@ashleycarole86 The steps are just from my Fitbit. Should I stop including my walks?
@kellie_erin I was sorry to hear about your rough day. Uggh. Sounds like a memorable one. Here's to better days!
Jenn2 -
Happy Thursday! Or not... I'm hoping your day is going better @kellie_erin Compared to getting stuck in the snow for 2 hours, my complaint for the day is minor! I also totally get that horrible feeling like somehow you should be invincible from getting stuck in the snow - we are supposed to be better than that! Right?? But guess what. Guys get stuck in the snow too, and wait around for rescue. I even know some of them who admitted as much in spite of themselves! So have a good laugh once you're all rested up, and one of these days I'll tell you my story of getting rescued by "Pickup Man" near Winnipeg during a day of insane blowing snow. My daughter and I will dine out on that story for life!
So my complaint for the day? One of my snowshoes is broken!!!! My life will be all upside down until I fix it! I don't want new ones! My snowshoes are 40 years old and it is amazing they have lasted so long with a lot of use. They are supposed to be invincible (like Kellie!) and infinite and eternal! I rushed right out to my favourite shoe repair place - they do everything. But they did not have anything like the right stuff. I found some repair stuff on line and will order pronto. Meanwhile, I actually did start to shop around a bit for a new pair, but my loyalty to the old ones runs as deep as a good snowdrift. I will fix them until they become unfixable. Which might be soon
In the grand scheme of things, a pretty minor crisis. But I'll have to find a different way to huff and puff for a little while.
Enjoy the rest of the day, all - some great weigh-ins happening! @ashleycarole86 in the 170s and everything. Woo hooo!6 -

Welcome @camping_els ! Dive right in2 -
@Megan_smartiepants1970 thank you
Hi everyone! I have a confession to make :-(
I am returning member. My starting plan was to just pretend that I am new member and start fresh but I don't really want to lie to you. Confession time
My previous username was ellz_runs. I think I've been in your team for so long and for many times I went into drop list for not participating. For many of those times I came back and said I am sorry, give me another chance and @jugar took me back into the team so I would mess up again
I do realise that each of those times I take a spot from more deserving member, but today I have hit the rock bottom. I realised that I made a huge mistake and everything feels overwhelming!
I am not sure if you remember that around September/October I worked as a kitchen assistant in a school and school cleaner in the afternoons. I loved the jobs and those kept me busy My step count was high to say the least! I also started new business and like with every new business there was a lot of money to pay out at first. I got into a little debt.....
Anyway .... My old boss from the hotel that I worked at asked me to come back to work as a chef and help him out. He offered me more money, too. As I was in a debt I agreed thinking I'll pay the debt off quicker. I worked three jobs for a while and then burned myself off I gave up the cleaning in high school! I soooo regret it now!
I hate the job as a chef! I left it for a reason and should have never gone back! :-(
In schools I had half terms, weekends and holidays off. Ok, less money and in debt but now I am still in debt and have to work all the evenings and holidays and weekends. Tourism was over in our area in December and January, restrictions came that our busy party weekends were cancelled and my hours in hotel were cut :-( Ok, I am rambling on now ....
Today I put in application form for cleaning job in high school lol but it is my local high school this time. It is only 2 miles away and I'll be taking my bike instead of the car (the previous high school job was 10 miles away). I am still going to work in hotel but I only need 4 months and my debts will be paid off. I learned so much lately about saving money! I joined about 4 Facebook groups with no overspending
Over Christmas and New Year I was so stressed out that I would have a bottle of wine every other night and that was expensive! I haven't had a drink for 10 days now and I am not planning on going back!
I am just hoping that I will be accepted for that cleaning job
I think last time I weighed in for a challenge with you I was 206?lbs. This morning I was 230!
So I really did hit rock bottom! And now the only way is up, right??
I really am ready, my fitbit is ready and I am really embarrased to beg you to take me back, please.
I realise only my actions in the future will prove what I wrote to you now, that I am serious about it.
Thank you

