this should not even be a thing to be this stressed all the time. So I didn't take time for lunch but now I'm doing a late lunch/early dinner thing before I get back up to my desk. Brown rice in the rice cooker and veggies and greens all ready to go into the skillet for a quick steam/stir-fry. I have green onion, peppers, beets, zucchini, beet greens, collards.
B - ezekiel english muffin with kite hill "cream cheese", bowl of blueberries and diced apple sprinkled with cinnamon and cardamom
L/D - the stir-fry and brown rice, and later tonight maybe a small salad and more fruit

Home, home, home, yay! I was working until 8:30 last night. Spent about 4 hours in the office this morning and now home and taking a little break before I head up to my desk. Working from home all day tomorrow. I am feeling a teensy bit more confident that I can finish some of these projects. Going to have some leftover stir-fry for lunch. It turned out great. I am craving stir-fry a lot more than salad with the cold and snowy weather, but I do need to get back to daily salads.
I think all my presents have arrived so I'm done other than running to the wine store for a few bottles as gifts. Pretty sure I still have plenty of wrapping paper on hand but I should check that.
B - ezekiel english muffin with a smidge of almond butter, small bowl of mixed berries with cinnamon
L - leftover stir-fry veggies with brown rice
D (planned) - big ol' salad with chickpeas added, an apple with a smidge of almond butter for dipping
Also going to make the long delayed soup tonight although since I have all this stir-fry to eat I will probably freeze it all in portion sizes.

Yesterday was the day from hell...whatever was going to go wrong, went wrong. I'll spare you the details. But the saying "tomorrow is another day"...perfect, because today is so much better.
coffee
juice
just egg, chao creamy shreds, spinach, taco sauce
juice
salad
broccoli and tofu stir fry with onions
ezekiel toast and a tab of homemade peanut butter ( IN MY VITMIX)
Lovely ladies...I have to scoot...later, dollies. Happy to hear you are getting a handle on some of your work projects, Mihani.
Carla, do you work from home? I didn't think you worked...how did I miss that? Only picked up on it when you said three week vacation.
Please, pictures of furry family members...please!

Nance... my boy, when he was MUCH younger. First day in his new home in fact. He was a stray picked up by some friends. About 6 months old there.

Okay, I've had enough...I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow morning and get back on track! My splurge will be 3 cups of coffee in the morning. At least 2 walks with the dogs every day and no sugar, other than from fruit.
Cute pic of your doggo, Mihani What a sweetie!
Glad your morning got off to a better start today, Nance! Yep, Joe and I both work from home. I work part time writing user manuals and testing software.
Posted Ruby the other day, so today Radar and "Kittens"

0 -
Haven't seen a pic of Radar in a while, Carla! What a cute little face, love his markings. I think I remember that picture of your cat... looks very relaxed LOL.
I'm with you on getting healthy habits back on track. I'm doing okay with food but still indulging in beer or wine on the weekends and going too heavy on the starches most days. Main thing is getting exercise. I did so well with the treadmill habit for a while but now it's sporadic again. Exercise helps my mental health too and seasonal blues are worse than usual this year.
I slept in a little since I don't have to travel to the office today. Having some breakfast and should be at my desk by 8:00.
0 -
Love the pictures of Radar and Kittens! Thanks so much, Carla...what a sweet face of that Radar!
And YOUR BOY, Mihani...gorgeous...that coat! So shiny!
Thanks so much for posting...I love seeing their faces and knowing they are great homes to be safe in.
Later...off to ... would you believe, CLEAN THE KITCHEN.
BTW, got all my pre surgery appointments made.
But not sleeping at all...so scared I waited too long and he will not be able to fix my knee. God, I hope it's fixable.
0 -
Poor Kittens in that crazy pose LOL I'll post a cuter pic of her later.
Weighed myself and threw out a few goodies. I feel bad about that, but they are the kind Joe won't eat and I just can't have the temptation sitting here in the house.
If the butternut squash I have on I have on hand is still good, I'll make the bnut squash soup for dinner. Otherwise, a can of Amy's chili and picking up fresh foods tomorrow.
Hope you get a bunch of work off your plate today, Mihani!

