This month I tried fasting for 24 hours, and I liked it! Much easier than I expected. Not many months ago going 8 hours without eating at night seemed like a huge challenge to me and I never expected to fast (voluntarily) in my life. I also tried brewing kombucha this month. I like doing that too.
Today I am fasting until supper. For my first two 24 hour fasts I worked out fasted right before ending my fast. Today I plan to walk some throughout the day and let my FitBit track the exercise for me. My non-scale victories are trying out new habits. I will add my results tomorrow. I tend to be one of the last ones to post here many days.7 -
My NSV:
I’ve realized the past two months that I no longer eat when sad or stressed. I seem to have really accepted that eating won’t help.
I make a plan to fix a situation or accept that it cannot be changed & let it go.
Hiking, nature, learning, organizing, creating, relaxing, reading, & yes, sometimes, weeping are my substitutes.8 -
I was just saying yesterday how I’ve been consistent with exercise… errrr, I got a covid booster jab today and ended up missing my class but I did track and stay within budget.

Exercise – yes
Tracking – yes - guesstimates
Calories – yes ?
Pass days – 0
Long bike ride this morning and gym workout later, but went out to lunch with friends. I chose prawn cocktail – rather a lot of creamy dressing – and game casserole. There are very few database entries for game casserole but I think if anything I over-estimated. The prawn cocktail was more difficult – I think the dressing was based on proper (ie not low fat) mayo. I wish I could have picked out the prawns and left some of the dressing on the plate but it was too delicious!
However, no dessert and only water to drink has kept the calories within my limit – lots of exercise calories available.
NSV – this month at last I have managed to get back to the gym. I have been several times now and hope the habit is getting established. I’ve also rejoined the planking challenge after missing a couple of months. Another habit to get established again.

Today: ✅✅✅
Yesterday was emotionally trying and ended up being pass day #3. I think I literally ate half the jar of Nutella.
I’m feeling frustrated that I can’t get my food right so today I called and made an apt with a nutritionist for the end of the month. I think that was today? I have no concept of time right now. Maybe they can figure out what I need to do to finish the journey to maintenance. I’m hoping they’ll do some vitamin deficiency testing too because I really think my compulsive need to eat anything high in B vitamins despite taking prenatal vitamins daily is trying to tell me something (not pregnant just like the added stuff like iron and folic acid since I don’t eat meat).11 -
Wednesday December 15
✅✅✅ for today
1 pass day used (December 13)
NSV
1. I am enjoying my treadmill walking now and I don’t watch the clock every couple of minutes to see when I can be done.
The YouTube walking videos are helping! I walked through Mykonos and areas in Hawaii over the past week. Sunshine, nature, busy cafes and conversations as we pass, and wave sounds. I am nowhere close to the steps and length of walks I was doing in the summer and fall (before the ice and snow arrived) - but I am hopeful I will be able to extend my time.
