Shape Shifters Team Chat - DECEMBER 2021

Good morning Shifters! This little guy looks like he's eating his veggies this morning AND getting ready for Christmas...isn't he cute?! LOL Made me smile.
So, it's the last week before Christmas...how many of you are running around trying to finish things up to get ready?! I have a few errands to run today...gotta pick up the ingredients to make a Hashbrown Casserole for a Brunch/Lunch potluck at work for Wednesday. Other than that, my day should be fairly calm. I have two piano lessons to teach from 2-3pm. Only two weeks away from closing that chapter of my life. Looking forward to freeing up my evening and weekend schedule, I'll tell ya! I'll miss my kiddos though. They're a sweet bunch.
Got up early and walked a half mile. Will do another later. I've been pushing myself on the walking front this week and I'm going to still try to do an intentional mile every day and hit my 6k step goal each day but I've been going way over both of those numbers and my knee and right foot are complaining a bit today. So I'm going to rest a bit and read this lovely book I started yesterday called Christmas in Vermont. It's starting out to be quite nice. Yesterday I read The Christmas Table and it made me cry...very sweet book by the same author of the Christmas Shoes (movie on Hallmark). I love holiday reads.
I hope all of you have a wonderful Caturday...my Hazel is all stretched out on the floor after breakfast and a couple of rounds of "chase the string"...she's got the right idea, I think!
Enjoy your day!

We just got back from being out of town for a week. I actually lost half a pound when I got home but we had Chinese Thursday night and I was up a bunch overnight due to the sodium. It’s been a stressful week as I have been unpacking and trying to get gifts ready to ship. I haven’t even been to the grocery yet. My goal this week is to survive! Today is wrapping day.
I got word yesterday that my son, who lives in DC, has Covid again (fully vaxxed and boosted) and my daughter, who lives in Houston, has been exposed and is showing symptoms, but is currently testing negative. She’s also had it before. So, Christmas may be delayed and condensed. They both originally planned to come for a couple weeks and WFH part time, but because they both have commitments for New Years Eve, they won’t be able to just push back their stays.
So, I’ve got to stay flexible. I’ll delay holiday groceries until I know they’re on the way and just try to pick up basics for some simple meals this week. I need to remind myself to just “Breathe!”5 -
Afternoon All, this was a really busy week for me and I didn't realize just how tired I was until I laid down this afternoon and fell asleep...glad I got my walking done early or it likely wouldn't have gotten done today. This next week, although only a partial as far as work is concerned is going to be insane with activity. Thank goodness I'll be working from home, although Wednesday morning, I have to bake that casserole I mentioned earlier and go into the office at 11 for a potluck. After that, the rest of the week is a flurry of piano lessons and festivity. One of my colleagues is bringing over dinner on Thursday evening and wants me to play Christmas music for her on the piano.
Should be a fun week...
What are your holiday plans? Would love to hear about your adventures!!

Ramblings of the day
Good morning team. Not a great Saturday. Some positives: I got the new furniture for Tinus and my tea. The tins were already sold out so I am getting some money back from them. Not a big deal. Some negatives: My plants never arrived. The tracking said the package was on its way most of the day, and later it changed to 'being processed'. I am pretty bummed about it because I was really excited about setting them up. Instead I get to worry about the plants surviving the transport and being in boxes until Monday. I highly doubt I will get them today because it's Sunday, but I will hope anyway. Another negative is that we went into a pretty serious lockdown again. Which means everything has to close except for essential stores. Meaning the gym has to close too. This will be for at least a month but could be longer. I will try to go for more walks, but December is a very wet month here so not sure how that will go.
I have no plans for the holiday. I will stay home, cuddle Tinus and maybe eat some Christmas cookies. I am not really big on holidays, I hate fireworks and my family doesn't live close. Also with the state of the world, throwing parties and visiting people isn't the best idea anyway. I don't really mind though! I will have fun on my own. Happy Sunday everyone4 -
@Pupowl
I understand governments' concerns, but these lockdowns really need to stop. We have vaccines and treatments that are keeping more people alive if they get COVID. Enough of messing with people's livelihoods and the economy.
You can always walk inside! There are plenty of walking programs on YouTube. That's what I do when the weather isn't nice.3 -