Work travel always gets me! Ugh. Need to do a better job of eating on the road and staying hydrated.6 -
@ells_bellz welcome back! Job and money stress is the worst. I had to add days without wine per week to the habit tracker in order to cut back, good for you for going cold turkey. You will accomplish this and we are here to listen and commiserate. Good luck with the cleaning job. I was a janitor in a couple of schools when I was in college and the Monday to Friday shift was the best cause I still had my weekends off. Hopefully you can find some balance5
-
@ells_bellz You know you are always, always welcome here not matter how many times life takes you on a detour. I well remember those days when you made crazy amazing numbers of steps because of your work, and I wish for you that the high school cleaning job comes through so it is easy to rack up the steps again. Getting your budget and diet under control is pretty similar - and the stress level will go down as the debt and weight do. Hang in there! I'm really glad you learned that the chef work is just not for you. Success is often discovering what does NOT work - and sometimes we have to learn those more than once In any case, hang out here as often as you can, come and post any time you are feeling like grabbing a bottle of wine or indulging in some mindless munching. You're in the right place!
@bowens1973 travel gains are a drag, but @ashleycarole86 gets the thrill of weighing less than you! She's going to fight hard to keep that going, too - so hold on to your hat and get back on the bike You'll be flying up those hills feeling trim and fabulous again in a few days, I'm sure.
I had better get on my bike here too - no snowshoeing today, and I was kind of grumping and did not go out for a walk either. Got a good strength workout and some Pilates done, but it is time to sweat.5 -
Welcome back @ells_bellz!
@conleywoods I will have to look that up. Last night was the worst! Mabel was hitting me in the face last night...at 3, Jonas got up and started playing...finally fell back asleep and Mabel rolled off the bed!!! She was actually fine and fell right back asleep. I love these kods, but I miss my sleep!
Due to my crazy night, I did sleep in, but I still did 20 min Barre and then 1p min elliptical when I got home. I logged my calories and was under.👊4 -
@jugar Bummer about the beloved snowshoes Liselyn... your comment was well fitting as earlier tonight I had to tease Brad by saying "did you look at me this morning and think, there's a lady who weighs less than me?" Lol - I am fairly certain there aren't many couples who had a similar start weight, similar losses, and are within 5-10 pounds and loving the competition of it. It's a unique but fun little place in life we are in and it's great having a built in accountability buddy.
Welcome back @ells_bellz and as the others have echoed, never feel like you have to slink back. Life ebbs and flows, things happen, it's great to have you back and I look forward to hearing how you make out settling back in!metaphysicalstudio wrote: »@ashleycarole86 The steps are just from my Fitbit. All good - just trying to make sure I'm counting everything accurately and not double counting steps. Thanks for confirming Jenn and keep crushing it

This week I've been eating fewer carbs and monitoring all my food intake. This makes me feel full of energy and generally lighter. The winter holidays always do me in and I'm glad to get back to feeling like myself.6 -
CW - 172 lbs
PW - 174 lbs

I am eating a ton of food these days and still going to bed hungry. I am just 4 kgs away from losing all of my stomach flab so I have to push through. Yesterday, I dreamt about eating a buffet full of the most delicious foods you can imagine. Atleast I was full in my sleep lol
This was a typical dinner this week. Over 2 pounds of yogurt, half of it with blueberries and zero calorie cheesecake flavor drops and the other with strawberries and zero calorie chocolate flavor drops. 722 calories, 63 g carbs, 4 g fats, 101 G protein. Both absolutely yum! Yea for volume eating!

