At the holiday lunch last week, I saw people I didn’t see since COVID started (different buildings or different shifts) and true many had always been fit, but so many others got fit in this period. Especially from the over 50yo group, so it got me thinking.
I’m not shooting for ultra anything, just to get some strength and endurance (back).

Hi all! My name is Leona. I am 48 living in New Mexico. I've struggled with my weight all my life. I am just trying to get to a manageable place with my weight so I can be more active with my grandkids and maybe enjoy a vacation! I work full time, suffer from chronic migraine, and both my knees are in pretty bad shape. I am also trying to lose enough weight so that when I do need knee replacements, it will be a better recovery.

@TeresaW1020 I wish I could find boots with spikes for Vannie, she is so late she can’t get any traction and keeps tripping and falling and all of the little dips and valleys🤣. Sounds like you had a win-win day! Good for you for getting that workout in even though you didn’t feel like it, I am the same if I don’t work out, I definitely don’t sleep!
@Cornanda just keep telling yourself tomorrow that your legs hurt so good! I can’t imagine leaving Florida and going to a cold state! I am sure though that all the visiting will warm you up! I am sure that you’re pup will be fine while you’re gone, just so glad that the medication is working for him. Have a great trip!

@trooworld I love that graph that you put up, it is so true! When I look at my graph over a period of years, I think it looks like mountains🤣.

It was a great day today! I got to go to a spin class first thing this morning, I thought it was going to be a pretty relaxed day doing some cleaning and picking up a couple of presents. I wanted to get a bowtie for my little grandson, he loves bowties! Well… Apparently bowties are not in right now I walked all over the place trying to find a bowtie for my grandson, four hours and 17,000+ steps later, I finally got him a bowtie!🤣

@tammymccrady6278 Sorry about the loss of your mother. I lost my mom in 2016 and it was also a wake-up call to me. She was 69, and a lot of her health issues were due to her weight. It is really hard, but you got this and I think 27lbs in 6 months is great. Kudos to you.

That is great that so many of your co-workers had gotten fit. That isn’t always the case in these Covid times we live in.

Hi Team! Today has been fun. Hubby decided that for Christmas he wanted to upgrade my wedding rings. So, after trying on dozens, I fell in love and now they are on order and hopefully will be here before Christmas. We traded in my original set and got much more money than we had expected, so that was a nice surprise. We had lunch at one of my favorite places, Taqueria Tsunami and went to TJ Maxx to do a little Christmas shopping for a couple of my friends. This evening we are going to my staff Christmas party, which is always a blast. Especially since it’s NOT at my house this year!!

@laurelfit57 Holy cow, your butt and legs must me killing you! Be careful in all that rain. That's so cool your grandson likes bowties, you have to take a lot of pictures for when he's older. That would be fun if he still loves them as an adult!

Hey gang! I went to a nearby farm for a barn sale, I got some delicious white chocolate peppermint tea but of course I didn't go for me! I did get a couple gifts so it wasn't a bust. Yesterday I spent some time at the food bank farm which was fun, things are pretty slow right now since we're in fall but I harvested lettuce and broccoli. @trooworld I’m so happy that you decided to foster Daisy and yes, I also predict a foster fail. I hope she adjusts to her new home and gives you much joy.My rings are gorgeous! The engagement ring has a round diamond that is very clear and sparkly. It has three graduated diamonds on each side. The band is an eternity band with round and marquis diamonds. It’s borderline dainty and very pretty. I will also wear my pave diamond band that my husband gave me for our 6th month anniversary. I love that all three rings are distinct yet go so well together. Hopefully, I will get them before Christmas!
@Katmary71 Yum that tea sounds wonderful! Is it broccoli season? I bought some last week and it was the best I’ve seen all year. I love steamed broccoli with blue cheese dressing drizzled over it.
Hi Team! Yesterday, I decided to basically do nothing for a change. I did a workout and a little housework and then I just took the day off from work, projects, and even social media. I watched a lot of coverage about the tornados and all those poor people. My heart just breaks for them!And when that got too much, I watch holiday baking shows. Tomorrow is hubby’s doctor’s appointment where we find out the results of his lung biopsy. We are both ready to find out what is going on and get it fixed.

Hi Team! Wow, we are really quiet around here. I hope it's because everyone is busy getting ready for Christmas.
Today, I went with my husband to see his pulmonologist, and unfortunately, he does have stage one lung cancer. He will need to have the lower left lobe removed and will be seeing a surgeon to do that soon. The only glitch that the pulmonologist told us about is that on the PET scan it showed that he also has a thickening of the rectum and he has to see a GI doctor to find out what that is before they will schedule the lung surgery. So, we know some things and will have to wait to find out the rest.
I did do a good upper body workout today and my eating has been at an 80%.