@pupowl I'm with you on no plans for the holiday. I have a work colleague who has asked me to play Christmas music for her and she's bringing over dinner on Christmas Eve Eve...other than that, I plan to just do some reading, crafting, puzzle working and enjoy lots of holiday movies.
Very sorry about your plants...hope they survive and arrive on Monday. Remember you can walk in place, to music, to YouTube walking videos, while watching tv...you have lots of indoor options. Might not be as scenic, but it will keep you active. You're welcome to add me as a friend on Fitbit if that's your tracker and we can challenge each other this week! Search for JessicaK (Chesapeake, VA) and you'll find me.
I'm worried about COVID. I wish we'd go back into lockdown. Yes, it's harder on the economy but if everyone is sick or dying, how will THAT help the economy?! I don't mean to get political but everyone's concerns are valid. I'm praying that the predictions work out to be on the milder and not worse side, but I trust the science and that's what is predicting dire consequences. My heart breaks for those unvaxxed who will face it.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

Our daughter was christened today, so now she officially has a name! Two of her godparents stayed over for dinner after the party, and it was really nice. We also have a ton of cake left, and some of my husband’s friends are coming over tomorrow to play Magic the Gathering and eat some of it. The cake was supposedly for 10 people. We had 11 people in the party, and our pastor’s husband is a friend of ours as well so we sent a box of cake home with her. There’s still about half of the 10-person cake left after 12 people ate some.
I’m really tired of covid, but thankfully I’m not as affected by it now that I’m on maternity leave. At work it was my job to monitor the covid situation, make sure our internal policies are up to date and take care of all health&safety aspects of it. Now I’m just super irritated by the current situation regarding covid passes and non-vaxxers and omicron, but I’d rather just not get into it. Instead, I’ll load the dishwasher, take a long hot shower and go to bed.3 -

@CasandraW I hope your week improves.
@Pupowl I'm glad that some of your things arrived.Hopefully your plants will survive the journey.
@hipari I'm glad your daughter's Christening went well.I hope some of your visitors will soon finish off the cake !
@Jessicakrall8 I would love to sing along to you playing Christmas songs on your piano.That sounds so much fun.
I've still got some shopping for gifts to do before Christmas.Luckily I have a food delivery coming Thursday so I can avoid the supermarket.Plus I have hopefully my last physio for my shoulder injury this Wednesday.So a busy week.
Hope everyone gets done what needs to be done. 🙂

@izzyred9400 I could always connect with you on Messenger video at the piano, just like I do when teaching my piano lessons virtually...anytime this week we can find a time that works...Christmas song sing-a-long! You'd have to promise not to make fun that I don't have a Christmas tree up this year!

I’m really annoyed by several things this morning…
I have a date with another mom today to go on a walk with our babies and strollers, but might have to cancel. I tried osteopathy for the first time last week and the therapist worked on my sacroiliac joint, which has been really sore on and off throughout pregnancy. Now it’s so achy and painful I have trouble walking. The movement would probably be good for it, but not if I can’t tolerate it. Apparently it’s common for things like this to get worse before they get better after treatment.
I also need to stop bringing sugary treats to the house, apparently. Every time there is something available I can stuff into my mouth by just grabbing it without any extra preparation, I do so. Chocolates, cookies, anything that can be eaten straight from the container are gone within a few hours. So, those treats must stop. I’ve tried buying grapes and cherry tomatoes instead, but having to rinse them before setting them out on the table seems to be too much.
Lastly, my weight loss progress is greatly stalled by the first two points, and also I’m up almost 3lbs from yesteray, probably due to all the sugar and salt I had yesterday at the christening. Ugh. It’s weird getting a weight loss and health inspiration a week before Christmas, when everything is all about food and treats.7 -
@Chalmation
@jessicakrall8
Thank you guys. The gym was my only out of the house thing, so I would prefer to walk outside. My current daily steps are mostly from indoors already. I did use youtube videos in the past, so I might go back to that for a bit. Also considering putting my deskbike back for a while. I am not too bothered by the lockdown. It's just going to suck to lose all the gym progress.
@izzyred9400

Ugh. The scales are still up, the sacroiliac joint is still acting up, there’s still leftover cake in my fridge, and local hospitals are calling for a full lockdown, including gyms and group activities. I was really looking forward to starting my gym workouts again and that baby pilates group class. Also it’s so cold that it isn’t recommended for babies this young to be outside unless it’s needed for transportation and running errands, so no long walks either. And I get to go for a pap smear today, yay.5

Good morning team. Not much to report. My food has been really messed up the past two weeks. I am going to try to fix it starting today. My plants didn't arrive sadly. The track and trace says they will be here later today. I did get a few of the books I ordered so I am excited to read them. I will have a more fun post tomorrow, promise! Happy Tuesday everyone

Happy Solistice- 1st Day of Winter although there is no snow in SE Wisconsin- BOO😥
Today, we meet with genetics counselor for my husband's pancreatic cancer to see if our 2 boys will have markers for it as well.
Dr. bills have started even though we met our deductible for this year, but we start over in January so that will be costing us.
And of course, trying to get ready for Christmas.....5
