Is there a particular area that you are still mastering?
Prioritizing sleep & stress management
What other things have you had to get under control in order to be successful on this health journey?
Counteracting negative self-talk / challenging my negative assumptions and turning them into something helpful
What has been your biggest obstacle to being successful?
In the past, it was all or nothing thinking. "Don't let perfect be the enemy of the good". Rumination.
Do you have any tips to share that have helped you overcome a particular challenge you’ve had?
-Know the areas you're most likely to stumble, and have a plan to work around them.
-Track your food before you eat it.
-Track progress on habits so you have another metric for success outside of just the scale.
-Be proud of your journey and your success. I used to hide my attempts to lose weight. I have had so much more success to have a community of people to share my journey with.10 -
Pass Day #1 ... lack of exercise though so far I've tracked everything and have plenty of calories left for a late evening snack. I had to get up early and had only two hours sleep so wasn't feeling fit for exercise. Tomorrow will be a better day.6

Exercise? Does worry count? No? Then no, not enough.
Tracking? Yes.
Calories? No.
I was doing okay today... then I got an email from my daughter telling me her counselor and psych who prescribes her meds were trying to figure out if she needed to go to the CRC (Crisis Response Center) or to a hospital. We emailed back and forth because I couldn't leave work right away. When I finally was able to, the bus had to detour adding time (not that much but it felt like an eternity) to my trip. The decision was to send her to the CRC, and mobile team member was kind enough to wait for me to get there. She let me drive my daughter, while she followed. We got to the CRC around 6. I left, without my baby, around 8:45. I was hungry, frustrated, worried and sad... I stopped at a fast-food place because... quick and easy. Did not make good choices. Don't care. She'll be evaluated in the morning to see if she gets to come home or will be going to spend time in a Level 1 facility. sigh... She's had some rough days. I was expecting this. Still.... I'm not liking it one bit.15 -

Another day of success!
Exercise; 30 minute walk
Tracking: Planned the day
Calories: Followed the plan - under!
Way past 3 pass days for this month, just for the record. But back on track.
A discouraging thing is that the results of the last 2 days of being on track are that the scale is way higher than it was in my week of not being on track! I do know that's the result of the autoimmune thyroid condition being triggered by the booster - the weight gain will continue for a while. But if I keep the good habits it will come off again eventually. But even though I know that it is discouraging!
I love the graphic this morning @Jana_2020 . I love how thoughtful you are about this. I try to be as thoughtful. The one picture I disagree with is changing one habit at a time. My pattern has been more to take either a natural break point in my life (changing jobs, switching to working from home, season changes) or a point where things are relatively smooth and I feel like I have the bandwidth - and then make a bunch of changes all at once and see how that goes. I can see how that might not be the best. But I find that in my ordinary day-to-day life even one positive change is too much and can derail everything. All the pieces are kind of stuck together so I can't change just one.
The one I have the biggest trouble with is set your environment up for success. The other people in my house are not following my same way of eating, and their treats are everywhere. I have a lot of trouble with that. I need to keep brainstorming ways to keep my mind off of their food. I do OK considering, most of the time.
The one I really try to focus on is "follow a diet and workout you enjoy." When I exercise I try to focus on how grateful I am to be able to do it. Right now I haven't done my normal morning MommaStrong videos for a week because of the booster. I am hoping to get back to it today and it's going to feel so good. I also try really hard to prepare myself appealing food within my calorie limits and to look at my meal and think how delicious it is. I do love vegetables. I get a lot more discouraged and start searching for snacks when I don't enjoy my food.
@tahm42 I have loved a difficult dog so I have some sympathy. My suggestion for dealing with your daughter/your guilt would be to consult a dog trainer/behaviorist. I am pretty sure they will tell you that a dog like that cannot be trained out of this behavior and needs to be put down. Maybe hearing from someone who knows will help make the decision easier.
@roma7774 thinking of you and your beloved.

✅✅✅ exercise was a 20-min dance party. I put on Mandisa's new song "Good News" and had my own little dance party in the living room! Lol. I did a facetime call with my sister, and tried to get her to get up with me and dance, but she wouldn't. She just laughed at me. Lol. I imagine that I did look pretty funny! Then later I took a 20 min walk OUTSIDE!! We still have snow on the ground, but it got up to 46(F) today and I desperately needed to get out and get some vitamin D! It's going back down into the 20s, over the next several days, and teens and single digits overnight. Brrrrr.
I'm on my way to work... so I'll come back later to read and get caught up!8 -
@seilidhe - sorry to hear about your daughter, but I’m glad she has so much loving support and is getting the help she needs. I understand why your mommas heart is heavy.2

The thing that I am still trying to master, is controlling the nibbling. That's what tripped me up yesterday. Thankfully it wasn't "junk" that I was eating, it was almonds, raisins, and dehydrated apples (DH got us a food dehydrator for Christmas). But even nutritious nibbles have calories and I did a little too much nibbling throughout the day, so it added up and put me over my calorie budget for the day. (That and the 6.7 oz grilled salmon I had for dinner. Salmon may be nutritious, but it has a lot of calories!)
After yesterday, the most important of the "How to Stay Consistent" suggestions for me is to "Get back on track if you slip up." It helps me to get back on track and stay on track by weighing myself every morning. It is especially helpful when I've had a little slip like yesterday. My weight was up a pound today (I know water weight mostly) and put me close to being at/over my Red Light number of 135. Seeing 134.8 put the fear in me that I need to do better to control the "nibbles." I plan on sticking to my planned meals and snacks and if I feel the "need" for any almonds, dehydrated apples, or raisins I will measure out a proper portion rather than reaching into the bag/container every time I go past the pantry.
Tracked - Yes, but approximated the nibbles
Calories - No, went over my budget
Exercise - Yes, a 3.55 mile run
Have used all my Pass Days but still a Champion.
@Jana_2020 thanks for the "How to Stay Consistent" reminders!

Welcome @makattack220 I'm really grateful for this group. The trick is to keep showing up, no matter your success or fail. No judgments here, just support. Looking forward to getting to know you as we all share our journey together ❤1 -