Carla, that soup is so good! I made it again a couple weekends ago and froze a bunch in portion sizes. Glad to have that and the other two soups I made and froze because the next couple weeks are going to be even busier than usual. I hate the end of the year at work. It's actually worse than tax time.
I still haven't made the golden spiced lentil soup but will do that tomorrow after work. Enjoyed my day working from home today and got through a lot of stuff, but a long way to go. Tomorrow I'm going to the office.
B - ezekiel english muffin with a smidge of almond butter (out of these and will try not to buy more... temptation with starchy foods is too much for me)
L - whole wheat tortilla with hummus, baby spinach, baby arugula
D - my salad is done for so I'm having another wrap and an apple... pick up salads on Fridays so I'll be back in business tomorrow
I think this weekend I will make a big batch of something with bean pasta that I can freeze. I'll have to look at some ideas but I'm thinking something with lots of greens and mushrooms and a creamy sauce.

Coffee...
juices today...three from squeezed.com
Cedar lane frozen lasagna...vegan...got it at walmart...heat up in hot logic
peanuts and raisins
apple
steamed broc when I get home from work
Kittens is so cute...I love watching Tik Tok of animals being goofy...like knocking stuff down...that's just crazy. I love when the mom says, don't do it...don't...don't and the kitty looks at her ...and DOES IT.
Then there is one of a puppy with best friends with a baby duck...they go everywhere together. Adorable.0 -
Just over four hours to go...
This morning it hit me while I was in the shower...facebook support group for total knee replacement and post surgery...found a group immediately...learning so much and super supportive...they get it and have so much helpful info...
that's all...hope you're having a great day, everyone.0 -
That's excellent you found a good facebook support group for your knee surgery, Nance. I agree, Carla's kitty is super cute!
Went out after work with a couple friends. Had fun. Only stayed an hour because I had to get home to the boy. I imagine him looking at the clock going okay where's the servant to let me out and get my dinner!
Picked up my salads on my way to the restaurant so I'm all set although I think tonight I will use some of those salad goodies in a wrap with the last of the hummus. I didn't eat while I was out so I'm ready for some dinner! Just ate a Dr. McDougall soup for lunch so I'm hungry. The only good thing about the colder weather is it's fine to leave my salad goodies in the car for an hour before I get them home and into the fridge.
I had store-bought hummus this week and honestly feeling like I don't enjoy it as much as my own homemade oil-free hummus these days. Maybe it's partly the slight guilt aftertaste with the store-bought.
So I'm making my own hummus this weekend, and I'm going to tighten up the diet by seriously cutting back on those starchy veggies and grains. I got home so late that I will wait until tomorrow to make the soup, but it WILL get done tomorrow. I got stuck at the office later than I hoped so didn't make it to the store before meeting up with friends, but I have plenty of food, so I will use what I have this week and save some $$ and time by not doing more grocery shopping.
B - ezekiel toast with a smidge of almond butter
L - Dr. McD soup
D - hummus and veggie wrap, maybe an apple
And two beers at the restaurant/bar.
0 -
How do you keep the salads fresh that your sous chef prepares, Mihani? That is so cool.
I like my own hummus as well. Oil free...and full of cilantro...so good.
So, I do think that the juices are helping with the inflammation. My knees feel pretty good. I have not had to ice during the night for about five days now. So, I am really gearing up for the surgery.
I would love to do a fast...my next shipment arrives 12/21 (five days worth) ... we have Christmas work party 12/23.
I think I am just good one day at a time anyway...so I will try and do just that...fast a day...juice and eat salad veggies...and so on.
Right now, I am getting in three juices along with eating...and I feel pretty good. I think having that hernia surgery this summer was perfect timing. It showed me how fast I can heal...and that my pain was so low post surgery...no meds were needed.
Now, it is not going to be the same with TKR...but I think our anti inflammatory life is going to help the cause immensely.
coffee
juice
cedar lane Shepard's pie (the lasagna was pretty good...will use it in my rotation of easy meals)
apple was awful...and it was a honey crisp...no taste. So, granny smith with peanut butter
juice
salad
juice
broccoli when I get home (have to make enough to share with Lulu...she loves her veggies)
Have a lovely day, you two!
Carla, working from home...that is really nice! Thanks for clarifying for me!