@happimess01 Sam what brand are the cheesecake flavour drops? I'd like to see if I can find something like that here. That meal looks like dessert! Way to go4

Fantastic job this week! Lots of green, and so far four people have had a loss every week this month:
@lonestarbabe
@ashleycarole86
@Steph1498
@Pearl4686
You are all stars! There are more people who still need to weigh in and I'll bet my other snowshoe that there will be more with 4 weeks in the green4 -

Thank you It's this one. I got these recommendations off of this page, you can find other brands here too -0 -
Generally all flavours I've tried from Myprotein are good but my favorites so far are maple, toffee, chocolate and banana. Cookie dough from Gymqueen was really good too.0

Happy Friday my Friends!
Welcome back @ells_bellz we missed you!
Well, this morning I had to pull myself out of my morning workout because my back threatened to give out (it was very painful for a while), even dropping the weights didn't really help. So after only 19 minutes I had a hot shower, then took some strong pain killers. I've been on the sofa under a quilt (with my laptop) ever since. I hope I'm able to do the leg workout that I have scheduled for tomorrow morning.
Enjoy the rest of today!5 -

That's great Sam! I have tried most of the Walden farms ones as they're available at my local grocery store, I'll shop around for the myprotein brand to give them a try.1 -
My grief counselor has suggested I try journaling to acknowledge sadness about my father's death and turn it to gratefulness for the moments and memories I had with him. I've never been good with self-care habits, I even struggle to do prescribed physio exercises that I KNOW will reduce physical pain. Lots of people in this group have commented about journaling, and personal habit reflections. Do you set aside a specific time and place for it daily? I guess I have to get a mindset of this is something I want, and not to see it as a chore because then I will just procrastinate. As it's winter, my evenings after dinner are usually just wasted sitting in the dark on the couch watching tv until I get to go to bed so there's no excuse that I don't have time. I just need the will. Anyone have recommendations?4
-
@PlaneMonkey I have an all-day reminder in my calendar so I can do it any time really. I try to journal during my working day (it's in my desk drawer at home) because I find if I leave it to the evening, I often get distracted and it doesn't happen. Previously, I've had it in my bedside drawer but I like privacy to write so if OH was going to bed at the same time, that didn't work either.

1/27 exercise:
46 minutes Peloton, 7934 steps
@happimess01 The vibrant colors of your fruit are making me drool!
Not much to report, I was on the Peloton right after work and then we had a video call with my mother in law that lasted nearly 3 hours! So, a little later than I thought, but it's Friday!! Hope everyone has some fun planned for the weekend.4 -
Wow - great weigh-ins today people!!
Also, can't believe February is just around the corner... am I going to be saying that about every month now for the rest of time? :P2 -
Welcome back @ells_bellz! We are glad to have you. Don't feel guilty or apologize, just get back on that cart and start driving it where you want to go. We all have our detours. Great that you are back and ready to take care of your health and get your life in order. You've got this!
@ashleycarole86 Welcome to another new decade, 170s!!! Well done!!!! You are amazing! Keep going! Have you set a new goal for yourself? Whatever it is, I have no doubt you'll achieve it.
@jugar Oh no! The snowshoes mustn't break. They are so trusty and comfy. But never fear, I am confident that even new shiny snowshoes will learn lots from your wise old self. You just need to show them where to go. Here in NC, we had a beautiful, fluffy 2 inches of snow last night.
This week has been crazy here to say the least. I have been busy, busy, busy. We had movers in to both houses to give us a moving estimate. That number was mind boggling!! Double digit thousands! My daughter had a realtor in on Tuesday, a potential buyer in on Wednesday, an offer on Thursday and signed a contract to sell her house. And a nice little profit to boot after owning it 5 years. They plan on paying some of her husbands medical bills off from last spring.
While I am weeding through unnecessary things in my house, thinning it, I am also too busy to snack, so my weight his holding steady and moving down slightly. (Sorry I missed my weigh in yesterday. Slipped my mind.). So everything is "thinning". LOL I even sat down at one point yesterday while my OH was going through a box and said, "I am not getting up from this seat until I have consumed this whole glass of water."
Next Monday, my daughter starts work remotely. That means Peter and I will be doing this "thinning" with an almost 4 year old running around the house. I'm putting that pipsqueak to work!!
Not done reading all the posts yet, but on my way. Wanted to post something.