Good morning everyone! Well this crazy weather of ours has me MIA. After that crazy rain we were having, we had a dump of a foot of snow!!! It takes forever to get anywhere. Typically to get to my gym, it takes 15 minutes, with all of the ice and snow it takes between 30 to 45 minutes , it is crazy around here. It seems that before Christmas there is so much running around, and right now it takes forever. Right now, I am sitting outside at the dog groomers. I normally drop Vannie off, then head home for an hour or do a few things before it is time to come back. With the crazy the roads the way they are right now, I don’t have time so I sit outside the dog groomers for an 1.5 hrs, crazy. If I am not checking regularly, it’s just a crazy Christmas season along with our roads. On Monday, the snow was so deep that it was about 2 inches up Vannie’s tummy. I had to stomp down a circular area so she could squat to go to the bathroom 🤣.
I am definitely just trying to maintain this week. We had a birthday dinner for my mom and daughter-in-law to be, then today I am going to a brunch at a dinner theater. If I can maintain I will be super happy!
I am so sorry I haven’t checked in much, I don’t see it changing much in the near future. I decided to take the opportunity, while waiting for Vannie to catch up on a few things on my phone, I am behind on everything!! :-).3 -
Hi! I'm back! My trip was nice, but not nice food wise. MIL had less quantity of treats, but better quality- ie- things I love and find hard to resist. My Mom is having some health issues and did not cook at all- so all meals out while we were there. 1 short walk- it was c-c-c-cold! The good news is the scale is only up 2 pounds. I expected 5! My dog did great, in fact, I think he is feeling better than when we left.
So, now it's time to get back to work and eat well between now and Christmas. I have my meals planned out and will get some exercise planned as well. I find it easier to get it done if I already know what's on the schedule for the day.
@TeresaW1020 - I'm sorry about your husband's diagnosis. I will keep on praying for him and for you too.

I can only speak for myself, but the radio silence has been my unwillingness to think about my weight loss goals. There is so much stress this time of year in a normal time. Right now, work is a a stressful mess, and still worrying so much about my dad. I had a slight breakdown yesterday, so hopefully now that it's off my chest that way, I can move forward a little better.

@laurelfit57 Thank you! We are also hoping for a plan to get hubby better that doesn’t take forever. Yikes on getting all that snow! I’m not one bit envious of you having to deal with all that. I would love a nice inch or two. 😉 And don’t worry if you can’t check in every day. We are all busy and shouldn’t feel any added pressure.
@Cornanda Thank you for your prayers.I think only having a 2 lb. gain is great! Let’s just get through the holidays without beating ourselves up or diving too deeply into the sugar and it will all work out in the New Year.
@leonadixon You are under a lot of stress and the last thing you need to do is to feel stressed about your weight loss goals. I feel the same way right now. But what if we switch our thinking from weight loss to health goals. Can we eat a little healthier at some meals? Can we get in a little more water and exercise? We have to do what we can and be kind to ourselves.
Hi Team! Went to work today in the office and then came home and did a workout. This evening I will be with the kids at church for our Christmas party. That should be crazy and fun!Hubby has to go tomorrow to have a brain MRI to rule out anything in that area. We are just taking it day by day and trusting God to see us through. My eating was pretty good today but there might be a cupcake happening this evening.

Well, it's Thursday and the weekend is almost here!
Opened a bag of chips yesterday- that was a mistake! Have vowed not to eat any today. Did a nice, sweaty step workout today. Been enjoying some walks since the temp is much nicer here than it was up north. Forgot to mention my NSV of needing new, smaller jeans! I'm excited about that. I don't have much holiday stuff left to do- the biggest thing is the wrapping. I like to do it in my garage with the door open and the sun shining in while I listen to Christmas tunes. (Apologies @laurelfit57 and any other northerners who are having yucky weather.) I set up a big table and then I can leave all the mess right there until I'm done.
@TeresaW1020 - one day at a time is a good way to take things with your hubs right now. Maggie Mae is super cute!
@trooworld - when you have a chance can we get a pic of your sweet Daisy? Haven't been able to add a photo in a long time, let's see if this MFP upgrade fixed it. Here's my little guy:
As far as discussion questions- it's probably a bit early, but I've started thinking about how I've done this year and what I'd like to work on next year. We could also talk about how to minimize damage without depriving yourself through the end of the year.3 -
